QUOTE(gbcsk @ Jun 30 2016, 12:10 AM) I went to the showroom to check out the ASX interior, the rear seat is not that straight, in fact it is quite nice angle to sit, just the leather is quite firm. Maybe they have now adjusted the rear seat angle ? Was the sitting position was like 90 degree up right ? my wife just took delivery of her ASX yesterday and I drove it briefly. Below are my own personal opinion.Any other major issues with ASX which scares people away ? However the Mitsu CVT, is that problematic ? Is the ASX suspension stiff and towards comfort drive, bumpy over uneven roads ? I heard the cabin noise is obvious, will go and test drive this weekend to feel the ride quality. Pros: 1) Panoramic Roof (quite amazing to sit at the traffic junction and admire the sky) ) 2) Pretty decent sound quality from sound system 3) Head Unit is quite easy to use 4) Front seats are definitely great for a fat arse like me 5) Throttle response feels good, decent power when required (0-40km/h) 6) Cabin is pretty silent 7) Throw in Security Film 8) Pretty Feature packed (half-way through the thick manual) 9) 4WD button Cons: 1) EPS Steering is really zero feedback 2) Likely lack of top end power range 3) Door opening and closing feels cheap 4) Lack of power seat 5) Road bump is felt not through steering but your buttock Conclusion: Basically can tell it is a decent 100+k crossover which I find my money is well spend. Definitely cannot expect the unreasonable. At least my wife seems happy with her new ride. |

QUOTE(gbcsk @ Jun 30 2016, 10:51 AM) I see, yours is the 4WD version, so the power could be sufficient, maybe the 2WD is under power ? I think both variants are running the same engine and gearing system, in fact if activated, 4WD should be weaker in power delivery due to the power transmit to the 4 wheels.By the way, the panoramic roof is black top one ? Would it be very hot inside the cabin after parking under the sun for hours ? I have not got chance to sit in the car in the afternoon, I will check with wife and revert. So far have not hear much complains from her yet. |

Ok, I decided to do a more in-depth driving experience in ASX so been driving my wife around instead over the weekend.
Apparently, I love the sound system and how easy it is configure and try to optimize. Of course cannot expect ICE SQ level. After around 30km of distance covered, I get used to the CVT and steering. Basically the suspension are hard on this car, however pro and cons also, if you are doing city driving, the ride gets a bit uncomfortable when you felt every hump and bumps, given the quality of Malaysia road paving, ride can be harsh. However it becomes like a dream when you are cruising at 100km/h, with cruise set, basically rpm hardly reach 2k and cabin comfort is top notch in my personal opinion. Pertaining to heat from glass roof, I find the heat wave breaking through the side windows and front windscreen more than the roof, suspect there is some heat reduction coating to the glass roof. QUOTE(gbcsk @ Jul 4 2016, 10:29 PM) Thanks for the sharing. So riding on highway at 100-120KM/H is stable and steady ? basically the car is still in the process of running in, hence I did not exceed the 100km/h mark, the cabin noise level by far is still acceptable to me, however noise acceptance is pretty much a very subjective matter, what I can accept might be a highly irritating issue for others who are accustomed to continental build. I find myself developed a liking for this car after 2 days of driving her. So far in term of driving experience, handling sharpness, my proton iriz fared slightly better and top of the list will still be my F30 328i. However, in term of body build, I find ASX does decently. A nice touch will be a twin scroll turbo and 7 speed gear system to make this a pretty good car, but then, the ASX will be like BMW X1 instead:)How about the cabin noise level while you cruised on the highway ? |
