I'm running my 4200+ at 245x11, 2.7ghz, 1.6V. Using just an XP120. Peak temps r about 63c on the hottest days with ambient temps of 34c. Those r my daily use settings.

wah.... will it kill the proc faster?? coz if not then i also wanna use that temp tongue.gif... currently dun care to go pass 50C full load. x2 or opty can take higher temps?

edit:
lichyetan, thumbup.gif thumbup.gif 2.6 enough for daily use lar.... biggrin.gif for me i run at stock 1.8Ghz for daily use. then when i got tasks to do and need them to finish fast, then oni i OC it. (dfi board all settings saved in bios mah).

Well, the temps r pretty good for daily use. Like right now, it's only 46c for surfing n stuff. It's only when I start gaming or ripping videos that it goes up to 63c. As long as it doesn't hit 65c shud b ok lor I suppose.

The temps shud be better with watercooling but I've stopped using watercooling coz lazy to maintain it. So I went n bought an aircond instead. Now even better, both PC n me will be cooled by cold air instead of just the PC enjoying the cooling. laugh.gif laugh.gif laugh.gif I came to that conclusion after wondering y on earth I spent a thousand bux on a watercooling kit when the aircond costs the same amount of moolah. laugh.gif With the aircond on, it's running 50C+ only.

ya water cooling is kinda problematic and mafan to maintain tongue.gif the difference between water and air cooling becomes significant when u run the proc full load at an overclocked speed. for example, now when i OC with 1.6v full load i am getting about 60+C. if water it will be around 50+ to 60.

and i also found that removing the IHS of the proc is the same. when full load OC speed it is very huge difference. in a rush now so can't post links. will provide source later. saw somewhere that removing IHS lowers 5C at idle and 22C at full load for venice... full load for opty 146 oni like 40+C. blink.gif blink.gif

another factor need to be considered is that izzit worth to pump 1.6v for long term. AMD recommend max 10% overvolting aka 1.35v+0.135v=1.485v. some fella from LYP last time OC a proc (not opty) to 3Ghz and his proc got smoked up despite good temp coz the chip kenot take the overvolting. soltek board. dunno wether his caps blew or not.

what i did was:
1. get a cheapo 400w psu to power all the fans and optical drive, 1 ide hdd.
2. main 500w psu power mobo, proc, ram, 2 sata hdd, 1 raptor.
3. bought 80-120mm fan adapter from tnghian for Rm16. and a few 120mm evercool fans for RM17 from myPC.
4. take the psu apart and take out the 80mm fan. close it back. then put it back to the casing. use silicon to glue the adapter to the psu and attach the 120mm fan. now u can feel the heat coming out tongue.gif

now pumping voltages up a bit i can do 2.8Ghz and ram around 270Mhz. no prime coz temp shooting up like rocket when i pump 1.6v sweat.gif last time it died barely touching 2.7Ghz.

change the fan to evercool at my radiator, previously was nmb 80++ cfm fan, now pc more silent but temp rises 1-2c... blush.gif blush.gif , i also wish to add 1 cheap psu but no room in my casing ady... lol
nw, hmmm... quite statisfied at 2.53ghz... almost same as 2.6ghz with less voltage... juz a littile slow compare to 2.6 according to benchmark software...
