QUOTE(sms2u @ Mar 13 2016, 05:58 PM) Which countries have 5% or 10% cash rebate when swipe with credit card? You should explore on what the big boys are getting. While it may not be 10% cashback like the HLB wise (which needs micro managing with caps & also off topic since we are talking about MBB dwindling benefits), 1.5% onwards is not uncommon (some even without caps). Just look at our neighbour down south as a start.I do not agree as Malaysia have consider have many cash back when swipe credit card. But it is bank negara enforce tbank to reduce the charge on credit card to merchant which make bank cannot earn much. So, bank have to reduce the cash back / benefit in order to gain. Bank negara trying to encourge more merchanct to accept credit card and make the more transaction can be done via credit card by forcing bank to reduce the charge to merhant from 2/3/5% to lower. Example, now we can see mcdonald is 1 of the example offer credit card payment which we normally just pay as less as RM10 for 1 meal. So, hope more merchant can accept credit card in near future. who know mamak or food court , food stall with accept card in 1 day. This is very common is many country which all transaction done via electronic instead of cash. While we may have many credit card with reasonable cashbacks previously, things had changed. Most notably the recent MBB 2, Aeon Watami (discontinued) & the earlier OCBC Titanium. With the exceptance of PBB Signature, MBB Signature & HLB Wise/Mach, there are no other good cashback credit cards left. Not to mention all of them demands a non-waiveable annual fees (unless with a rather high usage, eg. RM 50k for MBB Signature) especially HLB Wise. I always never believe BNM related excuses; just look at the credit card interest as most banks already reverted to 17.5% or worse 18%. Although there may be directives off & on, but it died down after awhile and banks use this whenever it is being advantages to them. Higher credit card acceptance at reduced credit card holders' benefits? The statement itself does not makes sense (our credit card holders' penetration pales in comparison with countries mentioned previously) unless it is a screwed up proposal by our politicians, just like the RM 50 credit card service tax.
