kyser39099... though im not an expert.. but i think based on wat u said in pg 13 regarding ya guppies die out of sudden..
i think 1 of the reason is u mentioned u just set up the new tank yesterday and u put in fish the next day.. from my experience.. i used to put in fish 1 day after setting up the tank.. next thing i know.. whole tank of fishes gone...i read some books they say, is better left ur new tank/tank which left empty without having any fish...run the water for arnd 5-7 days before putting in fish..
or the other reason could be, is it bcoz u disturb them very often? or maybe there's no shade for them? which cos them to be really stress..coz when a new fish comes into a new environment.. usually they need some cool off time, so u need to provide cover for them..
Added on June 22, 2007, 12:06 amohh. and 1 more thing.. can male guppies live with each other peacefully? coz my dad just got a whole bunch, i think got bout 20-30 male guppies *not the normal type, i think is those nicer ones* and only got 6 females!!! im planning to separate them tomolo. is gonna take me quite some time to divide them...

QUOTE(cskeong @ Jun 22 2007, 01:17 PM) » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « new tanks needs to go through a process which we call cycling and it takes sometime. google for nitrogen cycle for more information. after the cycling has been completed add fish a few at a time. never ever add a whole bunch at one go. male guppies can live with each other no problem however there will be instances of bullying and chasing.judging by the ratio of male to female i think the females are going to get harrassed to death. info that i got from the net suggest that the best male to femal ratio is 1 male to 3 female. hahaha. agree. but my dad just went to buy a bunch of males.. *trying to gay them?* lolx.. anyway, i will be off to get some females.. to settle down those horny guys... Added on June 22, 2007, 1:46 pmoh, and regarding water plants *im new to this*, am i able to plant some java moss in my garden pot, where i locate some guppies in, quite shallow arnd half a ft. deep.. i heard java moss dont need fertilizer rite? need co2? and finally.. wats the price of it? im staying in Klang Valley.. thx a bunch sifus sifus and if i plant it in my 4ft tank.. wats the requirement? can DIY Co2 support such a big tank? as in i make more than 1? lolx.. wat kind of lighting i need? roughly how much is it for the lights? QUOTE(cskeong @ Jun 23 2007, 02:04 PM) diy co2 or co2 tank needs reactor or diffusor. reactor & diffusor helps increase contact surface of co2 gas and contact time with water to ensure as much co2 is dissolved into the water as possible. reactor forces water to flow into the direction of co2 gas while diffusor breaks co2 bubbles into very very tiny bubbles this increasing the contact surface of co2 gas with the water. for 4 feet tank i suggest u get co2 tank. save u alot of money and hassle in the long run. i see. but tank for now very exp.. and im planning to play play 1st.. not very serious into it yet, coz another 6 months, i will be off to Aus.. no one will help me take care liao.. but im so into this DIY thingy.. hahaha. like trying this project out! kakaka. maybe i will try make 2 DIY co2 generator? lolx!! can someone post a detail pics of their DIY reactor and Generator? kekeke.. anyway, blowing co2 in to ya tank wif a straw is no budget man, as later u will get so exhausted, hurting yaself.. masuk hospital tat time lagi costly o..

QUOTE(VforCe @ Aug 15 2007, 06:47 PM) bad news.. 6 out of 10 of my guppies died... good news...now got 5 babies inside.. dunno exactly how many get birth.. so now i hv 4 elders & 5 babies.. shuld i transfer the elders to diffrnt tank?? transfering them will not be necessary if u have alot of hiding place for the fries.. otherwise, transferring the adults will ensure higher survival rate for the fries.. just make sure u will transfer them into a nice environment, otherwise ya adults will get stressed and ultimately die.
