i went to korea for 6days. total money spent only like rm800. Really save money. The food we ate only street foods. Like if u go to Dongdaemun market, you can get the snacks. Then for bfast, went to the local 7E(forgot their name), and bought burger or rice rolls. Spent most of the day sight seeing. Didn't get to try ginseng chicken or other expensive stuffs. On a tight budget

Nevertheless, I did have fun. hehe

edit: btw, not really necessary to learn but learn few words or phrases. Like if u want to ask for bill and stuffs. Get a phrasebook with korean letters(hangul) in it. Easier for the koreans to see. Btw, if you go to popular tourist spots, you can see ppl dressed in red winter coats(i went during last dec) which is actually tourism ppl. They can speak English(not so fluent la), japanese and mandarin(dam fluent). Ask them to guide you lo I spotted one in front of the palace. They helped me a lot! hehe
