I saw the petshops at Pudu selling them at RM4 each, very nice markings. But i've never owned rats before, i have 1 GP (3 yrs old) and 2 RES (1 yr old). Not sure if my parents will be happy with rats tongue.gif

Added on July 5, 2010, 11:47 amJust wondering if they bite?

It's at Jalan Pasar. Towards the end of the stretch, 2 petshops facing each other at the junction, one sells fishes, cats, dogs, hamsters, rats, guinea pigs, water dragon, sugar gliders, squirrels and RES. Another one only fish and RES... Condition of the animals there, not that uhm, good.

Oh Xavi, you have rats too! I plan to get 1, but seems like they prefer to live in a pair? Might get a pair in the future though... Hehe. My GPs doesn't bite, they just nibble and no bleeding whatsoever. Like know they aren't supposed to bite, just 'testing'. Rats will be like that too? Hamsters do nip! ouch.

Added on July 5, 2010, 4:33 pmActually my father gave the green light to buy the rats, but I'm living with my bf, and we already have a pair of RES living with us. He's not much of an animal person... sad.gif

QUOTE(KTYJ @ Jul 9 2012, 06:05 PM)
this thread does not seem very active at the moment sad.gif , but I thought I would say Hi anyway smile.gif. I am a fancy rat owner and breeder from Australia and am interested in learning about how people in other parts of the world view rats as pets and what types (colours and coats etc) you have in your country? Hope some of you who love these adorable pets see this and want to share your knowledge smile.gif

Which part of Australia? We're planning to get a pet rat this weekend or next, but most of the pet stores in melbourne doesn't have them in the color that i want (greyish or cream hooded, preferably female). I'm not sure if getting just one is alright? I've owned hamsters and guinea pigs before but usually in pairs, not for breeding usually same sex. My lone GP (the partner died 3 years ago) is still alive, going to be 5 this year smile.gif But her cage is in the living room, so she's got company and worried she might not get along if I get another GP.

Anyhow, how many rats do you have, pictures? smile.gif
