Washington sent F-15C in early November immediately after first incursion (that was publicly announced) by Russian fighters into Turkey airspace. Given that its not difficult to avoid another country's airspace, not like Syria very kecik and cramped, what's the point behind Russia's intrusion seems to be the better question.
S400 changes the game because its Russia's most advanced SAM and no aircraft has a counter against SAM other than ejecting flares and hoping it misses. The only way is to destroy the SAM with bombs and as you say, F-15C doesn't do air to ground. Its literally a gun against which there is no defence. You like walking around with a gun pointed at you, trusting that the user won't make *another* MH17 mistake?
That still doesn't explain your earlier post relating S400 to the stationing of F-15Cs. Now you yourself said F-15Cs were sent in early November. So again, how is the deployment of S400 affect or cause Washington's decision to deploy additional F-15Cs?
Those are the one you said deployed in November, in addition to what they already have in that region. So how is Russian deployment of S400 affect or cause US to send in additional F-15Cs (which happened way before the down of SU-24 and subsequent deployment of the afore mentioned deployment of S400) as mentioned by you in earlier post?

I get that, I was trying to be brief. The point being, short of air to ground SEAD or DEAD work there is nothing an aircraft can do, but suffer being painted by S400 and hope the gunner isn't as trigger happy as the dumbass who shot down MH17. And any nonsense like firing HARMs obviously will trigger WW3. As I said earlier, the F15Cs were deployed in November in response to Russian incursion into Turkish airspace by a MIG-29 air superiority fighter in early October. Supposedly the fighter even illuminated Turkish F16s flying QRA.
So the better question is what's the point of flying MIG-29s into Turkey? Its not as if Syria is like Singapore, too cramped for flying...
First of all, you're the one who relate the deployment of F-15Cs to the Russian deployment of S400. Tetiba forgot what you said? 2nd, since when Russia has MiG-29 in Syria????
You're the one who said this, not me. To which I asked, what is the point of S400 then? Because its certainly not there to shoot ISIS either. Its just yet another escalation courtesy of Putin and his NATO-baiting brinkmanship: S400 is a gun that can only be countered by destroying it and that is impossible. It effectively hinders Western attempts to bomb ISIS which is why no Western aircraft have flown strikes against ISIS since S400 was put in place 28 Nov.
As for the F-15Cs they were in response to the Russian incursions into Turkey. And yes, Russia sent in MIG-29s into Turkey, who *claims* they even illuminated the Turkish F-16s. For which there is no explanation why either.
So yeah, American warn Russian against arming their jets with AA missiles because ISIS has not airforce. But US sent F-15Cs under the pretext of fighting ISIS is OK, even though ISIS has no airforce. That's what I mean.
You're the one who drag in the S400. Not me. Even in your quoting of my post did I mentioned S400???? F-15Cs were sent way before the downing of SU-24 and of course way before the S400 deployment. So why did you link the deployment of F-15Cs to S400???? They are not cause and consequence. That's what I am saying.
Since when Russian deploy MiG-29 to Syria???

So pray tell, on what basis do they have to close the straits?
It means war. If this is Erdogan's decision, he really got balls because he is taking on not only Russia, but US at the same time. He is putting US and NATO in a very difficult situation. If this is his stunt, we can expect some political upheaval in Turkey. In the game of chess, the American has not been known to be kind to rogue pieces.
Montreux Convention, also mentioned somewhere upthread. Naturally Sputniknews disagrees
Turkey does have the right of blockade, in war time. So what it does now practically mean it is in war with the party blocked. Let's see if Turkey will declare war. But it mostly won't. Conventions and international laws can be throw away if you have big stick. US and UK are very familiar with that.
My sympathy really would be with Russia if not for Ukraine/Crimea.
Ukraine/Crimea/Syria, they are all related. Take a look at the chronology and you will know. It's a big game played amongst the players (you can count with one hand). The rest are chips and pieces. The problem here is some of the pieces/chips have their own plan or they think themselves are the players and do not quite play to the order of the real players. When not handled properly, things could spiral in the direction which non of the players wants. History tells that something will have to happen to correct the course. Putin had an extensive 1-to-1 with Obama (Despite Erdogan asked to meet, he didn't give a fuck. And since Erdogan wants to hide behind Nato, Putin speak directly to the defacto Nato: USA) and the American official statement later pretty much confirm what many have predicted. Erdogan is an ambitious man but he is playing a dangerous game.
There you go. All those Syrian SAMs... pointed at 'all those' ISIS aircraft... and where did all this hardware magically appear from? Can anyone dispute Russia's true motive of supporting Assad now?
Why do you think the Russian are there? So far they have been quite straight forward about their support for assad. Every single foreign power currently in Syria is to "fight terrorism". pahamlah.
Like it is something new to use other country citizen to fight their war. Remember the gurkhas from nepal?
The European have been doing it since the age of cold weapon.
These South American guns were arranged by the former Blackwater man Eric Prince. It is blood money. Prince has strong political connection back at where he's hailed. He's well funded by the DeVos who owned Amway. Dirty money everywhere.
