hi guys, want to ask some opinions, as i have been rejected by maybank 3 times applying maybank2cards. Is there anyway how to know the reason why im being rejected? Im a holder of 4 credit cards with good record payment and no issue with ccris. i am even a UOB Preferred Platinum customer. Any ideas?
*
Why do you need this card anymore? It is worthless junk now. Except if you eat outside every weekends.

not as good as before, but the unlimited 5x tp still worth 1.25% though...

1.25% compare to 3%, 5% and 10% CB cards?

Don't forgot ...
Most of the 3, 5 or 10% Cash back CC do come with Annual fee+6% GST
While M2C or Islamic ikhwan  CC  is Lifetime Fee Waivers...
*
Watami free if swipe 12x/year. So one swipe/month also good enough.

Refer to my post's third point. smile.gif

For a frequent traveller, TP conversion to EM comes handy to upgrade to business class and redeem free tickets. So, TP is useful for some but maybe not you.

Was refering to the post need to pay for AF la.

I am staying on Penang,  there're NO Watami in My State...!!!
*
Er, you got aeon in Penang right? Just go to their customer service counter and apply. No need for watami store. sweat.gif Not sure if you can apply from aeon big. If I am not mistaken can. (check again on aeon big).

Spend anything with Aeon watami except petrol and I forgot what, max RM1k/month and get 3% cashback. Easy to reach. Rather than use M2Card.

From what I know, one of the way to get a watami is like I said, go to their customer service counter and apply.

on paper, m2card amex for sure ranks the lowest. of course compare with others, even Mach or Ikhwan sapu amex.

however, 5% cb weekend dining and unlimited 5X TPs is still so-so OK la, not until "worthless junk"-level la.

i still used it for weekend dining (than using Mach) and pay TNB.
highly not recommended to be primary card; just treat it as 3rd/4th/5th card or use it as "reward" card instead laugh.gif
*
If one don't eat outside? TNB can be paid using HLB ise for maximum CB.

If you don't want, then don't keep la, if you have one la. We already stated our reasons and yet you still argue with us.
Whatever you mentioned, we know the cards in and out very well. smile.gif
We also have other cards la. doh.gif

Not arguing. Just wondering why would one want to keep a card that is no longer competitive?

Reasons

- Weekend cashback on dining
- TP points for frequent fliers

even better if dont eat outside.

adoi, u are thinking 1 card to cover everyone and everything meh? or 1 card for every type of payment meh?
again, on paper, every cards out there can cover everything. but in fact, it doesnt work that way la, there are many restrictions (e.g. income level, dsr, etc etc)

i would rather having less cards = less spending = less liability = better cashflow/lowest debt = more meaningful & quality life!  thumbup.gif
*
Well seeing that I don't own one yet, I would actually prefer discipline with multiple low limit cards for different needs = decrease liability (low CL + discipline) = maximum cashback from bank = more savings = more meaningful & quality life! thumbup.gif

If I can keep, why can't I? doh.gif
Since my salary allows me to keep and add other cards at the same time. Why must I die-die want to cancel it? I still earn some dining cashback.

Please la, one man's meat is another man's poison.
You may think those things are not important, it may be important for others. smile.gif

Have a good read: http://generationsxyz.blogspot.my/2015/08/...-life-amex.html
*
Ya I know one man's meat is another man's poison.
Cause :
1. Having so many cards make purse/wallet bulky. Cannot add new cards with more benefits. tongue.gif
2. Let maybank amex userbase drop. So maybe they will come out with something to increase target. If nobody cancel, target maintain, maybank won't introduce new CB cards. Banks are always chasing targets. Like I always say, always maximise the bank. Why should one let the bank maximise you? Already most people are paying loans to the bank. Why want to let them "bully" you by having miserable 1.25% CB?

I have read that and I find it nonsense. Recycling old post into a new post. No new info if one have been following his blog. Some old things. M2C for dining + MIC for petrol and groceries. Nothing on utilities and other stuff.

Well thanks to Maybank removing CB, I found the cards needed for my future use.

hhaha by the time you get ur own card, then you'll know it will not cover everything that you spend.

e.g. go nearby 7-Eleven buy something, but they doesnt accpet credit card.  laugh.gif
also, to maximize cashback, you gotta spend even more. the cashback that you think you "gained" doesnt actually justify the need to spend. in the end, still gotta figure out how to payoff the outstanding  sweat.gif

dont chase max cashback, unless you really need to spend that much and have the ability to payoff 30-50 days later.
*
I know it won't cover everything that's why I am always on the lookout for cards to cover the uncovered stuff. tongue.gif

Thanks for the advise. Don't worry I won't. I always set a target for my monthly spending. I will NOT spend more than that target. So CB to me is just bonus. (You have no idea how frugal I can be). Just pay online transfer money to the CC no only right?

Well if no new cards are introduce and no changes are made, here is a rundown of cards I will use
HLB Wise + Maybank Ikhwan + UOB VOX/Ambank True CC. I don't dine outside, I don't buy those expensive clothes, shoes, bag or anything fancy (again I am an extremely frugal guy). So the 3 cards will be more than enough for me. rclxms.gif

Gen-X, someone says your blog is nonsense.

Well, to be fair he did mention about utilities and you can't accept 1.25% return, let's put it this way. smile.gif

It's OK, you can have all the cards you want. Nobody is stopping you. smile.gif
*
Actually, I already PM him, but no reply. sad.gif

Anyway, AmBank True Card is a not attractive card. Do more research. smile.gif
*
Er, is for online purchase. AmBank True Card 3%CB, no overseas charge unlike CIMB CB CC. Free for life. UOB Vox 5% but do not know how much the bank charge for forex exchange. Then need to swipe every month. I don't shop every month.
Cannot afford MVI or M2AMEXP sweat.gif So that is the next best thing.

I just found put today that Maybank revoked the 5% cash back for AMEX cards on weekend spending and only limit it on dining! Quietly they go and cancel it... and for the past month I have been careful to spend on my credit card during weekends. They should've at least have the courtesy to inform their card holders

I wanna change card already. Any good alternatives with good cashback value?
*
HLB Wise, Maybank ikhwan, Aeon watami.

Some retain the maybank 2 card and take additional ikhwan card for maximum benefits issit?
*
M2C still got cashback but only for dining on weekends. There is also effective CB of 1.25% (exchanging TP for vouchers) but you are better off with the card I mentioned. So if you don't eat outside a lot, better cut the card. Free up some space. Why want to keep a near useless card? shakehead.gif

If you are from KL, use HLB wise, select mobile (already selected) + groceries + another one up to you. You can pay TM at Sam grocer (there are other Sam grocer in malaysia), top up TnG there as wel.. It is counted as groceries and will earn you 10% CB. But to activate the CB, need to swipe 10xRM50. Refer to HLB thread for more info. Ikhwan for backup in case HLB wise CB limit is reached. You can use ikhwan to get 5% CB on petrol and groceries on fri and sat. Aeon watami 3% but must spend about RM1000/month for 3 months. Refer to their respective threads for more info.

I dont think i can use that much to reap the maximum benefits of the hlb wise card.  Ikhwan seems ok but only limoted to petrol and groceries. Aeon not even considering. Citibank platinum cashback seems like a good option too
*
Don't worry. You can use HLB Wise to buy voucher 10x RM50 voucher to get RM50 CB. Maximum CB is RM100 (spend RM1000). Refer HLB wise thread for more info.

better ask him to detailed out his avg monthly spending amount & pattern before we advise him something that he cannot commit.

He is saying ikhwan only limited to petrol and groceries. Guess he want a card able to give more.

QUOTE(wkyrichie @ Sep 17 2015, 10:57 PM)
Lol.. thanks... I want immediate cashbacks that deduct from ur credit card bill.. not vouchers that might make me end up spending more. You know how you get a RM100 voucher but you always end up spending more than RM100? Because you wouldn't wanna "rugi" if the item that you buy is worth less than RM100, but it is also difficult to buy something which is exactly RM100
*
Well look at it this way, who ask you to spend more than the voucher? By buying say 10 x RM50 vouchers, you still have room for spending another RM500 (max cashback on 3 categories you selected is rm100 = Rm1000 of spending)

Once you swipe 10 x RM50, anything after that will be given cashback provided is inside the 3 category. To maximise your CB, swipe the 10 x RM50 only for the 3 items you selected.

So say your groceries bill is RM90, pay RM50 using that voucher, pay the balance RM40 with your credit card. (you still have still get CB on that RM40. There are so many ways to earn CB with HLB wise. Petrol, paying TNB and water bills,(you can swipe rm50 at petrol station, split your TNB and water bill into RM50 and pay via uobpayonline. Of course you can only pick 2 category as mobile is already selected by default.

For more info, refer to Hlb wise thread.

There's also PB Visa Signature if your salary is >rm100k/year 6% CB.
