At cashier, there are 2 terminals, by Maybank and Aeon Credit.
If you swipe at Maybank terminal, you get "AEON SMKT"; Recently I swiped at another terminal provided by Aeon Credit, I got "AEON CO..." but I still got Groceries CB using HLB Wise (there is a Supermarket indicator at CC slip but not shown in CC statement).

MCC at each device.
It is preset by the merchant's bank, based on the nature of business (tax code at US).
Card users can't change the MCC.

The shop may have a few devices with different MCC.
If the shop is running a cafe selling fast food, yes it may have 1 device from Maybank with MCC5812, another device from CIMB with MCC5814.
You use any credit/debit cards swiped at the device from CIMB, the MCC is 5814.

Bigpay, Shopee, ShopeePay, Lazada, TNG wallet.
They are served by a few banks and you will be diverted to different channels based on card number.

Eg. Shopee, normally diverted to the channel (=device) served by Maybank. But if you use some Public Bank Card's, it will be diverted to another channel served by Public Bank.

Nothing wrong if the station wants to use MCC5541 (Service Station).
Only HLB Wise doesn't include MCC5541. No impact to other CC with petrol CB.

5541: Service stations (with or without ancillary services)
5542: Automated fuel dispensers.

They are not grocery stores. Only HLB Wise specially include "7-eleven" and "Mynews" for Grocery Cashback.
