Yes, stock VID is the vCore that you see when everything is default.
So, in your case 1.056v is indeed your stock VID in which is better than any average chip out there (1.1v+).

btw, ASUS has just released a new BIOS 1401 for Maximus X series:

Here's the link for Hero X:
https://www.asus.com/us/Motherboards/ROG-MA.../HelpDesk_BIOS/

Version 1401
2018/06/158.31 MBytes
ROG MAXIMUS X HERO BIOS 1401
01. Improved DRAM stability
02. Improve system performance.
03. Updated CPU microcode
04. Updated ME firmware

Will test out soon and report.

Can you suggest a good 360mm AIO? Plan on doing a front push pull setup. Will be doing a 3 hours custom blend test 1344K again tonight and will take a screenshot, with this test my temp is around 60C only though. I am currently using BIOS 1401, I don’t know if it is good enough, waiting for your test result😀👌🏻

Edit: My stock vid @BIOS default is 1.056v but when i disable MCE it goes up to 1.088-1.104v

Tt Floe RGB 360, but it's not better than EVGA CLC 280 or NZXT X62. These two 280mm AIO coolers even outperform most 360mm coolers including the NZXT X71 and Corsair's H150i based on the reviews I gathered.

Out of the box, my stock VID is always 1.088v regardless of MCE being enabled or disabled. After delidding it drops down to 1.040v, which is -0.048v off.

So, your chip before delidding I guess was 1.056+0.048v = 1.104v am I right? smile.gif

I don't know because I delidded my CPU when I first got it smile.gif. So, based on your calculation, 1.104v should be the realistic stock VID before delid. A lemon as expected lol. Would be nice if you can do a review of 8086K.

1.104v is not the worst chip as I've seen a 1.184v or more somewhere else before.
My 8086K is not better than my 8700K, it's doing 1.344v at 5.0GHz @ 6 cores but still better than average 8700K at 1.35-1.4v.
I've just sold it two days ago and bought a Ryzen 2700X at RM1299 for 2nd benching rig.
Last minute changing the plan HAHA.

Wow, totally unexpected for higher binned 8086k. Thank you for the heads up. Ryzen 2700x for RM1299, that is totally a steal😂😂

After few weeks of using 8700k 5GHz on Gaming 3, the pc regularly freeze on gaming.

Is it because of temperature? Because Prime95 test was done in AC room.

After testing done, remove to non AC room.

hi, wanna ask how about corsair "H100i V2" or "Fractal Design Celsius S24". reviews and comments some say corsair full load works very loud and pump fail very common, fractal very quiet but falls behind corsair in terms of cooling but quality very good.... so confusing.
been browsing these 2 coolers 240mm, as my case not enough to fit in top 280mm.
any recommendation for 240mm AIO?

From reddit, H100i V2 vs S24: https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/...rsair_h100i_v2/

Yes you're right about the H100i V2 (old Asetek design) being easily die within months of usage, just avoid them at all cost.
Celsius S24 has a pump that only moves 80% as much coolant as any other pump.
NZXT X52 is a great cooler but too expensive and overpriced over here (RM 639).

BTW, wrong place to ask I guess. There's a proper section to discuss about cooling here: https://forum.lowyat.net/CoolingandHard-modding

Z370 Gaming 5 is a mid tier mobo that usually features lower VRM quality:

http://www.overclock.net/forum/attachment....achmentid=99753

Upgrading to top tier with higher VRM quality will shave off vCore by about 0.048v, hence lowering your core temps and allowing for higher OC headroom.

Somehow after tweaking some setting (turning off intel turbo boost etc), able to achieve 5Ghz stabkle @ 1.3V with AVX offset set to 2

Sifus, I'm planning to get a new board for my 8700K (Quite lemon chip i think).
May I know any good board that is good for OC and the only constraint is the CPU itself?

TQVM

Budget 1.5K

PS. normal size board smile.gif

ROG Maximus X Hero and ASRock Z370 Taichi are good motherboards.

May I know how bad is your chip? biggrin.gif

Until you find your stable 5.0GHz AVX 0 can't really say.
Average 8700K chip should be able to do 5GHz @ 1.35-1.40v.
More than that (>1.40v), you can consider that's a bad chip.
Decent: 1.30v-1.35v.
Golden: 1.25v-1.30v.
Platinum: <1.25v biggrin.gif

BTW, Hardwareluxx has a great database for 8700K/8086K OC:

Each mobo has different VRM configuration and sensors, hence you will likely have different OC experience when changing board.

Some software and games like Chrome and BF1 use AVX, so yes.
