If the card issuer offers to pay on your behalf then it need to be accurately stated so. It shall not be considered a "waiver", "reward", "gift" or anything with similar definition. Someone else is paying the SST credit card tax although is it not the cardholder.

You can call Aeon and they will give back the SST in the form of cash back with spending condition and the cash back is equivalent to the SST amount.

it's pretty straightforward. no waiver for SST.
what banks/FI are doing is offering welcome/rewards of similar/exceed a specific amount.

example is how CIMB giving RM25 welcome bonus to new cardholder here. no mention of SST or whatsoever. sendiri pandai-pandai la.
As long as you dont dont equate this amount with SST, then it's not misleading. when you equate the reward = SST waiver, then it's incorrect, even when Aeon CS says so (obviously they are not well equipped when communicating to callers).
