Hey Brothers and sisters.
I'm currently looking for a used 4WD ASX from Yr2015 onwards (Since it is more fully equipped based on best of my research)
as my daily driver now is an manual proton inspira, i'd more or less understood the common issues with the engines, suspension and any parts that commonly shared between those cars.
However, i'm not too sure about the cvt gear box as well as the 4WD system. Is there any things that i'd need special attention with? and how can 1 know if the 4wd system is working? Any owner can share their experience would be awesome.
in the mean while i'll digest through the comment in the thread for more information.
Thanks.

QUOTE(Savor_Savvy @ May 12 2021, 09:52 PM) I hardly use the 4wd, but I recall you can feel the difference between 2wd and 4wd mode while driving. I think the easiest way to test it out it to get it up on a dirt hill, but i doubt the salesman would allow it Anyway, Is your ASX still with you? Mind to share if you've any major issues with it through your ownership so far? Thanks.

QUOTE(Savor_Savvy @ Jun 21 2021, 08:04 PM) Yes still owning one. I hardly drive the car actually, but so far so good. No issues. Nice. Good to hear that. My guess is it is as reliable as the lancer/inspira. (aside from all the rattling sounds due to old age)

QUOTE(n4tea @ Jun 27 2021, 12:08 PM) Normally I'll use 2wd. Will switch on 4wd auto when raining or driving road with many turns at high speed, can feel the car more stick to the road and more responsive. 4wd lock is advice for off road use, not for high speed. The only issue I'm facing is the odour when going up hill. But after flashing the ecu seems better now. nice. Guess i'll test it out in the corners then. If i'm not mistaken, i've read somewhere else off forum that the odor was due to water droplets from the aircond pipe to the exhaust manifold. He manage to get it done by putting on some insulation sleeve on the droplet part

Just got my used 2015 ASX on last Saturday. Gotta say, handling wasn't too far off from the inspira i trade it in for. But i still find it difficult to adapt to the CVT. I'm not sure was it normal but the throttle was very sensitive when launching from standstill. And because of that, for my first drive, 70% City 30% highway, i manage to get only 8km/L. Then again the 4WD system was on 50% of the time. Plus the previous owner had 225/60/R17 on so i think all of these factors add on to the high fuel consumption, at least that's what i thought. Overall was pretty satisfied about the car.

QUOTE(Savor_Savvy @ Jan 21 2022, 09:35 AM) Mine is at 10-12km/L, town area. Not utilizing 4wd. Town area i manage to get about constant 10km/L. Tried so hard to do 11km/L in full town drive but not gonna happen with all that traffic lights and jam. I realize that fuel econ not so much difference with or without the 4wd on. about 0.1km/L or sometimes no difference at all.

I came from manual inspira before asx thou. still kinda regret making the switch but not anymore after i move to 86. sticking back to the thread, ASX did serve me well during my ownership. it is a good car that ppl missed out imo.
