Wow dats kewl! I often drive to kuantan as well. Hav to wash the car every single day! Sigh!.

Bro, hw bout the air ventilation? Wont ther be hot air build up?
*
Hi,

As mayalab mentioned, this shield have air inlet and outlet, so installed it should be fine. Temperature in meter still same as before install., about 90 degC. As long as it can protect my engine from any debris, I will feels happy about it.
Ya, I usual to wash my car by myself once a week if I at Kuantan. I hate bauxite, but I still need to be there for project requirement in Gebang..sigh cry.gif

Do u mean on Friday already replace sensor?

If havent replace but  fault message gone thats normal bcoz sensor intermittent problem. Happens to me like that too.
*
No chance to replace on Friday because no stock so they need to order from HQ.
I think it will be troublesome if issue is intermittent..time wasting sad.gif

Comrades,,

Has anyone among 408T owners changed their suspension (lower arm + absorber)?

The tyre mechanic told me there's a crack at lower arm bush due to weak absorber as he claimed. (Not sure how true this is). He advised to change the lower arm + absorber (OEM German made absorber + ori lower arm) at about RM2.5K.

Advice from all sifus is needed here.

Thanks.. :-)

Hi,

I advise you to visit one of the recommended workshop before making any decision. You can find the workshop list at the first post in this thread.

Thank you

Change door stopper (front right) at SC KD, total cost RM199.90 on 27/5/2016. Last change the same door on 1/6/2015 (under warranty). Hope this last longer

Hi,

I also get this stopper to replaced at Kajang SC under warranty. This new stopper are difference than original in term of thickness of the arm and sharp. I think this stopper is improved stopper. I hope this can last longer. Later I take photo and share it here.

Hi,

Bought 408 model 2.0 back in May 2012. First time in 4 years, the car broke down on the road at Kajang SILK highway yesterday evening.

My speed gradually reduced and stopped. Been trying to push accelerator but nothing happens. Battery is ok & even starting the engine is fine. However, can't move the car & aircond also weirdly stopped working. Suspect is the gearbox problem.

The tow truck came within 60mins & towed it to SC Chan Sow Lin. Until today yet to check. Sigh. Anybody face similar problem?

Now it is in 4th year meaning it's under extended warranty, right? I have to expect longer time processes under extended warranty? Sigh. Raya Aidilfitri is one month away and hope could get replacement car by then.
*
Have you check the what warning/error appeared in center panel and took a picture ?
Mine is 2.0, bought in 2013. Yeah, 4th year onward is covered under EWS.

QUOTE(R-1 @ Jun 20 2016, 04:11 PM)
Hi, sorry for not updating about my case. My 408 NA broke down a day before puasa (Sunday, 5 June) and sent straight to nearby SC Chan Sow Lin. They can't check for a week due to their current work load and only came back on Monday, 13 June said that my timing belt broken.

So need replacement and perform overhaul for total cost of RM 10.8k! I wasn't convinced enough as many parts need to replace. For example, new engine mounting needed but when I asked has it crack yet and they said not yet but afraid it will when dismantle it.

My mileage was at 87k km when it broke down. During 80k km service, SC Petaling Jaya informed don't need to perform major service (including timing belt replacement) and told only need to do it during 100k km. As such, SC Chan Sow Lin advised me to tow the car back to SC Petaling Jaya and try claim warranty there.

So I towed back the car to SC Petaling Jaya on Wednesday, 15 June and they managed to complete checking on Saturday, 18 June and quoted for total cost of RM 8k++...

Since SC Petaling Jaya informed don't need to perform major service during 80k km (unfortunately the guy who told that already resigned), he will ask his manager on Monday (today) for warranty replacement.

Fortunately, the manager agreed to absorb the cost RM 8k++ as it was a mistake by their side not to replace timing belt during 80k km service.  rclxm9.gif

So they just open the repair job but can't promise to have the car ready before raya though..
They don't have courtesy car for me to use temporarily (SC Chan Sow Lin has 5 but all used up). Hopefully they can finish repair it soonest..
*
Hi R-1,

Sorry to heard that your case. I also been told that tensioner bully and alternator belt not need to replace during my 60k km in SC Petaling Jaya. Now mileage on my car already 80k km, I already did major service in SC Kajang, took 3 days. Part already replaced are timing belt, alternator belt, tensioner bully, water pump, water coolant and etc, total cost RM3300. sweat.gif

Don't delay to replace those critical part in our car to prevent break down..

Have been buying from Asli,Subang Jaya branch. Very reasonable & they have everything for our model. Just changed rear ASB sensor = $190. Bought brake pads, rear = $160, front = $190.

My worry is only aircon, it does cost a bomb. Sourcing around for workshops. Let me know if any?
*
Hi,
the brake pad you bought are original ??

My fellow sirs,  any of u added DRL to our 408? Coming from 308, I felt the lack of DRL for 408 (despite having same headlamp module) kinda disturbed me.

Been eyeing for signal lights with DRL function,  but seek clarifications from sifus:

1. Possible to replace the signal bulb with this light module? How to hardwire the connection to existing wire socket? And is it feasible to link the DRL to our automatic headlights configuration? Require any relay?

2. Does it void warranty?

3. Or can we use existing not in-use socket and set it up same with Item 1?

Apologies in advance if this has been enquired before.  Couldnt find it in V1-V4 thread so far.
*
Hi.
Are you able to read Chinese word?

Here is the DIY to install DRL for our car. I feels it is pretty simply to add DRL..

Anyone done any soundproofing to your 408?

Got my car tinted with LLumar Crystal 6 and detailing/Coating with Sieraglow.  Now need to do some soundproofing.  Thinking of the 3M type of rubbers wing sold in the automotive garage sales

suggestions.
*
I did soundproofing my 408 by myself, front door and few other area. This 408 NVR level is acceptable, you can improve it further but you only get significantly...
You should do soundproofing at front wheel arch and front door first because tire noise very obvious when driving. Using soft tire may reduce the noise but it just a short term solution..
