Hi all sifu,
Idk if im doing the right thing or not . My first time using prime95 sweat.gif sweat.gif

just assemble 8700k with maximus hero.

First i OC to 4.8 with 1.2V, run cinebench and prime95. all looks good. Then i tried 5.0 @ 1.2V --> BSOD biggrin.gif

and finally i try 5.0 GHz @ 1.25V and run for few hours still no bsod. but the temp quite hight

Is this the right way to test the cpu?

Nice try but I could see that your prime95 at 5.0GHz is not stable (3 workers has stopped running) probably because of insufficient core voltage.
I'd like to guess the required voltage but first of of all may I know your stock VID? (clear CMOS and check the core voltage in UEFI)

oh you're right. I didnt even notice it cry.gif

1.104v, good chip you got there.
I'm guessing it needs about 1.296v for 5GHz OC.
Also use CPU Load-line Calibration (LLC) level 6 to minimize the load voltage fluctuation.

Is it okay to increase the voltage and use it for long term. Last night i change back to 4.8 @ 1.2V the temperature at 100% load looks good around 60+ . but for this 5.0 GHz @1.25 the temperature quite high. max at 90 celcius and most of the time at 80+ at full load. Should i just let it run @ 4,8?

keep it under 80c.. not that it harms the cpu but above 80.. theres like a wattage leakage which requires higher voltage for stability.

Currently just using the X62 out of the box. Should i reapply new thermal paste? i still have my thermal grizzly kryonaut.

my x62 radiator fan max speed is about 1.1k rpm only based on CAM. I have extra fan and would it help to reduce the temp if i change nzxt stock fan with noctua 14cm 3000rpm fan for the radiator?

Thanks man. Finally got some time to try this setting. thumbup.gif

Set in bios 1.28V
LLC level 6

Still running Prime95. Lets see what will happen biggrin.gif

So i stopped my stress test after 4 hours without any error. I guess that's enough? or need more.

For AVX offset, do I really need to set it? I read your post previously it is being used in games such as bf but I dont play that game hehehe. I tried running prime95 with avx offset 3, so it runs @ 4.7GHz the whole time? confused.gif
