Is this really necessary? There's a thread talking about which iPods we're using here:

http://forum.lowyat.net/index.php?showtopic=342579

The iPod Nano users are anything but a minority on this forum.

PC Fair? Err.. No idea.. Coz i didnt see any apple booth last time.. Maybe they'll appear this time but i doubt the price will be any lower..

You can find those sellers in the Trade Zone, they're selling 4GB nanos for 700 plus..

PC fair?...i doubt that, i never seen Macs on PC fairs b4...i doubt that they would market the iPod on the PC fair as well, if they ever show up..coz personally i think that they have no problems in their sales on iPods anyway, and thus doesn't require them to market it in PC fairs..

Yup, the 2nd gen 2GB nano doesnt come in white. Only silver. The 4GB one has colours though. If you really want it white, get the iskin for 2g nano. Very expensive though..

updates are always released to improve the ipod's usability.
Some will help reduce power usage, some will help increase accessing speed, some will add functions to the ipod OS.. it really depends but it's 99% good for your iPod.

Don't hesitate to update your ipod's software. smile.gif

Apple makes several types of cases, check it out
- For nano 2nd gen
- For nano 1st gen

You might wanna check out google.com and search for ipod nano casing/protector.

Hope it helps icon_rolleyes.gif .

Hi all,

I'm using this IPOD Nano 2G 2GB here and I have some questions regarding the stock earphones and the preset EQs.

Apparently, using anyone of the preset EQs would result in quite a bit of clipping and distortion with the stock earphones. This happen throughout my entire collection of mp3s. Turning the EQ off improves them tremendously but the stock earphones are pretty bad in sound reproduction in my opinion. Not that there's any configurable EQs to compensate. I understand that these are not real EQs but rather distortions carefully and purposefully introduced into the reproduction to trick the brain into thinking an EQ is applied - physco acoustics.

Anyway I tried using the EQs with better earphones, the clipping and distortion seems lesser but its still there depending on the level of music on a certain volume.

So has anyone experienced this before with their IPODs on their stock earphones? Or is it a case of too high EQs being applied? Or is it better to leave the EQ off and rely on better earphones? Are there any settings that I might mistakenly turned on that could introduce the distortion?

Well if this is a genuine problem with my IPOD I might want to send it in for a checkup. But anyway, I'm getting a pair Sennheiser CX300 to better complement the IPOD. Any comments?

Thank you for your time.

Well, i have the same problem too. Whenever i turn on the EQ, the sound will be distorted. It will sound a lil upleasant. sweat.gif

I think this is a common problem with nanos. Their EQs sucks. Im using a pair of Sony MDR-EX71. Even with stock headphones, or some ciplak ones it still sounds the same. (OT) I had 2 creative mp3 players before and their EQs sounds good. Even when you tweak it really hard (custom EQ rocks!) laugh.gif

I've heard from many users that the sound distortion when using EQs are normal, especially when the volume passes the half-mark. So its best to off the EQ, as it would save the battery life too. And pair it with a good pair of earphones. smile.gif

me : ipod nano 2gb 1st gen black

err do u mean to add n remove song from ur ipod? is that so, u can use winamp but must use ipod plugin.... but to remove song and add..i use yamipod... i put it in my ipod nano 2gb 1st gen so that..i can remove, add , and edit my songs on every pc that had usb port and doesnt have to install itunes..

my ipod's lcd screen cant be use anymore...it doesnt show any graphic or text anymore...just a white backlight....its very hard to make my ipod play songs coz i had to guess the menu... so.... what should i do? can the screen be replace? if can...where n how much?

Just have a look in the Music Related under Garage Sales section. There's many people selling. I bought mine from yc_83. Very nice guy, came all the way from melaka for me.. There's even some sellers selling around 500+ just have to look around..

It's funny how Apple price their products. Nano 8GB is same price with Video 30GB.

The reason Nano 8GB is priced similarly to the Video 30GB is because the former is based on flash memory while the Video 30GB is obviously based on a mini HDD. 8GB of flash memory on a such a small device do cost some money since there aren't much space for more flash modules other than to utilize high capacity ones.

As a result, the Nano could be very power efficient for its incredibly slim size since it only needs to power the flash and system electronics while the Video 30GB apart from other electronics, still have a spinning HDD to manage. Reliability for the Nano is improved since there's no spinning mechanical devices. You could drop a Nano and still operate within its normal parameters. Of course the Video 30GB should be able to manage a short fall, but anything exceeding that it would be disastrous.

Then there's the 'anti-skipping' feature which is natural for flash based mp3 players. Some people say they can't jog with a Video 30GB but that depends.

Well my nano has 1.78 Gb. And it wont sync photos if the free space is less than 50 meg. But i rather have more songs and artworks than photos anyway.. laugh.gif

Yup. You need to run Linux on your iPod. It can be done though I don't know if your eyes would appreciate it on that tiny screen.....

Last time i check those linux version of ipod nano, it said that you need convert the video into raw format or what in order to playback the video. It's a pretty big file size. It's not worth. That's what i know back then. Now maybe they fix that or what. wink.gif
