Will be upgrading from current 2mbps to VIP5, when downloading at full 5mbps, will it affecting the TV receiving?
*
I asked that question a few days ago. Reply from one friend with inside connection is, HyppTV is on a separate 8 Mbps line (for those with VIP package)and will not "eat" up your subscribed line.

Cheerio.

I am lost as to why some want 50 Mbps bandwidth.

Any other scenarios for the high bandwidth? Or a case of just want instant download? Ha.

That, and also if you have multiple family members or housemates that are into high bandwidth content. Higher throughput allows everyone to have a smoother experience. Even if someone is hogging, it would most likely be for a lesser time, all the time... 5Mbps is just enough for a single user to stream a typical 1080p movie, provided it has been compressed to around 2GB. Leaves no headroom for anything else though. In the future when 60fps / 4k HD / 3D content matures, 50Mbps would barely do the job for a family of 5 for example...

One question came to mind after you raised this.

Maybe what was mentioned by the friend with inside connection is only for VIP package (i.e. HyppTV viewing will not eat up your bandwidth). For other non VIP, then HyppTV may be using the subscribed bandwidth. Better clarify this with TM staff.

im planning to upgrade from vip5 to vip30 but i saw someone mentioned that the free local call will remove and upload bandwidth is capped, but my friend says no. Can anyone verify that for me?

if i remember correctly, from vip5 to vip30, the only thing that change is just the download speed right ?

Check out the attached image. Also suggest you update your firmware to the latest as there are some bug fixes for IPv6 support.

I have been using streamyx (1 then 2 Mb) for the past 10 years.

I am lost as to why some want 50 Mbps bandwidth.

Say I want to watch a 4 GB BR movie, 2 hrs long. So I need a bandwidth of 4000*8/2/3600 = 4.4 Mbps. A 10 Mbps bandwidth will be more than sufficient. Why 50 Mbps? Unless there are many users.

Any other scenarios for the high bandwidth? Or a case of just want instant download? Ha.

To me the faster the better. rolleyes.gif That said I'm only on 30Mbps and a single user. biggrin.gif
I love to stream my Full HD videos and they must play instantly without any buffering. biggrin.gif

As last I check wit TMpoint, 30Mbps can be install at landed and high rise building. As for 50Mbps, only landed or building not more than 5 stories can get it installed. And of course, all must be residential unit.
