okay thanks =) btw do u know about modem alot?

wanna ask if non dual band users will benefit from dual band modem..

and dual band / 802.11ac is 2 different thing right? 1 is modem signal, another one is the internet speed to ISP ?

and does 802.11ac works with streamyx? since streamyx is the inferior connection compared to Unifi

It does. Max 866mbps. You need a ac 5ghz channel width 80 for ac aslonh ure router supports.

As for streamyx n unifi thats internet connection. Nothing to do with ISP

i mean the 802.11AC , if the modem supports 802.11ac, does it need to see whether the connection the ISP provide got 802.11ac or not?

wifi network is a internal network connection at ure home
Hence ac wifi nothing to do with isp
Ac wifi requirements for notebook is ure router wifi support.

Nothing to do with ISP connection. Are you asking whether ure streamyx/unifi router supports AC??

Default unifi doesnt. Only dual band.

ohhh, so means dual band = signal strength between router and computer

802.11ac = speed management between modem and ISP? ( any ISP will do ? )

Ok dual band
2.4ghz and 5ghz. There are at different wave length
So both has different channels. 5ghz is at a higher range.
Because we have a lot of things nowadays running in the air around us at 2.4.. Its not stable when you occupy the same channel.
5ghz is shorter range n its higher. Hence y ppl ask you to. Chances of interferance is less

A/b/g/n/ac etc are speeds and channel widths which affects connection speed.

Not sure about that router but unifi default is dual band N router. So max is 300mbps. And you can get that speed at 2.4ghz & 5ghz because it supports channel width 40 at 2.4 also.

AC requires channel width 80.

okay now i get it already. thanks for the clarification.

but then the max speed is 300mbps for 802.11ac , but my streamyx only 8mbps, why getting the 802.11ac will improve my internet leh? hmm.gif

One thing odd about the Z5, which i noticed almost immediately after using it for half a day, is the USB ports. I remembered someone said it didn't recognize external hard disks sometimes.

The trick was not to push in the usb cable's head fully into the port. At one point as u slowly push the cable into the port the computer will detect it, and then u stop there. It's almost like the USB ports are 2 or 3 millimeters "too deep" than necessary.

If u push the cable's head fully fast into the port the computer might not be able to detect an external peripheral is being plugged in. Oddly it only applies to my WD external MyBook. HDD. It doesn't happen to mouse and keyboard. Not an issue really, i just have to plug my stuff like 2 or 3mm short instead of fully into the port.
