QUOTE(djandrew @ Nov 2 2018, 08:41 AM) yeah only found them selling so far..this beast is nice yo..9900k..and also very hot but still liquid metal performs better than intel solder...new series solder is so thick to transfer heat over IHS TBH I don't dare to delid the 9th Gen CPU and only 5c gain in temperatures unlike 15-20c on the previous gens.by then i wonder how many hardcore pusher will take the risk to scrap out the solder and apply liquid metal just to hit world record lol some of many comments they wrote why not intel just stick back to their old fashion shitty thermal paste and let owner delid themself with liquid metal instead of now halfway hanging one way ticket with solder. Enough with bird poop paste, solder TIM is way better and no longer need to sacrifice the warranty. |

QUOTE(BotakPrince @ Nov 15 2018, 07:54 PM) Guys I’m a noob in OC- do we look at max temps or current temps from HWMONITOR when stress testing under prime 95? Look for max and average temps. Edited with photos for all cores at 5.1ghz with 0 avx and 1.335vcore highest max temp at 88 degrees.. Not delidded... is it a good cpu? Using 8086k Max temp cannot exceed TJmax of 100c otherwise your OC will be automatically throttled down to lower clock. BTW where's your screenie of the 5.1GHz OC? 5.1 @ 1.335v is almost identical to my 8700K, mine needed 1.344v for 5.1GHz QUOTE(owikh84 @ Jan 22 2018, 10:51 PM) |

QUOTE(BotakPrince @ Nov 16 2018, 09:09 AM) Not sure how the attachment went missing... here it goes again. Yes, once your CPU temps hit 100c mark means your OC has failed and got throttled. The software I used was cinebench. Ran it a few times it was ok. Around 88 max. I tried small fft using prime 95 latest software and I got 100 max.... sigh does it mean it’s throttled? Cinebench doesn't use AVX instruction so not as stressful as Prim95 v29.4 with AVX enabled. So i can guess your 8086K is not better than an average chip. To run AVX software such as Prime95, you will need: 4.9GHz @ 1.280v 5.0GHz @ 1.344v 5.1GHz @ 1.408v For Cinebench R15: 4.9GHz @ 1.216v 5.0GHz @ 1.280v 5.1GHz @ 1.344v |

QUOTE(BotakPrince @ Nov 16 2018, 03:35 PM) Oh well, does that mean I got a lemon? Lower your clock down to 5.0 or 4.9, otherwise delid the chip to shave off 15-20c.I tried playing on ultra settings for PUBG, for about 30-45 mins and it maxed out at 82. Load about low 60s. Should I lower the clock? Or the temps are fine? Please give me some advice sifu 😂 Edit: my temps are already 100 on 1.335vcore for 5.1.. if it goes 1.408v I think it’ll burn the cpu lol |

QUOTE(djandrew @ Nov 30 2018, 02:37 PM) wah not cheap lol For liquid-cooled overclocked 9900K, actually 8 true power phases are adequate enough. see many youtube this beast runs very hot... side note : i saw a mobo and veli veli like it "gigabyte z390 aorus EXTREME"..here no available yet.. very premium feel man youtube reviews very promising tho...... asus top z390 board macam pun kalah to this vrm phase https://www.gigabyte.com/Motherboard/Z390-A...TREME-rev-10#kf with now all these z390 board + 9900k seems like average cpu cooler available on the market become bottleneck of the setup rig already Maximus XI Extreme and Gene will be fine, just avoid those doubled 8 phases (4 true phases) such as Hero and Formula. With less VRM phase, these boards tend to suck more juices in order to achieve stability during overclocking. Auros' VRM is strong, but not their UEFI BIOS and accuracy of voltage reading. They are using iTE super I/O chip rather than Nuvoton silicon that is more reliable. |

elmor @ ASUS finally decided to explain regarding the doubled 8 phases issue on the M11H/C/F mobos.
QUOTE Lower temps on other competing Z390 boards with 6x2 doubled designs, that's for M11H/C/F. The M11 series has cooler VRMs at the same load compared to M10. With the same components used and the only difference being using a doubler ic or connecting the power stages in parallel, you get slightly better efficiency with doublers = lower temperatures. Transient response is worse if adding doublers, how much can be debated or better investigated. The efficiency on M11 is better than on M10 due to better components. The overall quality is better than previous gen, not worse. Source: https://www.overclock.net/forum/6-intel-mot...ml#post27754334 This post has been edited by owikh84: Dec 13 2018, 06:47 AM |

QUOTE(cstkl1 @ Jan 2 2019, 10:14 PM) ow.... mine always consistent at 5GHz, giving 11.5k with DDR4-3200 and 12.3k with DDR4-3600.Had problem hitting 2200cb in Cinebench R15 earlier, sometimes 2090-2150cb. Managed to get it back up after a fresh install of Windows 10. Regarding stability... Although RB v2.56 is stable @ 1.23v for 1 hours, Prime95 v29.5 with AVX custom blend 1344K/1344K will not stable at this vCore (almost instant freeze). I tried putting 1.275v but doesn't seem to make it stable (core temps still below 100C mark). Will try 1.285-1.3v later if my cooling (aging Supreme HF) is still able to handle the heat. Small FFT as expected, shot up to 100C as soon as I started stressing the chip. Not a golden chip it seems. TBH I'm jealous seeing others getting 5GHz easily under 1.3v. ![]() |
