Hey guys! I just bought my guppies yesterday! Two males and two females. I have few questions.
1) Will the males fight for the females and injure each other?
2) Do guppies prefer strong current in water or slow one? Because I slow down my filter to minimum speed but at the fish shop I see they use very strong and fast current and the guppies look like they are struggling to fight the current.
Here is the picture of my tank~

1) possible. but usually not serious
2) slow one better. guppies can also do well in stagnant green water as long as not overcrowded.
nice pics. but u lose pure line breed if u mix different lines together. but i guess its ok since u're just keeping them as pets...

I learned the hard way i.e. all fish died within 1st 3-5 days of new water...
High ammonium & nitrate caused the death... means the biological cycle not complete yet/ established. Naturally, it takes days to weeks or you could expedite it using Sera brand bacteria - cost you RM22 for 100 ml. It works for me. Be careful, the ammonium and nitrate increase faster in smaller tank
I still learning on CO2 setup, in the mean time I use AZOO Carbon Plus which costly in the long run

(I plan to use CO2 by end of the year)
LFS (adjacent to a electrical shop) got good grade soil, ADA soil and japanese soil cost around RM12 - RM20 ++ per kg.
2 ft above I use tube to suck out 1/3 of the water from base.
Small tank just scoop out 1/2 of the water, then I use "TensionGon" to neutralise the new water (should apply before adding new water)
wah... so high tech to keep guppies?
alternatively they will do well with a few floating plants and don't overcrowd or overfeed them.
if within 3-5 days all ur fish died due to high ammonium, then most probably u overfed them...otherwise how could ammonium build up to such high levels in such a short time?
