Just amazing. One thing is that it's only available in November while I'm over here waiting to upgrade from my iPad 2.

I just wished they had a 32GB variant with cellular LTE.

Haha! My iPad 2 served me well for four years now. Just that I don't want to be paying so much for the 128GB just for cellular cause I don't want to be paying more than RM4k for a tablet.

I'm still okay with the RM3k range.

She not that interested in iPads actually. She's got an iPhone 6 but she always complain not big enough to watch shows and stuff. So yea.

I dunno whether it's worth it or not. I think the market value for my 16GB WiFi + Cellular is like around 500-600.

Epic 12.9-inch iPad Pro Available to Order Online Wednesday & Arrives in Stores Later This Week
iPad Pro Arrives in Over 40 Countries Including the US, UK, China & Japan

CUPERTINO, California — November 9, 2015 — Apple® today announced iPad Pro™ is available to order online on Wednesday, November 11, from Apple.com and will arrive at Apple’s retail stores, select carriers and Apple Authorized Resellers starting later this week. Apple Pencil™ and Apple’s new Smart Keyboard, also available to order on Wednesday, bring breakthrough levels of precision and utility to iPad Pro.

“The early response to iPad Pro from app developers and our customers has been incredible, and we’re excited to get iPad Pro into the hands of customers around the world this week,” said Philip Schiller, Apple’s senior vice president of Worldwide Marketing. “iPad Pro is the most powerful iPad we’ve ever made, giving users the ability to be even more creative and more productive with the epic 12.9-inch Retina display, powerful 64-bit A9X chip and groundbreaking Apple Pencil and new Smart Keyboard. We can’t wait to see what they do with iPad Pro.”

The new, larger iPad Pro features a stunning 12.9-inch Retina® display with 5.6 million pixels, the most ever in an iOS device, and groundbreaking performance with the new 64-bit A9X chip, rivaling most portable PCs. It is thin, light and delivers all-day 10-hour battery life* that users have come to expect from iPad®. Apple Pencil for iPad Pro makes drawing and sketching feel remarkably fluid and natural, and delivers incredible accuracy for activities like fine art illustration and detailed 3D design. A built-in Lightning® connector on Apple Pencil makes for quick and easy pairing and charging. Apple’s new Smart Keyboard further extends the utility of iPad Pro, offering a full-sized keyboard in a thin, durable design so you can take it anywhere. The Smart Keyboard attaches to iPad Pro’s innovative Smart Connector port, eliminating the need for a separate battery, on/off switch or Bluetooth pairing.

iPad Pro has already inspired developers of the next generation of advanced apps for everything from productivity, design, illustration, engineering and medical, to education, gaming and entertainment.

“iPad Pro enables new forms of mobile creativity that will help transform how creatives work,” said Scott Belsky, vice president of Products at Adobe. “With the larger iPad Pro screen and lightning-fast performance, creatives will be able to take full advantage of Adobe’s family of Creative Cloud mobile apps. For example, the ability to manipulate a 50-megapixel image right on iPad Pro in Photoshop Fix and then send that image to Photoshop CC on a desktop, for further refinement, is the kind of industry-advancing collaboration that millions of Adobe and Apple customers will benefit from.”

“Creative thinkers worldwide use Paper as part of their workflow, designing everything from flow charts, to storyboards, to wireframes, to architectural sketches. iPad Pro is the ultimate platform for Paper, with a powerful 12.9-inch Retina display and A9X chip that deliver performance rivaling most portable PCs,” said Georg Petschnigg, CEO and co-founder of FiftyThree. “iPad Pro gives Paper users an even bigger and more dynamic canvas on which to rapidly capture ideas however they strike — as notes, photos, sketches or diagrams.”

“Procreate 3 is designed for iPad Pro to give artists a more immersive experience than ever before,” said James Cuda of Savage Interactive. “iPad Pro’s gorgeous 12.9-inch Retina display lets you create massive artworks: up to an incredible 16K in resolution. This new level of definition allows for large format printing and exceptionally detailed artworks. Procreate 3 is also built for Apple Pencil. Its remarkable accuracy, pressure sensitivity, tilt detection and palm rejection make Apple Pencil the tool we’ve been waiting for.”

“iPad Pro and Apple Pencil are the new pad and pen,” said Evi Meyer, CEO of 3D sketching app UMake. “With its simple use and powerful computing capacity, designers can leverage these tools to reimagine their sketching experience and finally elevate their flat work to 3D. UMake, iPad Pro and Apple Pencil finally empower professional designers to embrace innovation, along with their creativity.”

Pricing & Availability
iPad Pro starts at $799 (US) for the 32GB with Wi-Fi model and $1079 (US) for the Wi-Fi + Cellular 128GB model and comes in three gorgeous metallic finishes including silver, gold and space gray and can be purchased at Apple.com, Apple’s Retail stores, select carriers and select Apple Authorized Resellers.
Apple Pencil will be available for $99 (US) and Smart Keyboard will be available in charcoal gray for $169 (US).**
iPad Pro will be available in Anguilla, Antigua and Barbuda, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Cayman Islands, China, Czech Republic, Denmark, El Salvador, Finland, France, Germany, Gibraltar, Greenland, Guatemala, Hong Kong, Hungary, Ireland, Isle of Man, Italy, Japan, Liechtenstein, Luxembourg, Malaysia, Mexico, Monaco, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Puerto Rico, Russia, Singapore, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Thailand, Trinidad and Tobago, Turkey, UAE, US, UK, Uruguay and US Virgin Islands.
New, Apple-designed polyurethane iPad Pro Smart Covers will be available for $59 (US) in charcoal gray and white. New iPad Pro Silicone Cases will be available for $79 (US) in charcoal gray and white.
Every customer who buys iPad Pro at an Apple Retail Store will be offered free Personal Setup to help them customize their iPad Pro by setting up email, showing them new apps from the App Store® and more, so they’ll be up and running with their new iPad Pro before they leave the store.
Anyone who wants to learn more about the new iPad Pro or iOS 9 can register for the free workshops offered at every Apple Store®.

* Battery life depends on device settings, usage and other factors. Actual results may vary.
** Smart Keyboard for iPad Pro is available in a US English keyboard layout.

Still waiting for truly professional aps though. All the current Adobe iOS apps, for example, you still need to export your work to the OS X or Windows versions to finish up and print/publish.

ya i think for 90% of users, a proper laptop or surface pro 4 is a better value.

thanksfully mine will be charged under company and will speed up my day to day illustration works a lot. I have tried ALL kinda of stylus for iPad (Wacom,Adonit etc) and those klunky stylus hacks and latency has been killing my productivity for years. The reason I m not a fan of surface is the softwares, not optimized and plenty of frictions. The previous Galaxy Note Pro 12.2" which I bought was the worst.

For some, it can be the only machine.

A good surface pro 4 (Core i7 chip) costs up to RM7k so I doubt that value seems to come into the minds of people looking for it.

For me I dont need a device that does everything, i just need one that does few things very very good. in my case illustrations, even with cintiq i still need to go through all the sludge of booting computer, launching adobe slow bloated craps before starting to actually work...kills all momentum.

With iPad Pro, its like picking up a paper and start drawing #bliss

Even Jony Ive team are moving away from traditional paper. No more silly scanning after drawing and all those nonsense. No wonder launch only, pencil backlogged to 4-5weeks now in order, all artists and designers have been waiting for this for 5 years. Thankfully my order is within a week time in the first batch.

I explained that because they are a lot people evaluating the value between a surface pro 4 and ipad pro. and if you are looking at numbers of things these devices can do for most ppl, surface pro 4 is a better value for a similar priced configuration.

I explained that because they are a lot people evaluating the value between a surface pro 4 and ipad pro. and if you are looking at numbers of things these devices can do for most ppl, surface pro 4 is a better value for a similar priced configuration.
*
LOL I think you tagged the wrong guy as I wasn't evaluating any of these devices. Both don't suit my needs at all.

Been reading a lot about the iPad Pro these last 48 hours. For now, I'll pass.

Part of my job requires illustrations as well, but right now, I don't have an iOS version of Corel Painter or equivalent. Same for Adobe Illustrator - their iOS sketching apps are good for rough prototyping and initial stages, but you still need to export to the desktop via Adobe CC to finish the job and have it ready for printing/publishing. That's where the iPad Pro truly fails at Pro, imho. No true desktop replacement applications that allow me to start and (more importantly) finish a job that I can send to the print lab or magazine editor straight away. No (afaik) iOS solution for color management and screen calibration. No proper drivers for large format Epson, HP, Lambda, etc giclee printers.

To add to that, iOS multitasking still has a long ways to go before it can even be deemed workable. Heck, even now we still get that bloody Tips icon in the pane. Who the hell even uses Tips after their first day on iOS?!

So yeah, TL;DR - it might be great for some people with very specific needs, but for a lot of people in advertising, design, photography, etc - it's barely useable. Not that a Surface Pro is that much better, but at least you can install full Photoshop or Corel Painter on a Surface Pro. Until Apple get software houses to release full desktop class suites that allow me to do everything in the iPad Pro and ditch OS X, it'll just be a bigger iPad. The most it can do is work as a graphic tablet with Astropad, but in that department my Wacom + Airbrush pens would completely obliterate it for photo retouching work.

I really hope that changes in the coming months, because I've grown sick of OS X. But as of right now, I can't justify company money on it.

Size comparison with the Surface Book. I cannot in good conscience consider getting it without trying it together with the Apple Pencil and Smart Keyboard. Apple Pencil coming next week, Smart Keyboard no estimate dates.

Inconcolusive. The only reason for me that the iPad Pro exist is to replace a laptop, and the Smart Keyboard is not here to allow me to judge that. Apple Pencil for drawing only if I'm bored, not much of an artist. Until the Smart Keyboard arrives and I've ample chance to try it out based on what I can do on my 2015 Macbook that it is going to replace, I'm not buying it.

Compared to the Surface Book, it is severely inadequate. The Surface Book is a full fledged laptop in tablet form. The iPad Pro is a tablet trying to be a laptop. Full desktop OS versus mobile OS. Surface Book is far more versatile and useful. But then again, the Surface Book is far more expensive than an iPad Pro, so that may be a further consideration.

I need my Surface Pro (3 not 4) to run Windows-based software which is used in the information systems at work. There are no MaOSc or iOS equivalents. My Surface running Win8 was fine. I dropped it however and required a replacement and the one that Microsoft sent back to me came with Win10. This keeps bluescreening. I've disable Cortana and while the frequency of Bluescreens have decreased it still happens. No added software other than MS Office. Seriously Microsoft - you need to get your act together.

The iPad Pro (128Gb Wifi/LTE however has been a sheer joy to use. String is right. It needs a keyboard to be a laptop but even without - the fact that it doesn't bluescreen while I'm trying to get work done is a HUGE plus.

Yes. I overcame sticker shock. And am glad I did.

Flying to Amsterdam tonight. Plan is to head to Apple Store Amsterdam to properly test drive the Smart Keyboard and Apple Pencil.

They won't be available though, marked as only available in 4-5 weeks time. Apple really dropped the ball this time. I dare say that majority of the folks getting the iPad Pro will either be working in the capacity of creative creation using the Apple Pencil or planning to be productive while using the Smart Keyboard. Selling it only as a huge iPad is more of a half-fulfilled promise. SMH.

Was at 1U to test the Pro

1) u really need to get a good screen protector - the display set was .... nicely painted with finger prints ie OIL !
2) the thing is huge ! Like a serving tray in an air plane ! :-)
3) its thin also ......beware if u like to read and put your reading material on your seat when u go do something ....to keep the seat warm . Forget that its there and u sit on it even slightly/off center........very high chance og #bendGate
4)after all that , trying to help Apple justify its product , then got the sticker shock !
Enough to make a down payment for a condo or car

iPad Air 2 next to it really makes the Air 2 look like an iPad Mini !

It's curious how size changes everything. If you think about it, the iPad Pro runs the same software essentially as your iPhone. Scale it up to it's present proportions and it becomes a different device entirely. Something that you have to see to believe. I remember thinking i won't buy the iPad, it after all is simply "an iPhone on steroids" then buying it immediately when I saw it in the store.

the iPad Pro is similar. There are some critical differences though:

1. Swiping from the right side of the screen enables split screen. Very useful. I'd like to be able to run a mouse though. I could never cut and paste with my finger quite as effectively or drag and drop without a mouse.

2. Installing a LTE SIM (RM15 per month via Maxis) allows me to use the same data plan than usually remains underused and means I am now connected everywhere

3. Accessing my networked hard drive in bed to watch downloaded content (read: torrents) is amazing with the four speakers of this fella

4. Reading Magazines and Books is the closest thing to paper ever. Better cos you don't need to switch on the bedside light. You might think that not having to scroll is a small thing. It is NOT.

5. This thing is blazingly fast. With optimized software. Something that Microsoft with the Surface simply fail to understand after all these years: it's not enough to have killer hardware. You cripple the software and it's still a lemon.

This is going to be a runaway success. Even more so when the installed software base catches up to the new capabilities of the machine.

if you are not into drawing, 3D, CAD, illustrations etc. the answer is NO. Honestly, i dont think many ppl need the iPad Pro, have good use of it or gain much value from it at this stage, very niche product. something like Mac Pro.

For me personally and my specific needs, i have been waiting for this iPad and the pencil for almost 5 years already!

I was hoping that Apple release the smart case like the iPad Air and Air 2, but they came up with silicone case and also smart cover.

QUOTE(MacDaNife @ Nov 17 2015, 08:10 AM)

Even more so when the installed software base catches up to the new capabilities of the machine.

no idea i think good enough to last much longer than those cheap one at lelong (4H) and crystal clear. only sp available when i was at macstudio, didn't border to wait or check elsewhere or buy online.

anyway, the pencil is amazing, everything I have hoped for and more, light year ahead every other stylus out there and closest thing to a real pencil minus all the limitations and hassle of traditional media. Surface Pro 4 stylus feels like crayon compared to pencil. Definitely the best accessory i ever bought.

While using cintiq feel like tied to desk working, big sludgy and heavy (13HD still stuck with lame bygone hardware like 1080p display and really bad touch sensitivity), ipad pro feels more like leisure, frictionless, light and convenient. i can pickup and start drawing anytime instantly on my sofa etc, very pleasurable and satisfying to use. iPad Pro + Apple Pencil - an artist dream tool!

they didn't become the wealthiest company in the world by giving things away haha. but seriously the pencil is not a replacement of finger as the primary input method, its more like a specific tool for certain subset of users for higher precision work like CAD and drawing.

but don't worry i m sure the next Samsung Note Pro will come with Samsung Pencil in. the box wink.gif

Hi, it is roughly RM80.
Almost the same with the Monifilm.
They only have the tempered glass one.
Quality so far so good.
But this is more for temporary as iPad Pro still new and not so many accessories out yet.

By the way, are you using any case?

My previous iPads never scratched so am forgoing the screen protector. Bought the front cover and back cover. It's labelled as silicone but has a felt - like texture. Not rubbery. I like it. But at almost RM400 for just the back case😳.... It's a scam...

ya ridiculous price..i only bought the back first as its most easily scratched. i use sp for the front as my old ipads scratched before with fine lines using stylus, not noticeable but if you shine light on it can see them (maybe the way i draw haha) i m waiting for a white smart keyboard (apple or 3rd party) for the front, the current grey not my cup of tea wink.gif

was planning to do a video comparison of ipad pro vs the ridiculousness of the dinosaur Cintiq but someone already posted it (exact same thought and setup!)

ordered first thing they release on 11th and receive on 19th morning. i m in the first 3-5 days shipping batch before they backdated 5-7 weeks to December. Macstudio said their stocks will come in 2 weeks time. I think Apple is ramping up the availability for Christmas, should be easy to get after mid December

My friend told me this friday hopefully their stocks come.
This time not so much hype from the accessories maker though, make it hard to get a case for it.

Got my iPad Pro, weeks ago.

At first, reading and watching review, seems like mixed.. Some argues that it's just a big iPad, does nothing.

I got his same perception too when iPad came out. It was just the same as iPhone. Who would want to get a bigger screen iPhone?

This iPad Pro is excellent for me. My colleagues as k me with the price tag, you can get a MacBook. But laptop is laptop. You can't use it while in bed and the "clamshell" for laptop is troublesome and inconvenient. iPad Pro is like a laptop screen but tablet is just awesome.

I have to agree with some reviewers out there. It's big and need time to adjust and currently, not much support yet. But it's great for reading, watching video and somehow, typing much faster in Pro compared to Normal size iPad.

Got my Apple Smart Keyboard from Machines KLCC. Called Machines Gardens and was told that Keyboard and Pencil were available ONLY in KLCC. Tried to call KLCC but nobody was answering the line. Went to KLCC and bought the smart keyboard but.... was told the all the pencils were "reserved". All those times I've inquired for the pencil at KLCC tak pernah pulak anyone offered to "reserve" one for me.

What crappy customer service. Asked for the manager: Hanafiah and told him so too.

Hi all, I am considering to replace my mom's Samsung Tab S with the Ipad Pro 128gb.
Can I have some brief feedback on this tablet?
Also, will it be hard to source for a good casing for this tablet?
Thanks smile.gif

Long story. They actually always say "not in stock" whenever I asked.

The second last time I was there I was told "not in stock". When I asked why the online system (from calling another Machines shop) lists it is "available" they say those units "are reserved". So I asked to see the manager (Hanafi) and asked how I get on the "reserved" list. He duly took my name card and mobile number and said he'd call me.

Yesterday I called (spoke to Sha) and asked if the Apple Pencil that I reserved had arrived (since reading here that it was available). Was told that there was no such reservation service. I told her the story in the first paragraph and was told that reservations were "only for friends of the owner". I thanked "Sha" for her clarification and indicated my disappointment by this policy, in particular of being misled to think that there was acutally a method for "non special people i.e. those not lucky enough to be friends with the owner" to obtain an Apple Pencil. After this "Sha" said she would talk to her manager (Irene) and voila: an Apple pencil, previously reserved by some important person, became available.

I only had to IMMEDIATELY drive over to pick (and of course pay) for the (incredibly rare: like a Unicorn) item.

Lucky you, man. I didn't reserve so I guess it was just pure luck. They didn't even put the price tag yet.

You can PM them through FB first, upon confirmation of availability, request for the name of person in charge to talk to in order to get it.

Had issues with the pencil disconnecting...was frustrating. It seems i have been playing with the tip/nib of the pencil and when its unscrewed it stops it working, even if you just fiddle a little bit with it.
