I am using Celcom, and it rings for 6 times only (some time 7 times) after that cut off by itself. Approximately 20 ~ 25s.
It is just a bit too short, I have called and asked to extend the ringtone duration, but was told that it is impossible, and all other telco are also like this (plain BS). They said Celcom standard ringing time is 30 seconds, but I measured only around 20~25s.
It will be nice if I can extend the duration to 1m. Like Digi or U-Mobile (haven't test with Maxis yet).
Is it true? Anything I can do to extend the ringtone other than MNP?
Hmmm .... this is nothing new.
Most mobile telco have voicemail system in place and the maximum incoming ring time before going to voicemail is 30seconds. "Latency" from cell tower to mobile phone may reduce the time slightly a little bit. Disabling voicemail extends to 1 minute incoming ring time.
If you want longer incoming ring time the only option is to disable voicemail:
1. Celcom - call 1111 and ask to disable voicemail
2. Digi - dial *128# and its somewhere in Account Settings
3. Maxis - get to hotlink sub-forum and ask them disable it for ya
All the rest of telco requires you to call customer service to disable it. I seem to remember that Friendi doesn't have voicemail (if not mistaken).
