Last time also the same when FullHD applied on phone, now for some if not many no FullHD is like....meh
Exactly, as long as CPU, GPU and battery capable, I don't might if future phone is even reaching 8K or even 16K, 32K. They is no cons on that as long the hardware capable doing it.

looking forward for Z5C..however, compared to last Z3C, the battery's capacity is increased by a notch, bigger internal storage, higher pixels, SD810, dunno if it's gonna b e a worthwhile upgrade..let's see about the review

this is true... some things, while overkill, there's no harm having provided if the performance is not affected. and also the price is not crazily high
Haha ya lo. But i wonder what difference the 4k display make. Honestly i cant even differentiate between 350ppi and 500 ppi screen. Hefty price tag because they dump in 4k display? Ermm no thanks. more power and juice under the hood? And more functions? Yes! But just personal opinion

looking forward to the Z5 Compact. still weary about them using the Snapdragon 810 though but based on the video by Btekt (he recorded a 10 minute long 4K video with no excess overheating), it might turn out okay. and hopefully better waterproofing this time. it's either this or the Note 4 Edge..
Wait the phone come first. I will be among the few people to grab and test.
Got early bird pricing or not? 😂😂 Hahaha interested in the Z5 premium. Hell my TV at home still plasma and FHD. And now talking about 4K display. I should bring eggs around just in case I'm hungry

All test are accepted except bendgate and water test.
aiya the water test is one of the main concern; read a few posts online that the Z3 Compact is prone to water damage despite being waterproof. what's the point of boasting about the IP rating when it can't even survive being submerged.

No such good thing as early bird price other than free gifts lol.

If the pressure sensor fails the test, you can't soak the phone into water.

so let's say if we're buying from a Sony store (or any other shop), we have to conduct the test there and then upon purchase? we have the right to swap for another unit right if it fails the pressure test?

First part, user can personally test by dialing *#*#7378423#*#* there's an option there. Second part, I can't guarantee that especially it varies from shops.
0.03 second fast focus not sure how "clear" the image ^^. interesting .
Aside of 0.03 second, the 0.25 second found on Xperia M5 is very impressive, when you finger leave the spot you want to focus, the camera has already locked on focus.

finally it's time for me to upgrade the Z1C. Must wait for the real unit to test out then only can decide.
Same ship as you, but i'm not sure if i'm gonna stay compact or go Z5 because the ram remain at 2GB is quite bad. And no USB type C is a little bit letdown, at least no flap needed anymore. View to impress.

Andrewtst Why there's this low life just like to troll around? Did you got any PM that this familiar fool sent yaoi photos?
Here also got? OMG! His sickening is upgrade to any brand now! I didn't receive any message, but I do seen he post at Note5 thread, I believe already get remove that account.

nope. OIS is a good plus (quite a must) in photography.
You're aiming the Z5 Compact as well? For the RAM they're offering, i can't really say much cause i have a high tendency of clearing the RAM with Android devices, even if i just open 1 app. But having a little bit more RAM would be better though

I guess,
Sony should do 4GB for Premium, 3GB for Z5 and 3GB for Z5C.
but they need to differentiate between Z5 and Z5 C

720p display and thicker body should be enough what haha. I don't mind though cause i'm planning to make this my backup/holiday phone. Who knows it might be my primary phone later on. But i'm really worried about the waterproofing. The previous gen seems to be prone to water damage despite being waterproof (users had their phones completely sealed yet water entered) so i'm extra weary. And also the Snapdragon 810 haha but so far it looks good so i'm waiting for a more extensive test on it
How about let's wait for review? If they can tweak the chipset correctly, I don't see a problem with the choice of chipset.
I think your only concern is just overheating and power consumption.
S810 is snappy enough as long the phone is optimized for it. I don't see it as a problem for Z5 Compact or Z5 because Sony UI is one of the smoothest around plus these 2 devices only have HD and Full HD screen respectively.
for Z5 Premium, the 4k impact on the S810 definitely can be seen in benchmark apps.. but as always, synthetic benchmark doesnt always represent true performance in daily usage.
Only slight especially when under charging. In operation is slightly warmer than most Androids but can never match the warmness of S6E. Nothing serious to worry about

So the Snapdragon 810 v2.1 revision really did make a difference.. The Z5 family is using the new revision right? Yeah i've held a S6 Edge after recording a video. It got quite hot and had to let it cool down after a while
There is one review about z5 on the optical zoom where it is zoom in a lot but still turns out really sharp in the picture. I'm not too confident about that but if it is true it is awesome. And yes! The fast auto focus is awesome. This has plague Sony since the XPS...
looking at this hands on video i noticed the camera shooting is quite slow (not to confused with the captured speed) if tap the shutter button rapidly i think it will lag/slow between each shot. the focus is indeed super fast tho.

1. The worst and completely out - Z3 2. Second worst and washed out color - iPhone 6 Plus 3. G4 sometimes have lighting over exposed issue. 4. Z5 and S6 is really comparable in between, Z5 seems sometimes ahead S6 in overall view but when zoom S6 still better. I give both the best in market now!
Z5 premium euro 799 ( rm3800) n assuming less the 20% VAT will be euro 649 ( rm3000) With falling ringgit uncontrolled I wonder what type of pricing we will see here!!

S6 construction is unique. The battery itself is glued to the screen (partly) and the frame that hold the screen (partly). That itself would increase the heat transfer.

Really ahead looking for Z5 Premium now!
i still loved how Sony managed to get the colour productions as good as a normal human eye. S6 is slightly saturated, iphone 6 colours are the worst IMO.

Tell me why you need a 4K screen on a 5.5" What is a logic or common sense behind this marketing gimmick when even gaming laptops opt for 1080p screens.
I slowly believing Sony always go for marketing gimmick to lure customers.
Firstly the waterproofing tech. However, when you search for reviews, there are tons of Sony phones being damaged when taking photos on a pool. Dont advertise as waterproof la if your phones cant get under the water.

Dude, then I ask you, why compare a laptop with a mobile phone? Secondly, why 2 of my Z Ultra and Z2 are waterproof? I had brought both underwater and both came out undamaged. Thirdly, all manufacturers have their own gimmicks, not only Sony. Gimmicks are part of a product that helps the sales.
EDIT : and forth, that's why there is a standard Z5 if you don't need the 4K screen! You don't need only Z5 Premium as the only reference!
That's why people kept saying, wait for review, don't make blind assumptions if it's a bad thing or not.

Agree with you iPhone color is something not right there.

They is a lot 1080P laptop, true but it never for me even time of no 2K/4K display. Everything look pixelate.
4K in 5.5" possible is a gimmick but no harm if it perform well. Higher resolution always is welcome. Also you seen a real 4K video in it native resolution, this part is surely different than watching under 1080P or 2K display.
As long as hardware capable, I believe future 2K display shall be gone in any display but only remain 720p, 1080P and 4K simply because video came in 720P, 1080P and 4K, they is no real 2K video source as standard.

Z3 washed out under lowlight, especially first photo. The rest seems okay.
Anyway, PA review about Z5 is different than other journalist. They kept getting overheat message but according to Btekt, there's no overheat issue. Even for the video version, the reporter reported lazily.

Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge + and Note5 both local set is dual SIM.
LG G4 Hong Kong and Philippine set is dual SIM also.
Was referring to a 5" phone so am really looking at the normal Z5 as opposed to the premium one. Should've been clearer in my query. Sorry fellas. Small hands and pockets you see.
Also, not really interested in AP sets. I'm too old to worry about all that.
Looks like I'll resist buying the S6 until I read real world reviews of the Z5. May be switching to Sony after all these years of being enslaved to Samsung.

If hands on S6 and Z3+, both roughly the same. Both have good build qualities. I expect it will be better on Z5 because smoothen metal frame looks nice but on hand feels cheap.

Quite like the feel of the Z series phones but was a bit too similar in features to Samsung so couldn't justify switching previously (having the 'back' button on the left side was too much for my brain to handle).
But now, with features such as dial sim and removable SD card it seems as though Sony knows the way to my heart. Provided there's nothing seriously wrong with the phone of course.
if only they put some kick onto the z5 design. Those bezels should be shrinked and perhaps with more curvy corner edges. I was a big fan of sony phones until i got kinda bored of the boxy design and those flaps..

I have totally different though . Having arrow point to left but the actual button at right is killing me . I mean isnt that 80% plus human is right handed ? A month on s6 and still keep press the recent button . Why cant samsung just follow the stock one ?

They wanna make something special than the stock one.
However, it is a big welcome if you can swap both keys for different position. Virtual keys like LG, HTC and Sony actually is more simple to customize by software.

Yeah, Sony should combine all the awesome stuff to the next level, PS game on 4k xperia with some awesome vr control, Current vr is still so limited, nice idea but need to mature
And not to forget to watch 4k movies on a phone, got cinematic effect!

If it's true that the Z5 Compact Premium would be available globally, i really hope they have the same dual heatpipe setting in the Z5 and Z5 Premium. It would be a really awesome phone with that form factor and specs
Well, let's hope it's not. If yes, then audiophiles will definitely love it. If me, I will take chrome also. Don't like gold, as it doesn't suit my youth age. Black too common at the other side.
Now my main target is chrome. It looks so nice.
I find gold can't last view, after sometimes I find it actually not so nice.
I think i read somewhere stated its use dedicated chip for sound.need to dig again haha
Yeah I read it somewhere too so i'm thinking it is somewhere at Xperia Blog. It was around the same time it was announced three new phones with SD810 and the 4K screen. But now with the 4k a reality, I hope the dedicated chip sound is true too!
Looks like Sony is finally realizing that it is better for them to sell more phones than to worry about cannibalizing their other divisions. If they are finally willing to combine all their expertise into the perfect phone then it will bodes very well for Sony instead.
This is the real market differentiation we are talking about. If it does, it sure takes them a long time to do it. Anyway, the rest of their divisions other than PS, DSLR and mobile camera sensor are a sinking ship anyway.

Yalo ho. Forgot that. Me too. Top line. Black is definitely out for me as well.
Btekt, AA and other reviewers also have. Hope it's pre production issue.
soitsuagain they actually can do it. Sometimes, manufacturers tend to trash themselves. This time Sony got slapped in the face and woke up, so producing something that really catch people's attention.
Previously many users ask why need 1080 display ...720 good enough. Now 2k display is common sight too
Main concern how is battery usage on 4k display. I don't mind having 4k display on my phone as long as increase in battery usage is marginal. Already read some working even on 8k display in the coming future!!!
I guess in Msia be prepared for at least in the range of 2.5-3.0k....n assuming the ringgit doesn't depreciate more n more in coming months!! Take away 20% from Euro prices n that is quite a good guide to local pricing here
hahah 8k display.. objects in the screen can come out d.. i am looking forward to molest z5 once its available in sony stores.Curious to see how much improvement theyve gone to. My last sony phone was z2 and imo it was the best of all in the z series so far in terms of stablity, durability and notification light placement.Z3 was meh that is when i started to look elsewhere.

i like the color choice of Z5 but not Z5c. >< But I prefer compact size phone, 5.2" still feel not easy to hold and use with one hand and fit into pocket. Sony UI is light and smooth, so 2GB is sufficient for the Z5c but of course if 3GB better! I wish they have the Japanese high spec Miku version here for the Z5c. Like the light bluegreen color. Hopefully the price in Asia is much lower. The higher price tag will mainly due to our currency weaker.

Hmm... inline with flagship pricing if your assumption correct.
Dang...have to hold purchase Z4 tablet again if this true
I am using Z3 Tablet compact, it is still the best overall tablet at this moment for its size, weight, spec and price. I have shocked everyone when they try to hold my Z3TC! A Flagship spec tablet with lightest weight and thin body not other tablet can challenge!! and it still have water proof IP68! For the screen quality, only the Tab S can compare.
Z4 tablet is nice but a bit bulky for me and it is expensive. For serious mobile computing, I will opt for windows tablet like Surface Pro. I am looking for Surface Pro4!
I hope it is not RM 3,099. Please lower it down a bit. I don't want to spend another RM 3k again and drop like shit in 3 months. I means S6 Edge.
I have done some study compare Sony Malaysia to Sony UK price: Z3+Dual = GBP499 == RM2599 the ratio is about 5.21 without 20% VAT = GBP415.83 Take the previous launching time end July the rate is about 1GBP=RM5.922 GBP415.83=RM2462.87 +6%GST = RM2610.64 Which is quite close to RM2599 SRP.
So using the same calculation: GBP/1.2*GBPtoMYR*1.06
Damn the currency!!! Stupid govt still busy on creating racial issue and covering the scandals, but do nothing on recovering the economy and international confidence
but with this price might scared people of, so hopefully Sony Malaysia will tune down the price as comparable to other flagship makers.

Andrew, we are going to take same boat when Z5 Premium out. ..ha.ha After that we upgrade to
Sony Xperia Z5 Ultra: 6.4″ 4K, 4GB RAM and Snapdragon 820 available March 2016
I believe you could take this size as we both own Xperia Z Ultra before....
So Sony at last will bring the Z Ultra series with Z5 Ultra. Waiting so long, I thought they will bring out Z Ultra 2 3 years ago. Will definitely buy!
Actually how does the Dual Sim work? Means 2 sim cards are active at the same time? Also is it possible to use the data plan of either sim card when surfing? Possible to have 2 whatsapp account active at the same time?

You need to choose which sim you want to use as Data and Call for default. Only 1 official WhatsApp for 1 phone. You need to find 3rd party app that support WhatsApp messaging.

So that means that if want to use the other sim card for data, would need to make that sim card as default? So need to keep switching the default sim if want to use up both data correct?

Yes need to set first. If 1st sim no data then you need to set manually to 2nd sim.
I believe Sony will make the adjustment, else just wait a while then get it.

Andrew, we are going to take same boat when Z5 Premium out. ..ha.ha After that we upgrade to
Sony Xperia Z5 Ultra: 6.4″ 4K, 4GB RAM and Snapdragon 820 available March 2016

Got news on Z Ultra next successor? I wait until neck long also didn't seen.
interesting, future proofing for VR tech, while living in the present without compromising battery/processor too much by rendering in 1080p nice move by sony
I just read an article, Sony is make the Z5 Premium running the device at 1080P under 4K display.
If final product is like this, then it is somehow may not worth the money spend as it still a 1080P phone scale up at 4K display.
you would have to choose which is more important; constant 4K resolution display or battery. i highly doubt 4K resolution can greatly enhance one's mobile experience. it just sounds great when you're bragging it to your friends haha. oh can you guys clarify whether an app would scale according to a phone's default resolution or just simply stretch to fit? for example if an app is scaling itself to match the resolution, would it be as sharp as the resolution or will it end up being stretched and grainy? like a photo being zoomed in?

Andrew, I waited neck long long as well. Since Z Ultra, I can never find a good replacement with such sizes. Hopefully 2016 ...

The problem is for now, even video playback also show FHD when screen capture.
They need to at least make the video and photo in native of 4K. Also it is better as least make the Android run in 2K as default not like current FHD.
Now definately need wait review on final product see how.
1. 6.4" or bigger screen.. 6.8" will be super awesome! 4k display 2. snap 820 proc 3. 4gb ram 4. at least 64gb storage, or expandable 5. 16mp or above rear camera- ultrapixel! 8mp front 6. loud stereo speaker 7. waterproof, dust proof 8. fingerprint sensor 9. dual sim
if all these boxes ticked, i will buy even if the price is hefty.. just take ma maneh
1. should be no problem, unless they go with normal ultra series, and not premium series and only 1080 display 2. should be as well 3. 3-4GB ? same same 4. not gonna happen, it would be lucky if there is 32GB version 5. maybe, front i think will still 5mpx 6. not gonna happen with water proofing the phone 7. should be the norm 8. of course 9. maybe there is a dual version, first main will not be Dual

1. not a problem. 2. shouldn't be a problem. 3. hope it is. 4. might not possible, but expandable, it's possible. 5. let's hope for it. 6. best plus if they can make it louder, just like Z4 Tablet's speaker 7. quite a norm. 8. should be a norm. 9. please, dont make Cat 4 band for dual SIM. Z5 Dual and Z5P Dual stuck at Cat 4 currently.
I think other wise. They are rushing out Z5 Premium worldwide this November, and I strongly think that by increasing display size to 6.4 and 820 Processor with other specs like Premium version should be out sooner than March 2016. The same series would not take too many months to release or else impact will not be there.Only worry is the supply of display panel and 820 will then cause the delay.

Interesting thought. Thank you for sharing your view. Yes tablet for me meant for working in mobile mode. Running around in airport, try to catch my flight with laptop in my bag pack is quite bothersome. might consider surface pro 4 too!
Back to Z5 premium, i think it is more sensible/efficient for Z5P to view in 4K while 4K input in usage. Just a thought.

edit: Or maybe they misinterpreted Steadyshot tech as OIS... =.=
The mechanism in Z5's stabilization doesn't sound like it's OIS. Steadyshot at the other hand is strictly for videos only. Steadyshot have to minimize the FOV to get stabilized videos.
Ya. If let's say in future android M update has 4K support, worry it will take a toll on the chipset. The mechanism in Z5's stabilization doesn't sound like it's OIS. Steadyshot at the other hand is strictly for videos only. Steadyshot have to minimize the FOV to get stabilized videos.
minimizes the FOV? I thought Steadyshot tech uses motion sensors, in Xperia's case the gyroscope to compensate movements?

If I am using SIM 2 data plan, is it possible for SIM 1 to receive calls while I am surfing internet and vice versa? Been reading online and got abit confused on this Thanks!

How much of a battery drain would it be for having 2 sims?
I'm currently using Note 5 and Mi Note Pro (both of them are dual-sim & 3000 mAh battery). From what I see here, Note 5 dropping more than Note Pro. It's all depend on phone itself like battery management, software optimization, idle background apps, etc.
Incase you are wondering, I don't run any battery saver.
I used Z3 dual before, Sony battery management quite good. Let's hope so their Z5 Premium dual will do better coz of their 4K-app optimize and 801 ppi pixel density.

I'm wondering that, if you're using the dual sim variant. If you put only one SIM in, would the second sim still show up as no sim or will the second sim icon disappear?
That's pretty much my only gripe on dual sim phones. Especially the Moto G. Persistent second SIM icon that is telling you that there isn't any SIM in there. The OnePlus 2 got this right tho.
Just waiting to come back to Malaysia to pick up my Z3+

Samsung can disable one of the sim and only use one of it. No sign of no sim.
looking at pricing for Z5 on clove.co.uk, with fedex shipping, total is GBP458.50, which is around RM3050. much cheaper than any other UK based store, including sony store

If held by custom prepare to pay another rm100 for Sirim permit n further 6% GST on invoice value+courier charges
But what about Sony? Not all manufacturers does it the same way.
I think it's just a simple task. So far, all dual sim phone that I've used(Samsung grand 2, oppo mirror 3, moto G) can disable either one of the sim at any time.
I thought GST is only for purchases bought within Malaysia? If bought from overseas also need to pay GST?
Yes. I paid that for my Lenovo K3 sent to me for review . But this n the rm100 sirim fees were promptly refunded to me by the shipper. My set came in from HK. GST is 6% of phone invoice value plus courier charges The GST I paid directly to courier while Sirim fees to Sirim.

Wise statement from Sony It is a fact there are reported cases of users their Xperia phones did not survive underwater and such users claimed the seals were all properly closed. There are too some users who calmed their phones survive very well even in sea water. As I see it, it is not a 100% full proof feature. I only tested my previous XZ and XZU submerged in water briefly about 10+ secs or so and phone was alright. Just test out of curiosity. I'd never purposely allow my phones to be in contact with water for long periods of time . You could call me paranoid on this !

I agree with Sony part. Cause glue don't last forever even without the heat factor as glue degrades over time. Now when is Sony going to use a locking mechanism that snaps with a strong click, some screws and rubber seals all around it. That will be combat ready hahaha.

if they can work with their Action Cam department on watertight phones, i think you can called it waterproof. my 2cents.
Kinda disappointed that their phones aren't always waterproof; that's the main selling point for their flagship and what differentiates them from the rest. Was really leaning towards the Z5 Compact but if it's not waterproof, what's the point. Can't they nanocoat the innards or something? Something like Liquipel (don't know how to spell it)?

There is an incomplete explanation by Liquipbel : oxidation of semiconductors. Liquipbel still can't answer my query about what happened if my device is treated with Liquipbel but still water damaged, and will the chips oxidize?

Erm you mean that the new Z series are not considered waterproof anymore?
Erm you mean that the new Z series are not considered waterproof anymore?
Yeah; use at your own risk. Even they themselves can't guarantee that their phones are waterproof. Those who jump in the pool with the flaps open is a different story lah but those who sealed off everything accordingly but still can experience water damage.. That's the disappointing part. Based on this forum and others the Z3 Compact seems to be the most affected. Not sure about the Z3.
Regardless if someone should take a photo underwater or not, the feature is there to be utilized without worry. If they say it's waterproof, then let it be waterproof lah and fix the phone if it's compromised. It may cost them but they should have thoroughly tested it before selling it to avoid it from being damaged. Now they're using the use-at-your-own-risk defense despite touting the IP68 rating.
I understand if it's a lemon unit, it happens. Not all Z-series phone are affected. But now it sounds like they don't want to take any responsibility. Haih so sad
I'm tempting to change from S6 to Z5 if the camera is as good as Sony claims (Although I don't put much hope to that). Let's see the reviews and how the camera perform against S6.
And to those who doubt Sony's waterproof capabilities - I'm an owner from Z1 who recently changed to S6 due to poor camera. The camera and the waterproofing capability works - so no worries on that for me. I trust Sony on this.
I did bring my phone submerged in Sea Water for more than 30 minutes (I did it 1 hour+) before and it still work fine for me till today.
Hmm.. abit of a turnoff for me if they themselves are not going to back their waterproofing claims. Though totally understandable why they are doing it, as most probably they are making losses from warranty claims due to water damage

I would say based on my readings of the various Sony thread, 9/10 who sent in phones to claim water warranty are rejected as the user are just unable to proof it is phone fault. Once the white paper inside the slots are tainted it clearly shows flaps were loosen that cause water to be in - is this a flap design issue or user didn't closed it properly In fact I read Sony does NOT honor warranty for waterproofing UNLESS you can proof it is phone defect Sony is basically making their stand on this clearly now

Z5 camera promised to be very good compared to other flagships, or to say comparable. the samples show a lot of improvements.
however, i can only trust Sony 1/2 on waterproofing capability because you won't know if you device is perfect or not. i also did submerged my Z Ultra into pool for about 5 minutes and it came out alive.
S810 on a 4K screen? Better use it to fry eggs and barbecue.
That's what the dual heatpipes are there for. Hahaha and it runs surprisingly cool aamof even with that behemoth of a 4K display on the 810. It's only slightly warm when shooting on 4K mode. Kind of wished they had 4K DCI like the OnePlus One had. Looks absolutely amazing when you shoot in 4K DCI.
the battle of autofocus. Z5 is one of the fastest, both daylight and lowlight. Note 5 autofocus is medium at lowlight, and sometimes unable to focus but if done manually, it's fast.

Looks z5 premium more advantage for display i think
due to weak RM, we can't avoid the price more expensive than Z3 range. So hopefully Sony Malaysia can control the price down. eg. Z5c - RM1999-2099 Z5 - RM2399-2499 Z5P - RM2899-2999

Looks like mdr-nc750 better than before..possible bundle togather?or add on..
ideal price for current Z1 compact user. Z5C - RM1799 (not metal frame and 720p, should be lower price) Z5 - RM 2299 (a good gap compared to Z5C) Z5P - RM2899 (slightly below 3k, gives the purchase more justifiable.)
Only Z5 Premium has a blink back. The normal Z5 is frosted back, which is matte. Actually Z3+ also adapts the new SD810 v2.1 but I had seen the construction in Z3+ which uses only single heatpipe, compared to the dual in Z5.

The highlights of the show, the Xperia Z3 and Z3 Compact will see their launch on the 4th of October, at S$998 and S$798 respectively. Pre-orders will be starting next week, and the early-birds who reserve it then will receive a wireless charging dock for free. other country no rise price......... malaysia also...samsung s6 also same case.

Z5p is dual sim?is it if dual, can sim A have whatsapp, so can use data sim B?
Z5P has dual SIM option, but Sony MY only bring dual SIM. With the original whatsapp, it won't work. I remembered someone mentioning a modified whatsapp can benefit two Sims at once.

Because according to the samples taken at IFA, the samples turn out to be amazing, and comes close to G4 and S6 level. So, my thoughts are quite a biased review.

Hey bro, cool down. Not all reviewers are expert in their field more so on one obscure tech sites. Just because they got invited doesn't mean they are the authority. You just need to apply to be part of it.
But I do believe his review is limited by his own expertise which he is not willing to admit. Besides, he is seriously trying too hard to bring in some cons. I mean come on volume rocker too low? Probably if you're a left hander but what if you're a right hander? The cons becomes idiotic at best.

The Z5 did make me feel wanna go back to Sony, but after reading the review... Seems like Sony never learnt. Perhaps the actual unit once reach in Bolehland may perform better but knowing Sony, their current Z series still considered above average and big size compared to other competitors newer phone, after several firmware and Android version update, the camera still hopeless. But anyway im still interested in Z5 with outstanding battery life (historically) and new frosted back panel.
So many restriction to 8MP.Stupid! From that review if no proper manual mode. I am out. Sony already kill it own flagship from Z to Z1, Z2, Z3 and if it happen again in Z5, no surprise.
iinm sony phones if u unlock bootloader u lose certain camera features right? So even if they dont restrict it by default, its still gonna get somewhat worst if u like custom stuffs.
hmm i guess i will continue waiting for LG's phablet, thought of getting z5 ultra ( if it exists) bu i guess not

But still z5 manual mode is bit of upset (maybe).
Im looking forward to se more review bout z5
Ya...need to wait review from other website only can compare properly. Now what we know is preliminary review
Well, I'm all geared up for the chrome Z5P. Can't wait, time to say goodbye to my purple Z2 (had to replace the screen 4 months into the warranty) but it's worked great since then.
I hope that everything is figured out by the time the phone launches here. Price is a little high, but 3k is doable. Anything more, might have to think about it!
At least this is a very reputable and professional site, some good news for Sony Xperia
While DxOmark is very reputable for their sensors and lenses tests (for DSLR), I do not think the same can be said for the Mobile section as they do not publish the methodology they use to test. Every test also different from each phones as they took it at different time and subjects. How do they quantify them? They did not even put the EXIF data when they did the low light test.
I give you one example: I used to have a 808PV, Lumia 1020 and just recently acquired a Z3. According to the scores, 808PV has 88 for noise section, 1020 has 91 while Z3 has 84. From my experience, Z3 is not even close to those two Nokias. And guess what, same ISO to ISO, 808PV is miles ahead of 1020 (don't even say Z3). But the scores do not reflect them. They might say "1020 has higher score because of OIS and you can use lower ISO and slower shutter speed to compensate etc". But I can't find the EXIF data in their tests. It's really doubtful how they quantify them.
Anyways, based on my uneducated barbarian eyes, Superior Auto set to 8mp is actually really quite decent. At 23mp, picture is full of noise and even blurry.

Not sure if I want to get the Z5 Premium or wait for the ones with the 820 inside. Hear there's a lot of differences compared to 810! Only need to wait a few months for the next one.

You can always choose to wait actually. Especially if you aren't urgent to get a phone.
Lol I don't know. But somehow, that site is like iPhone vs Samsung lol. If competitors join the game, that brand will got attack like nobody's business.

That site is rubbish, their review on others phone is crap especially China brand phone. It seems obvious you paid them then you get great review.
judged from TW official SRP, the price in MY for Z5 should be around RM2799. Z5c should be around RM2299. Price definitely will be high compare to Z3/+ due to weak RM. Not due to Sony jack up the price.
Haha ya lo. But i wonder what difference the 4k display make. Honestly i cant even differentiate between 350ppi and 500 ppi screen. Hefty price tag because they dump in 4k display? Ermm no thanks. more power and juice under the hood? And more functions? Yes! But just personal opinion
I personally feel that ‘mortals’ can't differentiate 2k and 4k on a 5.2 inches screen :/ It's just a 5.2 inches! I really doubt that.
