There's nobody I pity more than average Singaporeans:

-They work like a dog for 30 years in soul-sucking office jobs they hate to pay for a $500,000 cramped flat that they don't even own (just a 99-year sub-leasehold), subject to HDB rules and regulations, random en-bloc sales, and housing racial quotas... That's after you wait two years for your flat and obediently get married like the PAP tells you to, just to be deluded that you're a "homeowner" when you're just a glorified subletter, since the flat is leased by HDB, which in turn leases the land for 999 years from the government of Singapore.

PJ is one of the most expensive real estates in malaysia

HDBs are deceptive

my grandmas one is like a PPk low cost flat here, back then people used to pee in the lift and its filthy as fuck. some places in sg are still like that

my own family place is nice 1k ish sq ft, but its tiresome and you are restricted to just 1. that also the noise, god the noise.

but important part about hDB is that how its done, you kinda have to qualify for it, and thats if theres enough allocation for units a year. some of them are not in great areas and can take up to 30 mins walk to MRT others side by side the bangala areas. if you dont however, then it might be secondary market which can get quite expensive, or private housing

my sis thankfully managed to get HDB, she had to under declare her income and kinda has fears the government finds out.

all of these also doesnt take into the account that HDB is a leasehold property with hefty laws (like no cats) that kinda defy the freedoms you get with standard malaysian property.
