When Iphone price increased, still got many of us going to buy. This also explained certain of Malaysians still got financial capability to buy such goods.

Life's good, enjoy rclxms.gif

I remember looking on GSM Arena on Note 5 announcement, the next day Samsung already setting up new booths of the device at some malls in SG.

My gf has a 5s and is on a two year contract which ends in October. Yesterday she got a call from Starhub (local SG telco) and they asked her if she wanted to renew with a new 6s. Okay, they didn't specifically say 6s. Instead, they said "Apple's upcoming model".

Will wait and see if any full-featured design and photo editing apps are released for the iPad Pro by the time it's released.

If Adobe release a Photoshop and Illustrator version (or another company releases an equivalent) where I can do everything from the drafting to editing to the final print/publish stage (it's my job) on the tablet without needing to finish up on desktop, I'll go for the iPad Pro 128GB plus keyboard and stylus, whatever the price, and retire my rMBP - we still have Macs in the office in case I need to collab with collegues. I've been waiting for years for Apple to release a proper desktop replacement iOS device. Now they've done it, so it's left to the software developers to do their part. Still a big if though, since I'll need a color calibrated display, and there's no sign of being able to do that on the iPad Pro, yet.

If that doesn't happen, I might consider the 6s. I'm already quite happy with my current 6, so maybe I'll just skip. Depends on money at the end of the day. It's easy to justify the iPad Pro if my job will benefit from it. New iPhone, harder to justify.

Maybe I can ask some rich arab for a "donation". Hmmm.....

Yes, phone + pay for device upgrade + insurance = device price monthly instalment credited to your bill, then select the Maxis One Plan of your choice and that gets added to your bill as well. After one year, return your device and exchange for a new device, and pay new device price monthly instalment.

Something like that. Ha ha..

So basically, even with the most basic data plan, you're still looking at something in the MYR$250/month zone for an iPhone 6s? But you can exchange for a new iPhone in 12 months time while continuing the same payment structure after that, or will they add some extra bullshit costs?

Hi guys,

I'm heading over to Singapore on the 24th this month for holiday, and so happens the phone is available the next day.  I'm staying over at Marina Bay Sands, can anyone here with experience of buying the iPhone from Singapore provide me with some advice on the below?

1. Buy from Apple Online Store or can get from their premium re-seller like EpiCenter?
2. If buy from Apple Online Store, cannot claim back the GST right?
3. If order from Apple Online Store, the address I should put hotel name and send to reception?

Thanks in advance!!  icon_question.gif

Firstly, how many days do you plan to stay in Singapore? Buying online during launch week will entail a long wait time, usually 2 week bare minimum.

1. Your best bet to get it on launch day is to go line up at a physical Apple store or premium re-seller.
2. AFAIK, if you're leaving SG via the causeway (ie, you're traveling by car or bus) - Cannot - https://www.iras.gov.sg/IRASHome/uploadedFi...20on%20eTRS.pdf (Q7). Some stores will sometimes waive the GST if you buy with a foreign credit card, but those are usually small private businesses and not chain stores). If buying from online store, confirm cannot.
3. You need to check with your hotel. Different hotels have different policies. A hotel with such high traffic like MBS, I'm doubtful unless you're a VIP guest.

"A crowd of more than 80 people formed a 100 metre-long queue outside Causeway Point Shopping Centre in Woodlands as of 9pm on Thursday (Sep 24), in anticipation of the launch of the latest iPhone on Friday - despite the worsening haze."

For those of you unfamiliar with Singapore, Woodlands is the district that's closest to the exit of the MY-SG causeway. I wonder how many of those lining up are from Johor. laugh.gif

You people and your Hollywood colours. All I want is the old dark blue-black from the iPhone 5 again sad.gif Or maybe the space-black from the Apple Watch. You know, a proper dude's sci-fi shade.

amen to that.
but not likely to happen now.
after gold and rose, maybe apple will add more luxurious color tones.

Are they really that luxurious looking? The gold always looked more Kelly Chen (ie; karaoke-hostess) than Karl Lagerfeld to me. laugh.gif

If your wifi somehow become disconnected or something, the phone will automatically switch to your data plan. Imagine you are downloading a movie or a big app. sweat.gif  Thats why I turned it off on day one I upgraded to IOS 9.
*
Yeah, they should have had Wifi assist disabled by default. It's all well and good if you're at home or in the office with a stable connection, but if you're out at some cafe or building where the connection drops out every now and then, I suspect you'll get data caps maxed out faster than normal.

.... but since Malaysia launching so fast I don't see the reason to buy US set.
*
One reason would be price. Let's take the most common model - 64GB iPhone 6
Currently, USD749 = MYR3260. If it's as everyone expected to be around MYR3500 when released in Malaysia, then you stand to save 200+ MYR, or more. Probably not worth it if you go through a mail order company and have to pay delivery (plus risk of GST when entering Malaysia), but if you know someone coming back from the US then go ahead. The downside is that you lose local warranty.

I myself is in the US now, but I don't see the reason to get US set. 9% non-refundable tax and unless you get it at a tax-free state.
*

Ah yeah, forgot about the sales tax. My cousin usually gets her in-laws in Dover, Delaware (tax free and money laundering capital of the US - Jib probably got bank account there also) to buy stuff for bringing back, that's why I forgot about the tax.
