since you're staying at co-op residence, i do believe its in dangdemun area,
but you mention its still hard to find dangdemun market,
so, this give me an impression that the dangdemun is quite large area, yes?

Reporting from Seoul.
Today go Namiseum. Beautiful place. Good for photography. The pond already formed a thin layer of ice.
Dongdeamun selling down jacket <RM100 very nice and latest one.
Makan dinner at 7th food court @ Doota shopping complex, Dongdaemun. 5K to 8K, big serving and many side dises. Ordered 2 sets 3 person eat also can not finish. Very nice food and better than easting street food.
T-money card is a must for foreigner. Don't save, buy one. without it very susah lor.

QUOTE(sfwong1 @ Nov 20 2010, 02:22 AM)
what is this t-money thing? like a prepaid card to scan for boarding trains?
*
guess its like our touch'n'go card,
but somehow, i do believe the usage is more wide, e.g.: taxi

Does this mean a capacitive touch screen phone work well in a cold condition?

QUOTE(atah @ Nov 22 2010, 04:15 PM)
also the taxi driver didn't speak english at all, luckily we rented a local handphone at the airport, so managed to call the motel and let the driver talk to them directly in korean.

I would like to rent a local handphone too. Mind telling me/us about it smile.gif

what's your definition of cold? during my trip the lowest it went was about 3 degrees? still working fine. but most of the time if i use wifi its in a very comfy shop. do note that you cannot use it with gloves on though. quite freezing at times for my fingers. haha.

don't need rent la. thanks to iphone 4, just go to shop and buy a GSM sim card put in your phone and you are good to go.
*
doh.gif need to buy iphone first lol wink.gif
but suppose you're right, can't use capacitive screen while thick glove on...
i've tried with normal rubber surgery gloves, its work rolleyes.gif

their telco usually doesn't use simcard,
so, its preferable to rent mobile phone there,
another option is roaming.

2. Buy in Seoul.

It's okay if you have something to wear first to resist the coldness in Jan,
otherwise it's advisable to buy it here. Still need some good time shopping around namdeamun or other market

Btw, I have booked a place called Seoulwise Guesthouse located near Hongik University stop. It costs me 18000 won/RM50 each person for mixed dorm room. They provide free wifi and breakfast. Has anyone been here?
*
from the location map, it seem like its quite far from metro line,
no sure of the actual distance though!
