Reporting from yongpyong ski resort, its snowing here.man I tell u skiing is not easy. Its so tiring and when u ski downwards its very hard to stop and u tend to bang into those ppl not moving. I feel that skiing its not that fun cos u just have to pay to rent the eqs and u don have to pay to enter the skiing place. Just walk in feel the ice then can walk out,no problem. Total I spend about 75000 won to rent the eqs. I think its not worth it. But still depends on the individual.

Haha.. That's why I just went to snow resort for pic taking but not renting bcos I already know I will not be enjoying it + furthermore it was so cold when I was there ~ 14/12 & I just wear my down jacket without any long johns & wool socks!!

Added on December 27, 2010, 5:23 pmBTW, notice that Seoul will snow only a day or two after extreme dry cold of minus 10C.. Today snowing but temp increased to minus 3C..

I went to pyeongchang to ski then overnight at yeongpyong ski resort, cos the tour guide say yeongpyong ski got a lot of ppl so not that nice then we went to pyeongchang to ski. Actually,I think the most important eq Is your glove and scarf or something to protect your ear. The 1st day I reach I just wore a down jacket. With my normal short from msia then went out at about 12 midnight walk at the street for 10 min with the wind blow I already shaking and my ear become so numb that I can't feel it. I was so afraid I just drop off when I touch it lol so went inside a building rest 1st then continue walk for another 20 plus min then tak tahan edi run back inside hotel. Really my advice don buy those glove from winter time or universal traveller all useless can't tahan. The best is buy skiing glove, that one can tahan damn good! I got mine for 15000 won from the skiing shop while renting tjhe eqs

icon_question.gif I'm only going for 4 days trip in Seoul. Should I invest on 1 ski glove or 1 insulated/dual layer glove?

I'm planning to go to LG Konjiam Resort since it's the closest from Seoul city. Furthermore, they claim to be the only resort (or probably the first one) to limit the number of visitors (7,000 pax per day). Has anyone been here before?

Also, would wearing wool hat sufficient enough to keep the ears warm or should I get ears warmer + wool hat?

Many thanks forumers! You guys really help a LOT of indie travelers here notworthy.gif

Aiks, i think the tour agent got some commission from there...I went to yongpyeong too...i took the 4 hour session (12.30pm - 4.30pm) which cost 22000won for equipment rental and 15000won for ski gear rental, so total 37000 only...but i think 4 hours is more than enough d cos its very tiring having to drag the ski up after coming down from the slope.

If you just wanna experience ski resort without skiing as me, just google some of the Ski resorts in Korea, get the directions on how to go & sometime, they even provide free shuttle services.. Once you reach there, decide whether to look around & snap few photos & play wth the snow or rent the equipment. I decided not to rent and only spent ~ 1hr there wth only 40min outdoor..Too cold! blush.gif

How much I spent..Free transport & free pictures + expensive taxi ride from Nami Island haha (16K won)

Assuming that your hotel is in seoul....vivaldi park should be nearer compared to yongpyeong right?(I'm not sure where is vivaldi park).

Agree with stimix...i think it should be cheaper if u try to get the directions and go there yourself and rent the equipment and clothes there...i skied for 4 hours, ski and boots rental=22000won, ski wear rental=15000won, shuttle from seoul to yongpyeong=free from kto...i think the 100k includes an instructor, u can check with your hotel...but i think u dont really need an instructor cos i saw some posts from people who went earlier said that the instructors mostly teach in Korean. But it depends on u la...if ur on a budget, u can try to do everything by yourself....but if u can afford it and want to save the trouble of looking for transport and communicating with the people in the ski resort, u can take the package.

By the way I find skiing quite fun but tiring...bend your knees when ur going down and when u want to stop, make an A shape using ur ski (looks something like this '/\'). And don't be afraid to fall, I fell many times and it did not really hurt...had to purposely fall to stop many times when i almost knock into someone because can't stop in time.haha

Should be ok i guess...When are u going? If I'm not mistaken there are fireworks every night at 7 or 8pm at everland...if u want to wait for the fireworks need to spend whole day lo, and try not to go on weekends, or else u'll spend alot of time que-ing for the rides. =)

Seoul City bus tour. One day can cover most of the attractions in Seoul provided you limit each attractions to 1/2 hrs haha

If I'm not mistaken, yes, you can rent it out at the palace.
But my friend suggest that I go to this place called Party Princess.

Party Princess
Five minutes from Exit #7, Euljiro 1-ga Station, Seoul Subway Line 2, and down the alleyway between Kookmin Bank and Hana Bank. Café + pictures wearing Korean traditional dress (Hanbook).

Everywhere would be cold now....however yes; everland would be slightly colder because on top of the hill.
Anyway, depending on the weather conditions; the rides might not be fully operational.
And if you are into those thrill rides; then be prepared to have winds blowing straight to your face and head as you have to take off your hats and ear muffler for most of the thrill rides.

But if you're not going for the thrill rides, there's still sight-seeings and many venue for photography shoots. There's a petting zoo, a monkey "house" - many type of monkeys, a polar bear, siberian tiger etc...

So depending on your purpose and what is your interest. Like uncle stimix didn't go because he don't like theme parks. Me and my friends went because there's many thing to shoot (photo) and yes we did try the wooden roller-coaster.
