QUOTE(nxtpg @ Oct 1 2015, 01:26 PM) This is my guess:If one big lump sum deposit, it needs officer to validate ("override") the transaction, before it goes thru the ASNB system, and it takes some times. RM10K or below no need such validation (some bank 20K below) |

QUOTE(titanic_crash @ Oct 6 2015, 07:07 AM) it's not a one day decision...i opened asw since 2008...back then, the div was superior then epf, thus i used to hedge accordingly and i used odasw as well... If u know how to use ODASW, spot on!![SIZE=7] now, with asb2 coming and the first dividen was equal to asb,asw and as1m were not favorable to me anymore with the current 3b snapped up in asb2, im going and invest under my children name first as it is capped at 10b..try max 50k for each child, then i asb But based on the current shrinking return of ASW dividend and increasing in OD rate. Not worth to do the ODASW. I have discontinue 5 OD accounts pledged against ASW. |

Overdraft against ASW.
Last time ASW could be in the form of certificate and pledge to the bank for OD facility, 5 years ago, BLR was 5.5% and OD interest rate can get up to BLR-2% (for my case), so net OD rate was 3.5% compared to ASW which was 6.6% in average. Therefore there is a gap on the cost of fund and the return in ASW. So there are some ppl see the opportunity. There were many ppl use ASW to pledge with bank, OD out the money and use OD to deposit in ASW and pledge again...do it multiple times to maximize the OD, so 100K of seed capital may ballon up the deposit till RM1mil or more with multiple OD placement. Eventually ASNB found the loopholes and stopped the ASW in certificate form.... |

QUOTE(MGM @ Oct 6 2015, 02:37 PM) So there is no more ASW in cert form, or some investors still holding them? Any other fix-priced ASx can be in cert form? No more, those who still holding the ASW certificate can still do the OD financing but the return is not great anymore. For now, fixed priced fund, only ASB and ASB2 can be in the certificate forms. |

QUOTE(kpfun @ Oct 10 2015, 12:54 PM) NYSE has more than 1,600 ETF and more than 1,000 in applications. It covers various sectors. The average earning of the entire ETF industry is not a meaningful figure. ETF is just a kind of unit trust, but, the formation is different and so do its liquidation. Spot on!!Of cause, it has many advantage than traditional Unit Trust. Relatively, ETF is still new in the investment market, 10 years plus only. It is evolving now, and some, are turning into high risk as well, because it can be configured for hedging, and law in USA still not fully capable to manage it. hehe.... My knowledge in ETF is limited. I'm still working ETF research since 2 years ago. I am a slow learner and a very conservative investor. My personal plan is - for fun I am with Forex, for mid/long term incomes is with ETF. I am not favor to traditional Unit Trust. Unit Trust concept is good, but, the formation is suck. Not really at subscribers benefits. I never take ASNB as a traditional trust. As I said, I am taking its political purpose advantage. That reason I like ASNB. The main critic of the mutual funds is the cost of investment. Sunny day or rainy day, they still make money from the investors regardless of performance. ETF provide cheaper and more effective option to invest in index stocks. Asnb variable priced funds are following the mutual fund concept. The exception is Asnb's fixed price fund. It's the hybrid of FD and mutual funds based on its product features. A retiree here too. |

QUOTE(Ancient-XinG- @ Oct 10 2015, 11:19 AM) I remember I mentioned once when the dreamer invade our thread which negativity. Unker dreamers is a non-believer of any politically link products. Each induvidual has their own preference. The bolded part is very very very important. Actually, be it the current or opposition. PNB will not fall. What do you guys think on this? For some, they treat Asx fixed price funds as a temporary current account that pay high dividend. It allows one to temporary park their money there, worry free!! When other better investment opportunities arise, the liquidity nature of the funds allows the spontaneous withdrawal which is good. |

Used to invest a lot in Public mutual 10 years ago. Mutual gold. Then aggressively properties. Collect rental as dividend income. |
