Anybody has any experience working in China? I think it's a good opportunity to get more experience. You have 3 years experience so I assume you are still young. Do they provide flight ticket to go back to M'sia, maybe once every 2 months ? |

I don't really like the China lifestyle. I have been to China for business trip and spent nearly a week there. The standard of living is very high and working and traffic is hectic. If I were you, I won't consider the offer even is a good paid for me.
Just my 2 cents. |

It's kinda good opportunity for you. However, RMB12k is quite low. Try to negotiate higher. My brother is working in Shanghai with RMB20k per month but he said very difficult to save money.

If u looking for experience, why not since u r alone n not committed.
Taxation is 28% of your salary .. Dunt recommend u to drive there as they can be sly to "waht" u if u have an accident (Foreigners !!). But it is true that cost of living in Shanghai is high but further outskirts will be cheaper though but then again, it's very far from main Shanghai, like Tanjong Malim going to Damansara. Try getting the company to offer u a expat package .. that is the bonus!! I was offered per annum 50K USD to work in Shanghai for 2 years contract but i decline because i am have family here .. also i was offer the local pkg. This means, everything is on ur own .. taxation, accom, rental, etc .. In additional, i am banana-guy ... thus i afraid i wont fare well there as i dunt know any mandarin, reading or writing !! |

Major Chinese cities like Shanghai have very polluted air. I heard a story about an expat there who used to jog in the mornings but the doctor told him to stop after medical tests showed that his lungs had deteriorated like a smoker's.... |

why not have a try on it ? Since you're still young. As I know eating in Shanghai is consider cheap. Only thier accomodation is much more expensive.
Usually in Shanghai, take the public transportation always better than driving. |

Ask for expat package which will include housing allowances, health and misc.Depends on how you can negotiate with your employers.I live in shanghai for 3 months and i find living there is GREAT! RMB20K wouldn't be enough if you go shopping everyday, clubbing every night definately...If you live a moderate kind of spending life then you have ample to save provided you know where to eat and buy stuffs.
Instead of living in PuXi,why not try living in PuDong.there's a great place to stay which has cheap places to eat as well. |

Wow! But how is the tax there? I heard for expats, the tax is around 20%. If I'm offered RMB 12k, only left RMB 9.6 left Instead of living in PuXi,why not try living in PuDong.there's a great place to stay which has cheap places to eat as well. |
