Which version of McAfee Virus Scan are you using?
If you running Virus Scan version 10 below, please make sure you are using Internet Explorer version 6.
If you are running on Internet Explorer version 6, please try to update the internet explorer script engine.

This is not about Online Scanning. Please, can you guys or gals Posters of LYN read before posting??!!

Mcafee Security Center only reveals blank boxes? Only these few reasons:-

1. One of the supporting application/extensions (as in exe,dll or ocx) is missing.
2. You have a viral attack. Please consult Kaspersky Online Scanner. It is quite effective.
3. Certain files are corrupted. Reinstall the AV. (I would only suggest this as last resort. Reinstalling AV with a viral infection can render your whole PC useless.

Cheers!

I don't think it is corrupted installation, because he said something like Mcafee acting "dumb" on one fine day ...

I fell that his files are corrupted somehow...

OKok, You might need to do again unisntall and reinstall, but this time, use this:

McAfee Removal Tool
(This will remove the McAfee Registry as well)

Download and run it to complete clean out McAfee from your computer, then, go to

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data

Delete whatever McAfee related files/folders there, restart your computer and reinstall again, it should be fine this time.

p/s: Please take heed my friend, I worked for McAfee before and seriously it's the worst antivirus software I ever seen, it rbings nothing but troubles to your computer (espeacially 2007 version), while it still welcome many viruses/ trojans into your computer, personally I recommend Avast.

Yes , it is not about online scanning , but what's Veron83 said is correct.

The McAfee program page that you are looking at is build base on Internet Explorer's Script Engine. Therefore an incorrect Version or If you are not using IE as default web browser might will results in the blank page problem as well.

To resolve it , Veron83 had provided the correct solution , you just need to have detail instrucitons to do it.

Instruciton to resolve blank page of McAfee programs

The above emails describe a different scenario but the solutions would help.

If you are using Internet Explorer 7 , It had been identified as not compatible to run together with McAfee Virus Scan 10 , unless you get the 2007 version.

Cheers~ hope this Help.

May I know how you get this information from??? blink.gif

1. If you said one of the supporting application/extensions is missing which mean that when user start up the computer McAfee will push up an error message, does the user receive any error message???(I don't think McAfee is the only program will push up an error message when there is an missing file on the program) sweat.gif

2. Virus attack???If the computer have a serious virus attack, it will not make the security system to become a blank page...worst to worst the McAfee will not able to run on the computer which mean that the McAfee will not be able to startup when you turn on the computer as well as running the update. sweat.gif

3. Reinstalling the McAfee. I think you are the one who do not read the post properly, the user already uninstall and reinstall the McAfee but still the same, why you still strongly recommend user to do the thing that he have done but with no result. doh.gif

Note : Please bear in mind that if one of the program on the computer is not working doesn't mean that the program itself have the problem, it could be causing by another program on the computer which we don't know and we have to find out.

Thank you tobezai, your info is much more detail than I but still is the same meaning which would like to pass to the user. thumbup.gif thumbup.gif thumbup.gif

How sure are you for the bolded text?

*No offense - But it seems that from your critiques you deem that you know everything & not to forget pro-McAfee.

I'm using McAfee now...

If there is a missing file or corrupted file, McAfee will push up an message and inform you.
One example:
The most common message you will get from McAfee is some of the active shield component is either missing or not install properly, this message will push up if there is a problem on the active shield on the virus scan and this is inform when window is starting up.

If the security center show blank page this is definately not missing file or corrupted file...this I'm very sure...just want to remind you...if you read the first post properly from the user...he have uninstall and reinstall the McAfee...this should fix the missing file or corrupted file but it didn't...

As for the second sentence that you have bold, can you please tell me which virus can make the security center to become blank page...there is millions and millions virus outside right now...there is a chance which I have no idea which virus can cause this...please advice...

Lol, if that's the case, you mean by reinstalling it should fix every missing file or corrupted file? I don't find it to happen everytime.

I tried uninstall and reinstall AV's [Norton, AntiVir], they still give me errors on which dll is corrupted or missing.

Yes I agree with you on the first point, but that might not be necessary in every case.

As for the "virus can make the security center to become blank page", there is no specific virus that can do so, but, for virus such as brontok that can disable/rename/delete/hide/prevent access to certain AV's dll, or important .dlls[msvbm60.dll etc] modules that should be the case.

From what have you all mention, you all have a strong feeling that this is causing by missing file in the security program or virus attack...if this is what you all suspect, please kindly advice the user which file is missing as well as running an online scan to make sure there is no virus, trojan and spyware on the computer...

No point to argue anymore...in the end solution is the main thing...user still waiting for the solution...

OKOK. Cool down guys. No doubt, my first statement could have caused this whole "unstable" situation on this topic.

I withdraw my first few statements. But I would like to tell you something (@Veron83), there are viruses/malware that attempts to fiddle around with the AV. Some might disable it, or remove certain essential files etc. As long as the AV is almost unusable, there might be a chance that a virus is playing pranks.

Anyway, @TS, you ought to try most of the suggestions here and give back some feedback.

Cheers!
