To answer your first question: Try getting a NexG prepaid Credit card, any 7-11 store only RM25. Im not sure, what are you using PayPal for ? to pay for something or are you using it to sell your stuff ?

2nd, goto a bank, and purchase a bank draft - it can be used internationally. We are a Commonwealth country, and money orders from the post office can only be accepted in certain commonwealth countries (the last I check was ages ago, you have to reconfirm).

3rd, Options for what ? You have to state what you're using it for! To registed something ? Pay for something ? Send money to a relative ? I guess the only alternative is; telegraphic transfer - it's also called wire transfer.

Thanks for the reply.

I want to use the debit card to pay for something in Paypal. Does the NexG Prepaid card have a minimum age requirement? Does Paypal accept this NexG prepaid card?

3rd, What options do I have when buying things from oversea. Buying from a seller.
*
1. Anyone can use it, no income requirement.
2. Yes, PayPal accepts because it's a Credit Card (Mastercard).
3. You have all the options given to you by the seller. Why don't you just ask the seller or check the website ? Since you never mentioned where you;re buying from, I'm just firing blanks. Are you sending money to someone, or purchasing something off an e-Commerce website ? Normally: Bank Drafts, Telegraphic Transfers, Credit Cards.

1. do i have to apply for the NextG and create a Paypal account?
2. if indeed i open a Paypal account, but from what i've heard you cant withdraw money here in Malaysia so that basically means even if the buyer pays me the dollars, i cant withdraw them anyway and the money is like 'frozen' in the Paypal acc.

if that the only solution to receive money in other currencies? or do you have other solutions? thanks

Hey there, I hope this helps you out;

1. You don't have to apply for NexG, it's a retail card - so everyone qualifies. Makes things simple for you doesn't it ? smile.gif

2. Check this thread post #3: http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=374519
If you don't open a bank account in Singapore - then an alternative is to liquidate your USD to RM by selling in here. There are people in garage sales selling PayPal US$1 at RM3.2-3.5

Alternatively, you can goto 3rd party merchant banks if your margin is high enough to pay the %. I can recommend you a local one (3.5-5%), and an international one (8-10%). The local one enables you to accept Maybank2U payments as well, but there is a drawback: Setup Fees.

or you can ask them to pay by cheque, it will take 1-3 months to clear the check though. Bank drafts faster, but the buyer overseas will have to: Physically visit a bank, and pay extra bank charges to get it.

Then there's the wait time, as a benchmark: normal posted mail from the US takes 2 weeks to arrive here.

Heh, glad I could help you guys - it's no problem. I just happen to know and I thought I'd share in hopes you don't make any mistakes, and save you time. There's not enough to write a guide on PayPal, maybe a guide on eCommerce payment systems, hmm.. biggrin.gif

Anyway, cheers!

Oh and one more thing, it is an Ambank card, so if Ambank is nearer than your nearest 7-11, lol... go get it there!

Hey Overrulled,

Paypal will charge you USD$3 on your dad's credit card. This USD$3 will be refunded back to you via PayPal (You get USD$3 credited into your PayPal account).

When you verify, your dad's credit card statement will show 3-5 digits (it can take up to a week for it to show), use these digits to verify.

You only have to verify if you want to be a seller, and withdraw an unlimited amount. If you're using PayPal just to purchase things off the web or send funds, then there's no need to verify.

so lets say if i bought things from ebay, then how do i pay through my paypal?
i buy the amount needed than just deposit into my paypal account?
i thought u need to verify ur account to transfer funds or even to use them

No you don't have to verify if you're just a buyer. First, make sure the seller on eBay accepts Paypal. Then after your auction/purchase, you can pay him via PayPal - eBay will have the link.

You don't have to transfer funds there, if you have 0 PayPal funds, and you purchase something worth US$10 - then your dad's credit card will be charged US$10.
