Hello guys,

Well cut to the chase, what is the main reason you guys choose Iriz over Myvi or any other cars that fall under the budget ?
*
What other car provides such safety features below the RM50k mark?

Plus, Perodua actually cut back on certain features. The Myvi 1.3G (baseline) now comes with old school reflector headlamps, and no Bluetooth connectivity. Previously they had projector lamps and Bluetooth for the cheapest variant.

Not to mention, NO ABS, which is just laughable in 2015.

1.3 cvt is not under power, imo. I have one, bought for my wife. For my eldest child, will be getting a manual for him, standard is enough.
*
Agreed.

It's acceptable for a 1.3 car..The only disadvantage is the clutch-based system. Imagine driving manual, stepping on the accelerator while slowly releasing the clutch. The rev will go up but the actual power comes a little bit later. It's less prevalent as the car gets warmed up over time.

Once it gets going, it's definitely not underpowered if you step on it.

i got read somewhere in picm group they said that when it shows --- , it still have 6-7 litres fuel left in the car
*
I once went to fill up when I had one bar left, and pumped 34 liters to make it full, meaning I had about 6 liters left. This was way before the yellow light could come on.

Definitely will not wait for the yellow light...

I think there's a limiter for the rev in P and N. It won't let you go beyond 3k rpm.

Do you mean like a krocking sound?
*
Mine is a knocking sound whenever going over humps, but a 2015 car (1.3 CVT).

To those who've sent their cars to the SC to check for any issues, do you insist on seeing the technicians and explaining it to them, or just speaking to the service advisor who may or may not relay the correct info to the technicians?

Shah alam can go CoE or Glenmarie.
*
Glenmarie is smaller, and will serve you faster. Generally a bit friendlier. However their ability to fix more mysterious/unusual issues is more limited.

COE is much bigger, have to wait longer at the customer lounge but they have all the equipment to fix things. For instance they have a so called "body center" to check for any issues with the body joints, which I doubt the Glenmarie one has.

to iriz 1.3 users..i just found out that we can change our long and ugly antenna to myvi's antenna..
very easy to install..just twist the antenna and it fits perfectly  biggrin.gif

and the price is very cheap..under rm50
however i havent test out the reception yet hmm.gif
*
QUOTE(Ms. Shrek @ Sep 22 2015, 04:21 PM)
test n tell me...if ok, i want to change the antena...
*
It fits but the reception is generally horrible. In the FB groups there were a few people who thought they could get away with it but ended up changing back to the original because the reception was so bad.

I'm wondering if the Persona one will work, as both models use the same brand.

I know right, very useful.

Although mine is cvt, when i release brake at steep slope then car in front suddenly stopped. , i freaked out n immediately press brake again.

But the brake pedal was stiff which means HHA was active
*
Once when stopped on a slope a truck ahead of me stalled and rolled backwards. The brake was stiff as HHA was activated so I couldn't go anywhere, LOL. I now realised I could've switched to N gear but didn't think of it when panicking.

Anyone wonder how to replace the rear drums with discs? Any compatible model from Proton?
*
Rear disc brakes aren't that much better than drums. Also bear in mind that the brakes are closely related to the ESC (which in turn is based on ABS), so you risk messing it up if not done correctly.

Maybe wait a little longer for the brakes to wear out a bit first, because it's a waste to change it so soon. Don't forget about the warranty that you'll likely void!

*
There's definitely music streaming. Press media until you get to "BT STREAM".

Good Early Morning of Korban guys, anyway, has anyone realise that the steering tends to be jumpy when going from high and then to medium speeds on highway? like when you slow down, and it starts getting jumpy. Is it the ABS? just like in Mitsu cars?
*
Why would ABS affect steering when you're not emergency braking? Sounds like you slowed down gradually rather than suddenly so it can't be ABS kicking in. Even if it was, it has nothing to do with your steering getting "jumpy".

It might be the speed-sensitive assistance. The higher the speed, the less power steering you get, so the stiffer it is. Maybe after you slowed down, more assistance comes back so it becomes lighter and you were caught off guard.

Took a drive to the seaside today. Ventured into the sand, nearly got stuck but the Traction Control kicked in. Could see the light illuminate and the engine power reduced. Kinda scary but it did its job smile.gif

Good explanation, kinda makes sense, just saying from experience cause before this when I drove my dad's Pajero sport, and my cousin's Lancer X, this sorta thing happened, and their SC said it was the ABS.
*
Maybe he meant EPS (Electric Power Steering) instead of ABS? If he really said the latter then the SC guy really needs to pick up a book, or he totally misunderstood you.

Checking out the pictures of the Iriz online and seeing them in the streets, I'm a bit disappointed about Proton's decision of using yellow headlights. My solution is to at least get some white bulbs for it, but I don't have my car yet so I don't know which bulbs does it use.
*
Disappointed with the "yellow lights"? These are very normal for non-luxury cars. The "white lights" you're referring to are LED/HID lights which are generally only found on luxury or high end cars, because they are very costly.

Even now, you'll find some lower end Mercedes and BMWs with the "yellow lights", because the LEDs are expensive and reserved for the higher end models. Some have a mixture of both (position and headlamps are different types). When the LED ("white") bulb needs replacing, you'll be crying when you find out how expensive it is.

At least, the Iriz is using projector headlamps, not the ancient reflector headlamps so I'm not sure why you're complaining. The new Myvi and City are still using reflectors.

Regardless, I understand that they are stylish so I don't blame you if you want to change it to the "white lights". Just hope you do it according to JPJ specifications because I've seen a lot of owners changing to HID bulbs but they're MUCH too bright, and not aligned properly so they shine directly into oncoming traffic.

The FC calculation on the multi information display doesn't seem to be accurate. My "average" stayed at 8.5L/100km but when I did a more accurate calculation it's only 6.1L/100km.

The door panel rattle is quite easy to fix. A technician fixed it within 30 minutes in the COE. They just "tambah getah" and now it's back to normal smile.gif

I'd say they can do it easily during a normal service. Just make show you tell the service advisor exactly where is the issue. Better still, record the noise beforehand.

Another question guys.

I have two keyfobs. and they are both different type lol.

One is Type A the other is Type B as shown in User Manual..
Type A without remote tailgate release just unlocking only, Type B with the remote tailgate release/unlocking button.

1.3 Exec has remote tailgate release function so shouldn't both keyfobs given be Type B? Instead of 1 Type A and 1 Type B hmm.gif
*
Maybe you can try holding down the unlock button for Type A to see if the tailgate function is there?

Just got my 1.3 exec cvt today, so disappointed....cvt throttle response is so terrible, almost got me into accident.

QUOTE(adijb @ Oct 3 2015, 08:49 AM)
Forgot to mention that the delayed response duration gets better over time.

Indeed. The jerkiness also lessened after two months or so. It's as though the car was learning to walk, like a baby tongue.gif

I just went for a joyride.

Took the Iriz for a run, went up to 4k rpm/120+km/h and heard the VVT breathing/roaring to life.  icon_idea.gif

Btw, CVT huh... From 0-100+ the speed just climbs and climbs. Like a train feeling. It just goes faster & faster. No gear changes, no upshift jerks/lags, smooth all the way. If one doesn't pay attention to the speedo, could be totally oblivious towards driving speed.  brows.gif

Btw want to ask for 1.3 CVT, what is the rpm @ speed.

Mine is 2.6k-ish rpm @ 100km/h but 2.9k~3k rpm @ 110km/h.

Is it correct?
*
Sounds about right. 140kph would be about 4k rpm for me.

Creaking sound? Easy, grease up!!
Apply grease to door hinges

For me the grease didn't work. Easily fixed by the SC who "reattached the screws".

So I checked out the Shah Alam COE, but it has really bad reviews. Mostly of the past few years, some of this year. Has any of you been there recently? Are they still slow and lazy as these reviews on foursquare say? I hope they've improved. sad.gif

My experience has been quite positive. Apart from the long wait times they've been quite willing to deal with my issues, even getting the technicians to come and check.
