What are the requirements for a Malaysian to work in Korea ?
*
It depends what you want to work as there.
Because there are so many types of jobs, it is hard to say.

But first and foremost, for the average person... you first need a certified TOPIK (Test of Proficiency in Korean) test first of atleast Beginner in most jobs.
Again, it does depend on what job you wanna do. Having a TOPIK cert will help you alot.

But we might be going off topic here though in going into jobs since this is a travelling thread... XD

no one go gangnam? smile.gif
*
I live in Gangnam... not that I'm rich that is.
Honestly Gangnam has nothing much to see... mostly all posh places, expensive stuff every where.

If you just want to see nice cars and rich people, just pop by and look see.
Nothing to shop unless you got the moolah, which you basically can still get in KL anyways.

QUOTE(sfwong1 @ Jan 1 2011, 06:44 PM)
TOPIK? what if for example i graduated in msia with a degree then go korea look for job need sit for the TOPIK cert to get job? or is it just a plus in yr resume?
*
It all depends on what job mostly.
But whatever the job, the best is to have a TOPIK cert as it will serve as a plus.

Hmm... I see, there is one place where rich ppl all stay, where the celeb all stay near each other in the same neighbourhood. Is it gangnam?
*
Emm for privacy purposes I obviously can' reveal where celebs stay.
What I can tell you is that not ALL stays in Gangnam.

It also depends on the parent company's HQ residing at which area.

QUOTE(aeiou228 @ Jan 2 2011, 11:32 AM)

What about the job prospect in service sector like Hospitality ? Do you think a Malaysian degree holder + TOPIK who also speaks english and mandarin is well accepted to Korea service sector ?
*
Quite high chance you can get accepted.
A bonus plus is if you can learn more about their culture, the better your chances are.

Yes SPAO is quite a popular clothing brand in Korea.
Quite expensive also and alot of imitations as well, so beware on where you buy em'.

Do you think Jan will the coldest compared to Dec?
*
It's gonna get even colder the next couple of weeks.
Before christmas the norm was around -5c or so. About -10c at night.

Now it is is around -8c to -10c daytime, night time can even reach -17c.

Really freaking cold this time the winter, last year wasn't this bad.

QUOTE(Visionary @ Jan 8 2011, 01:31 AM)

I'm no facial expert, but many people go to "The Face Shop".
Lots of cheap stuff there and they're great also, pretty much the same re-branded products which are often times twice as expensive if you buy them in other shops.

The Face Shop can be found all over Seoul (rather the entire S.Korea actually), they've got so many branches it is almost like a 7-11 outlet already.

Yes Spao is very expensive, their products are quite well known in Korea.
And also because the nation's top idol girl-group is also endorsing them as well, they get to be expensive also.

To be honest, I don't see anything special from Spao really.

talk about night life piss me off a little,i was staying in hotel capitol, and my tourguide told me there is a night club underneath the hotel so then he was explaining the details and stuff,he say alot lenglui lepak there one so me and my friends thought wanna go check it out,but when we was about to walk down to enter we kena stop by the ppl there saying for koreans only  sweat.gif  doh.gif ,then we decided to walk all the way up towards the itaewon street where alot of bars and pub and clubs also got but we dont dare to enter lol cos it looks kinda dodgy and scary plus we dint know how to speak korean so we are afraid that we will have a hard time ordering things, just imagine buildings in bricksfield where u have to walk up those small staircase, ended up we just explore walk around then return to hotel.
*
QUOTE(zstan @ Jan 12 2011, 04:37 PM)
wa...their club also see nationality one a? rclxub.gif
*
Emm... actually one of the main reasons is because that if you can't speak Korean, they won't let you in.
It's not that they are racist or what... it is to protect their own staff mostly.

Because foreigners might get mistaken on what the girl says or does and that could lead to trouble... so yea, better to avoid than earn a lil' bit of money (sorry I'm sounding a lil' harsh).
If you can speak Korean (atleast fluently, even if it is rather basic-intermediate), they'll allow you in.

It was one of the issues I've heard about when I went to Korea.

Not that I've ever tried going into a pub like that though... haha.

IMO... best time to go to Jeju is during spring time.
The breeze of the wind there is just.... wow. Really you can just lie down on the grass and it'll feel soooo awesome.

KARA didn't disband and WILL NOT disband. They're just terminating their contracts with their company, DSP.

Theres a day and night difference between disbanding and terminating contracts.

Head to the Kara topic if wanna know more. smile.gif

When's the best period between June to August to visit this lovely country? Heard that Late June till September will be Monsoon season? Best if got festival can see.

Planning to visit Seoul ->  Busan via KTX -> Tokyo.

Wanted to go to Japan for Kanamara Matsuri, but it's in April  cry.gif still studying.
*
Personally (for me atleast), the best time to go and visit is during Spring time.
You can really enjoy the weather there, it's not nerve-wrecking-freezing cold like it is now, but not hot until you say "might as well just stay in malaysia".

The weather is awesome during Spring last year, I expect it to be cooler this year though but regardless.. I'm going back around April time.
Temps during spring are around 5-10c at night in Seoul, upwards of around 15c in the daytime.

Spring starts around mid-March to May.

QUOTE(stimix @ Jan 27 2011, 09:10 PM)
As you can see from the weather chart on pg1, Jun till August is the hottest months & also the wettest mths. Expecting temp from 25 till 32C..almost similar to current KL temp liao..
*
I belief it won't be as hot this year... infact I'm only expecting around 22c on an average this coming summer.

*
Shouldn't be as cold as the previous 2 weeks, but still cold regardless.

*
Temps already started to rise since this week, on CNY eve it actually reached 10c in the daytime with no wind.

But come next 2 weeks, temps expected to be around that region..
However can expect windy conditions, which is still quite cold.

I am going on 20th March which is another 2 weeks to go. I am pretty sure that we dont need visa to go to Korea. Just bring our passport along, stamp at LCCT and then another stamp at Incheon. More like visa on arrival.

But my friend was poisoning my mind, he said better check with the Korean Embassy wether I need to get visa before I fly. Do we need it? Tell me we Malaysian does not need to get a visa before we fly. Just bring your passport is enough. Right?
*
For Malaysians, visa is not needed to enter S.Korea.
Unless you are planning to work there or something that is.
