Does anyone here with employment income (BE) have selected for tax audit by the IRB before? if yes, can share the experience?

hi, is standby allowance taxable? my employer put it in tip kasar, thank you.

A bit tricky here for your situation, it depends wats the purpose of tis allowance is paid for... normal meal allowance for employees on regular basis is exempted from tax EXCLUDING the per diem allowance for the purposes of exercising the employment.

1. I bought medical insurance for my parents. Is this claimable as a tax relief for me?

2. I buy books. The Receipt states
Net Sale RM120.50
Master Card RM87.50
Voucher RM5.00
MPH club Rebate RM28.00

So.. can I claim RM120.50, or just RM87.50?
*
1. No, u cant.
2. RM87.50. (jus claim the full amt if the receipt doesn't show the voucher n rebate)

travelling and petrol allowances are 2 different things. travelling is treated as employee benefit in terms of vacation or work related travelling expenses (restricted to certain amount) whereas petrol allowance is treated as part of your income under section 13(1)(b). if your petrol allowance is less or equivalent to RM6000, then you dont have to include in your income: if it's more than RM6000, the extra allowance will be taxable.

** I could be wrong regarding the amount.

Actually if u follow the IRB guideline, travelling, petrol or toll rate allowance is the same. Extra allowances (>RM6,000) will be exempted as well if u can have the records to prove that the allowances is paid for exercising of ur employment.

Correct me if am wrong.
