QUOTE(Khalid21 @ Oct 18 2015, 10:39 AM)
can give some comparison between them..
*
Outlook: XV, I like the back of it alot, while ASX looks dated as we know.
Performance : Probably Boxer engine
Ride and Handling: XV, again hands down
Comfort: ASX. I would try the rear seat enhanced version if the price and rebate is good
Noise level : ASX. My wife complaint for XV for its windsound and tyre noise
Panaromic Roof : Bonus for ASX. Really nice feeling. How practical is it for you guys normally. Do you guys open it most of time?
Fuel Consumption : ASX but not by far i think. Someone enlighten me on XV FC as the SA told me RM0.21/km but I saw 0.17-0.18/km claimed online feedbacks
Also worth mention is that I think XV has better safety as it possess real good solid chassis.

I'm in confusion. One gives more towards performance and driving experience while the another is more suitable for a family car imo.

Well, hopefully the price and upcoming rebate will help me settle down.

I tested both XV and ASX last week also. Here are my brief opinion:

XV (Sport ver)
- Responsive acceleration and quiet engine + gearbox
- Balance steering feel (not too heavy or light)
- Firm suspension, but still acceptable for daily drive
- Plain dashboard layout, nothing fancy
- Intrusive tyre noise above 80kph+
ASX (4WD)
- Noisy acceleration and not so responsive (don't know from engine or gearbox, just noisy ok)
- Light steering (lady driver might like it)
- Like the moon roof
- Comfy suspension
*
Yeah, the same opinion for the acceleration and suspension.
Both models are going to redesign probably 2016 which would arrive M'sia maybe nearer 2017

So which model are you going for?

What is the current rebate for highest spec 4WD FL version now?

I get 7k rebate so far, but still considering which to go for.

ASX 2WD, XV or ASX 4WD.

Have you guys encountered or solved the rubber/oil smell at higher speed/ sudden acceleration?

Going to test the 2WD tomorrow. At close price, I'm confused whether to get ASX 2WD or Lancer GTE (CBU)

Toyota cannot ad la~ Now even throw its selling price with rebates. Their RV also suffer from that.

The important thing is, I have certain doubts about ASX ( rubber/oil smell, noise, and weak pickup)
Whereas for Lancer, probably the dated outlook is the only concern
One is CBU another is CKD I afraid that would bring qc difference after purchase, too.

Apart from this, I would like to know does the lack of traction control and lateral turn control affect the driving experience between 2wd and 4wd.

For ASX, I like to take the blue color.

Correction. Traction control don't make the car stable and easy to control. Traction Control only kicks in when u lost traction. Mitsubishi call it Asc @ active stability control. When it is doing its wonder u will see the asc icon flashing on the meter. Otherwise it is just monitoring doing nothing.

Bro how you experience any with the rubber/oil smell problem.

Traction control nothing to shout about.. It's the stability control which is more important.

According to SA traction control only works when in 4WD mode.

Yup,together with Active Stability Control
Which make me wonder if 2wd is less driving fun than 4wd

QUOTE(infinityv @ Nov 12 2015, 09:42 AM)
Good day to all owners/sifus,

I had been surveying and surveying for the past 6 months and comparing ASX, CX5, XV and HRV

My thoughts(test drove all units):-

1. HRV > out of the list due to torsion beam (handling so so )

2. CX5 2WD > spacious, handling good, performance ok...downside many necessary accessories removed(reverse sensor, front sensor)....also seems got rebate RM4k

3. XV > superb handling(took sharp corner at about 90kmh, can hear the back tyre screeching yet the car moved on without drama)....downside lack of accessories, concern as Boxer engine maintenance.....now price RM114k without GST

4. ASX > test drove before FL model...its comfortable, nice to drive....downside noisy, backseat too straight
ASX FL > backseat good, sound system improved (on the VAPS feature), the new HU might be Clarion bcoz noticed Clarion using VAPS term and design look similar
My query for FL owners,

1. How is the new CVT feel?
2. NVH improved?
3. Steering EPS or hydraulic?

General query,

4. Fuel consumption figures
Tq 4 ur kind sharing...

How much is Mazda CX5 after rebate?

QUOTE(Refuzed @ Nov 12 2015, 11:38 AM)
I test drove the 4WD FL version that day (too bad as they didn't had the 2WD unit).

Overall I am happy with the performance. However, I got a few questions:

1) May I know what is the exact issue with the pre-FL unit in regards to rear seat? Is it because of the small rear legroom or non-reclining seats or perhaps both? In the FL version, I am not sure but the rear legroom still looks a bit small to me.

2) In the FL version, can we play movie files directly from thumb drives? (e.g. .avi, .mp4, .mpeg etc.).

3) As an ASX owner, what are the reactions/comments that you get from others when they see your ride? biggrin.gif (as I understand that ASX is kind of rare)

Cheers.
*
1) the pre-FL versions had less recline degree rear seats so you would feel sitting straight that affect the overall comfort. The car interior space remain the same. If you're comparing between pre-FL and FL then I'd say this improvement is significant and worth to just get the FL version.

2) -na-

3) I'm alot concern about the rubber/oil smelling problem, the degree of experience may vary, but this quite setback from me buying ASX anyhow.

is free for the 1st year lo.. 1k only inspection  .. dint do anything  .. and the 96k is really cheap lo.

btw . my car is 40 days old with 1.6km mileage .. lately when I am using paddle shifter to manual driving .. whenever after revving ..there was a smell.. I don't know what is that smell.... any idea.  burnt smell I guess?..

Yup, it's a known issue to CKD ASX. It was one of the reason I dint go for ASX either.
It is not a problem that can be solved as I heard. But it happens only when high speed/ sudden acceleration
However, I heard from my SA saying the new version doesn't have that problem anymore.
