QUOTE(azriel @ Oct 31 2015, 12:42 AM) Won't happen, this is just media prediction....menhan, TNI and parliament already support Su-35...Three new squadrons will be established until 2024, more likely F-16V.....so, TNI-AU's primary fighter will be Flankers and F-16 variants |

QUOTE(waja2000 @ Oct 31 2015, 10:22 AM) correct, average joe don't know enough to judge, but still spew out stuff like political ammo......Maybe should have considered a Mi24 so can carry Paskau inside to act as a flying police vehicle so people have less to complain but in case happen, people expected it can use to catch/search intruder over sea, also fire support on sea. |

INTERNATIONAL MILITARY REVIEW – SYRIA-IRAQ BATTLESPACE , OCT. 30, 2015 QUOTE The battle for east Aleppo has recently intensified between the pro-government forces and ISIS, as both forces have exchanged large-scale offensives in this tug-of-war fight for control of the areas in Syria’s northern countryside. http://southfront.org/international-milita...ce-oct-30-2015/On Thursday, the Syrian Arab Army (SAA), the National Defense Forces (NDF) and Kataebat Al-Ba’ath advanced on the terrorists’ positions at the mounds of Sheikh Ahmad. According to reports, the Syrian forces were able to advance inside the southern neighborhoods of Sheikh Ahmad. Nonetheless, they still have a long way to go before being able to impose full control over this town near the Kuweries Military Airport. Pro-Syrian sources argue that the next 48 hours in this sector will be critical for both the Syrian Armed Forces and ISIS, as the former attempts to lift the two year long siege on the Kuweries Military Airport. In turn, we expect a continuation of the heavy fighting in the settlements’ building blocks. It will be likely resulted in impossibility of the both sides to gain a momentum to get a significant success at the frontline in a short time. The SAA’s 66th Brigade of the 11th Tank Division has been taking part in fierce clashes against the ISIS militants for control of the Khanasser-Ithriya Highway. It leads to the Syrian Government controlled areas of the Aleppo province. On account of this battle, the pro-government forces have been forced to abandon their southern Aleppo offensive in order to reopen this strategic supply route. On Thursday, the Syrian Arab Army’s 66th Brigade received a much needed boost when a contingent from Hezbollah arrived from the town of Khanasser to purge militants from this area. Hezbollah fighters took control of the integral hilltop at Tal Ithriya after a series of intense firefights. This has allowed the SAA to concentrate some of their units to the Sheikh Hilal front, where they confronted another ISIS assault on this town located along the Raqqa-Salamiyah highway. In turn, ISIS terrorists pushed north towards the town of Sheikh Hilal. ISIS attacks were fixed near the town of Al-Sa’an. Northeast of al Safira, ISIS attempted to infiltrate into the town of Al-Aziziyah for the second time in 72 hours. The SAA servicemen repelled this attack in a fierce firefight. Despite the pro-government forces’ efforts, the Khanasser-Ithriyah highway is still closed due to the ISIS presence. If it still remains closed, the Syrian Government will have to rely on airdrops in order to resupply their forces in Aleppo. |

J-31 stealth fighter could be paired with J-15 for carrier use The J-31 "Falcon Hawk" stealth fighter being developed by the Shenyang Aircraft Corporation could eventually be paired with the J-15 on the Liaoning, China's first and so far only aircraft carrier, reports Duowei News, a US-based Chinese political news outlet. The J-31 with its new vertical tail design recently went on display at the 16th China Aviation Expo in Beijing. Given the capabilities of the single-seat, twin-engine, mid-size fifth-generation jet fighter, it is believed that the J-31 could become a carrier-based aircraft. Duowei notes that the J-31's stability and double front wheel design make it well-suited to carrier deployment, adding that it might be more suited to being paired with the Liaoning than the J-20 fifth-generation stealth fighter prototype. If so, Duowei said, the J-31 could form a deadly high-low tandem with the already in-service J-15 carrier-based fighter aircraft. According to Zhang Shaozhong, a military theorist at PLA National Defense University, aircraft for naval use usually require complex considerations that extend beyond simply being able to land and take off from a carrier. The design of the J-31 for example takes into account the ability to fly in poor weather and misty conditions, as may be encountered at sea. In response to doubts raised by the US over the J-31's stealth capabilities, Zhang notes that the aircraft is still in development and that is capabilities will no doubt continue to improve throughout the test flight phase. Compared to the fifth-generation fighter technology of the United States, China is indeed lagging behind, but Chinese researchers will look for new ways to catch up or even leapfrog the US, Zhang added optimistically. The J-20, which is more advanced than the J-31 in terms of combat capability, is set to enter service around 2020, with around 20 new aircraft estimated to be manufactured per year. Zhang believes the J-20 was originally not designed with aircraft carriers in mind and that the Liaoning has also not considered pairing up with the aircraft. The design modifications required to make the J-20 compatible would mean sacrificing stealth capabilities and speed, he added. http://www.wantchinatimes.com/news/content...000042&cid=1101 |

QUOTE(thpace @ Oct 31 2015, 10:51 AM) Huh? so many more poorer third-world countries like Sudan, Kenya and Zimbabwe also use Mi-24 but I haven't heard that they have many problems with spare parts and supplies. Also some Mi-24 parts are also compatible with Mi-8 transport helicopters, which even more countries currently use, so its not like the Mi-24 a unique one of a kind helicopter with specialized parts. Also what aircraft doesn't need depot for constant operation? |

QUOTE Government to buy four Russian Beriev aircraft Jumat, 30 Oktober 2015 19:58 WIB - 0 Views Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia will buy four Russian Beriev BE-200 aircraft for its armed forces and will also be used to conduct cloud seeding to create artificial rain to extinguish forest or land fires. "We have submitted the proposal and included it in our strategic plan to buy four aircraft. This would be sufficient," the countrys Air Force Chief of Staff, Marshal Agus Supriatna, stated after meeting Vice President Jusuf Kalla here on Friday. He noted that the Beriev BE-200 aircraft is ideal for conducting water bombing operations in areas affected by fires. With additional Beriev aircraft being deployed to conduct cloud seeding operations, we would also be able to complete the operations quickly, he added. "Many sorties are needed. An aircraft needs 20 to 30 minutes to fetch water from the sea and 15 to 17 seconds to load before flying for 30 minutes to reach a location," he explained. U.S.-backed Kurdish-rebel alliance says assault on ISIL imminent ![]() QUOTE “We will soon announce zero hour for the beginning of the battle of liberation from oppression and persecution,” Raqqa Revolutionaries Front leader Abu Issa said in the video. Defense Secretary Ashton Carter on Oct. 27 said that the U.S.-led coalition would back the rebel alliance in their efforts to drive ISIL from Raqqa and key cities in neighboring Iraq. “It will be a historic battle, for Raqqa first and Syria second,” Abu Issa said. “Today we declare Raqqa province in its entirety a military zone. For this reason its people must not go near areas where there are Daesh (ISIL) elements” for their own safety. http://www.worldtribune.com/u-s-backed-kur...-isil-imminent/ This post has been edited by BorneoAlliance: Oct 31 2015, 02:09 PM |

Nobody fought IS before Russian operation in Syria — Chechen leader ![]() QUOTE Russian President Vladimir Putin made a clearly correct decision when Islamic State terrorists began threatening the whole world. Nowadays hundreds of them are surrendering to the Syrian authorities," he continued. "Many of them are trying to flee disguising themselves as women… They simply felt a real threat; felt that it was in earnest. Nobody had been fighting them before that in fact," he added. http://tass.ru/en/politics/832941 |

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — On Friday, the Russian military lost contact on Friday with a MiG-31 interceptor, which was carrying out a training mission in Russia's Far East.
