Hi there! Can you share how do you travel around jangheung, suncheon - is it from busan?
will you ride train or using bus.. i'm planning my itinerary (travelling in April). I planned to go to goseong dinosaur park from busan, then going to suncheon then to jangheung to catch the ferry to jeju.. but i couldn't find details on the transportation for those areas.. can you share?

if it's not too much can u share your itinerary as well?

thanks a lot sophi!

i would love a walk along the cherry blossoms tree, but since my trip is in mid apr, am not sure if i'm in time for that. Heard that the winter came eary this year, so spring might start early (haha that's my prediction, my first item to do after reaching seoul is to go to yeouido to see whether the cherry blossoms still blooms.. haha)

i'm wondering for your alt 1: how are u going from gwangju to jeju eh? by plane?

my itinerary is as follows:
Seoul -> Gyeongju -> Busan -> Goseong -> Jangheung -> Jeju -> Jangheung -> Damyang -> Gwangju -> Seoul

But then i realised that i haven't put in my itenerary for gyeonggi-do and gangwon-do, so i believe some places might be taken off list. For example, Damyang, and no overnight in gyeongju and gwangju, jeju only 1 night.. Suncheon and Ulsan is originally in the list but i have taken off too.

sigh.. hopefully to cover all this in 10 days will not become impossible..

Hello!

We have few alternatives to travel down south from Seoul:

1) Seoul > Jeonju > Gwangju > Jeju > Jangheung > Suncheon > Busan > Gyeonju > Seoul
2) Seoul > Jeonju > Suncheon > Jangheung > Jeju > Jangheung > Suncheon > Busan > Gyeonju > Seoul
3) Seoul > Gyeonju > Busan > Suncheon > Jangheung > Jeju > Jangheung > Suncheon > Jeonju > Seoul

Basically, we plan to stay more days in Seoul, Jeju, Gyeonju and Suncheon but these may change after we research more on things to do for each place. We won't be staying overnight in Busan and Andong will be the last place to go before Seoul or after visiting the southern parts (if we have enough time).

....

Our main transportation travelling between the cities will be train. Buses will be between Jangheung, Suncheon and Busan.

Wish I can go in April for the wonderful Spring, you'll enjoy the walk along cherry blossom trees eh? smile.gif

aha.. i noticed the influence of 1N2D there thumbup.gif
the fan mussels looks very delicious there.. now i'm drooling..

Damyang is previously featured in the earlier episodes of 1N2D (Ep 91-92). It's a very nice place with bamboo forest and metasequoia trees. The road with metasequoia trees there is chosen as one of the most beautiful road in Korea. They also have Bamboo Festivals during spring. In addition, I want to see the pond that Seunggi falls in.. hehehe (Seunggi's pond)..

Goseong is a less travelled place for tourists - but it is a very nice place to go, and very beautiful too.. If you are into dinosaurs, i would recommend you to come here. It is one of the world's three top sites for dinosaur footprints after colorado n argentina. (i don't think i can go to US or agentina for this, and as i really wanna see dinosaurs even though it's footprints, fossils, or bones, might as well just see it here). I have surf around the net and found some pics from other travellers, and i'm impressed with the view.

yes, suncheon is very nice too, but i think i may pass on that one since i'm going to jeju.. andong too.. cry.gif
i think if i want to visit all the places that i want to go, i need to spend 3 months there.. hahaha.. which is impossible ($$ and leave constraint ma).

QUOTE(sophistafunk @ Jan 17 2011, 01:21 AM)
Oh for alt 1, yes, I will go to Jeju by flight from Gwangju. But most likely I will go to Jeju from Jangheung for budget reasons. Would love to try the clam bibimbap and fan mussels in Jangheung! smile.gif

What are the nice places to visit in Goseong and Damyang? Worth visiting?

I also have 10 days to travel in South Korea, by looking at my itinerary it's quite tight. May not even have time for Andong so I'm saving Gyeongi and Gangwon for next trip. My plan is to "conquer" major areas in southern parts and go for northern parts next time smile.gif

Since you're travelling in mid-April, I suggest spending 2 nights each in Jeju and Gyeonju. I had been there before, though during winter but I can imagine the sceneries will be beautiful there in Spring! Especially in Jeju, do visit Mt Halla and try the Olle Pass! Gyeonju has a lot a lot of UNESCO sites, if you're interested then better stay 2 days there.

Suncheon has nice sceneries too, traditional folk village and beautiful temples. I'm envious of you able to visit them during Spring!

I'm worried about the weather in late Feb to early March.. since it's miserably cold now, I can't imagine how to survive during that period.. with all the walking, travelling from one place to another and aiming to pack light.. aiks  rclxub.gif

Sophi, you get tempted to go to Goseong too. Dino.. we want to see you.. hahaha

I'm also afraid that i might get bored with folk villages, hence, i only choose one folk village to go and skip the rest. am still deciding whether to go for; the one in Seoul or Jeju.

The subbed 1N2D episodes are from ep 27 onwards. Ep 27 is the first episode that Seunggi first join the cast, and the first episode using the name 1N2D (previously it is named differently). The earlier episodes are quite funny on its own way, you'll understand it when you watch it.. enjoy!

QUOTE(sophistafunk @ Jan 19 2011, 05:58 PM)
Oh yes our itinerary is mainly due to 1N2D!!! I really love the show, starting to become a die-hard fan! U remember the clam bibimbap where they added sesame oil on it? Geez, I so wanna try it!

Now that you mentioned Damyang and Goseong.. I am tempted to change my itinerary to add in Goseong. I did a google search and really like what I saw. It's in between Suncheon and Busan biggrin.gif So perhaps... I can slot it in *cross fingers*

Seunggi's pond <-- LOL hahaha.. man, I didn't watch that episode! Gonna download it tongue.gif

You know, with so many places planned to go, I'm afraid I might get bored with folk villages and palaces visited on each different area.. that was how I felt when I went to Siem Reap. After Angkor Wat we went to see Elephant Terraces and others (forgot the names!).. three of us became tired and bored :-X

Same sentiments, I need a year in South Korea to visit all the places I want to go, minus the hectic schedule (1 night here 1 night there)..

Added on January 19, 2011, 9:23 pmurgh.. seriously does DSP has financial problem? apparently KARA has follow the footsteps of their sunbaenim, SS501 by terminating contract with DSP. Why do DSP let the famous groups go? I think only Rainbow is with DSP now..

ah sorry, become out of topic pula..

QUOTE(SSJBen @ Jan 19 2011, 03:25 PM)
Not wanting to go OT but.. uhm please re-instate that statement?
KARA didn't disband and WILL NOT disband. They're just terminating their contracts with their company, DSP.

Theres a day and night difference between disbanding and terminating contracts.

Head to the Kara topic if wanna know more. smile.gif

Er Derwyn, did you get the 2011 version or 2010 version?
Last week I check, they do not have the 2011 version yet..

I went to almost all the palaces in Seoul and it became boring after a few.hahaha. So u might want to skip some of the folk village and if u are a scenery person, spend more time at the places with nice scenery. Anyway good luck in planning your trip...get the Korea book from KTO, have u got the Korea book from KTO? Its very useful  tongue.gif
