Guys I’m a noob in OC- do we look at max temps or current temps from HWMONITOR when stress testing under prime 95?

Edited with photos for all cores at 5.1ghz with 0 avx and 1.335vcore highest max temp at 88 degrees..

Not delidded... is it a good cpu? Using 8086k

Look for max and average temps.
Max temp cannot exceed TJmax of 100c otherwise your OC will be automatically throttled down to lower clock.
BTW where's your screenie of the 5.1GHz OC?

5.1 @ 1.335v is almost identical to my 8700K, mine needed 1.344v for 5.1GHz

Not sure how the attachment went missing... here it goes again.

The software I used was cinebench. Ran it a few times it was ok. Around 88 max.

I tried small fft using prime 95 latest software and I got 100 max.... sigh does it mean it’s throttled?

Yes, once your CPU temps hit 100c mark means your OC has failed and got throttled.
Cinebench doesn't use AVX instruction so not as stressful as Prim95 v29.4 with AVX enabled.
So i can guess your 8086K is not better than an average chip.

To run AVX software such as Prime95, you will need:
4.9GHz @ 1.280v
5.0GHz @ 1.344v
5.1GHz @ 1.408v

For Cinebench R15:
4.9GHz @ 1.216v
5.0GHz @ 1.280v
5.1GHz @ 1.344v

Oh well, does that mean I got a lemon?

I tried playing on ultra settings for PUBG, for about 30-45 mins and it maxed out at 82. Load about low 60s.

Should I lower the clock? Or the temps are fine?

Please give me some advice sifu 😂

Edit: my temps are already 100 on 1.335vcore for 5.1.. if it goes 1.408v I think it’ll burn the cpu lol
