I am planning to subscribe to a data plan. My current line is UOX celcom, with credit validity till 2017 and my current usage is about 10-30MB per day, which makes the 500MB-1GB quota/month suitable for me. However which telco is the cheapest, in terms of monthly usage, yet doesn't require me to maintain credit validity at RM30/30days. I am looking at around RM10-20/month.

I have gathered alot of information:
Umobile:
UMI20 - RM20/500MB/month
UMIpower prepaid - free 1GB/month for life, but required to maintain credit validity, which means I have to reload RM30/month.

MagicSim Celcom:
Social pack - RM10/150MB/lifetime
NET25 - RM25/1GB/month

Hotlink:
Tablet Plan: RM25/1GB/60days or RM45/2GB/1year

Digi:
Prepaid Add-On: RM16/400MB/month or RM20/1.5GB/month

XOX:
RM18/500MB/month

But, most of the freebies require the line to be active in order to enjoy it, which means at least RM30 is needed to maintain the line every month.

From my research, I singled out the Hotlink tablet plan as it has the longest validity of 1 year, and doesn't require monthly reload to keep the line active. The social pack by Celcom seems promising too as it will not expire till 2017.

So do you have any other suggestions besides the hotlink and social pack?

Recently i apply Tunetalk online after see Ads that get 1 Gb free if topup Rm30.
So After 2 days, i got my Sim.
- the sim card and postage is free.
- i got Rm 60 credit, i just topup Rm30 only
- got free 1 gb data.

So i just extend validy 1 year for rm28.
For its ok la because other telco such as magic sim, umobile didnt have 1 year validy option. My digi number can extend to 30 days only for rm5.
Im using 4 sim telco now just to find the correct one.

thanks for the useful info. I've check it as well, the weekly plan of 100MB for RM2 suits me, which means only RM8/month for 400MB.

Care to explain further on the extend validity of 1 year for RM28? Does it mean I am forking out RM28 just to extend 1 year, without getting any credits back(just like a normal reload)?

Also, is this the free SIM that you mean?

yes Tunetalk is almost the winner....if only it reduces call charge to 0.10/min, it would be the winner!

Yup! Exactly as you said. I just called up their CS at this hour, still open and fast in getting thru to operator.

1GB valid for 90 days, balance will be burned. So we are looking at RM25/ 3months = RM8.33 / 333MB /month  laugh.gif
or 2GB valid for 90 days, RM42 / 3months = RM14 / 666MB /month  rclxms.gif

No need to keep account active to enjoy the data  icon_rolleyes.gif
I think umoble UMI needs to keep account active to use the data? like other telcos.

The altel365 is upon 1st reload of rm50 in 1 single receipt to extend to 365 days from the day of reload. Then the RM50 credit can be used to buy data, calls, sms. It is not burned to extend validity like some telco.

When MNP got free 300MB data.

Planning to MNP my xpax over to them soon. flex.gif

thanks man for the added option, I may consider this in the future.

I'm currently with hotlink tablet plan, RM45/2gb/365days. It's only RM3 more expensive than Altel's RM42/2gb/90days, but with a longer validity. Therefore I think I'm still sticking to hotlink since my usage is only around 300mb/month. Cant finish up Altel's 2gb within 3months.

No problemo. Your tablet plan means no calls/sms? I'm going for the 1GB/RM25/90days plan with option of calls/sms.

Yeah sadly no calls/sms. But atleast I have 2 different network on my dual sim phone. If my Xpax has no line, i can switch to maxis's, rather than having altel celcom line too.
