Hi Guys,

Anyone can advise me:

1. DSLR which best in capturing video and still picture (budget below RM5k).
2. Laptop which can edit the captured video/picture by using simple editing software (budget also below RM5k).

Both will be used by our reporter that to be stationed at all states in Malaysia and the video will be ftped back to our office.

Thanks guys.

There is no best DLSR imho. A good photo/videographer can make use of a normal DSLR to produce good quality of videos/photos. But with a budget of 5k, you can get a Canon EOS 70D with 18-200mm kitlens already. Do research before purchase yea. icon_rolleyes.gif

For laptop, you can consider Illegear Z5. It is quite reliable but you may wanna consider to upgrade the ram to 12gb or 16gb since you are going to do video editing. Since you have a budget of 5k, you can also consider to upgrade the HDD to SSD. Will definitely boost the laptop performance. biggrin.gif

Is Illegear suitable for gaming? Any HP laptop or MacBook for recommendation?
For simple editing software, is Movie Maker ok since its comes free with Windows/Mac OS?

Have a look. Both models are below 5k. thumbup.gif
HP ENVY 15-ae014TX Laptop/ Notebook (i7-5500U, 1TB, 8GB, 25GB SSD, NV GTX950M, W8.1)
13-inch MacBook Pro with Retina display (LED-backlit Retina display, 3.1GHz dual-core Intel Core i7 processor, 10 hours battery life, 1TB, 1.58 kg)

Movie maker is very simple and lacks of awesome features. For instance, it does not offer nearly the amount of editing tools that it could. Because you can only have one video track, you are unable to use alpha channels or green screen footage in this program. As a result, you are creatively limited to the effects already installed in the program. Moreover, there are complains about the software that crashes a lot. Hence, it is a very limiting software, despite the fact that it is easy to be used/mastered.

How is a 13-inch Macbook Pro Retina /w 3.1 GHz & 1TB below RM5k?? Even the lowest/entry spec for MBPr (2.7 Ghz & 128GB) is already at RM4.7k...

FPCX is far cheaper than Adobe premier pro.
Also apple movie maker equivalent is better than windows movie maker.

In most casual cases, no.
Processor plays a more important role.

Of course when you start using after effects/motion, GPU will play a more important role.

I find MBP colour adjusted accurately and also the laptop is very good for photo editing
