Seoul Trip 2010-Day 3, Getting lost at Dongdaemun
After the romantic visit at Seoul Tower, I decided to go back to Dongdaemun and visit the night market there for food. And after that..visit the lanturn festival..but all did not materialise. Unfortunately we didn't know exactly where was the market. We managed to ask two local people there for directions. Even after searching the place on their GPS, they still pointed us to a totally wrong direction!!! @_@ Ended up walking in circles with the cold bitter wind blowing against our faces. Didnt manage to find the place in the end also. ='( Some river. Can see many people walking down there. All oblivious to the cold apparently. Carvings on the floor! Very unique. After losing hope to find the market, i went back to Doota! Shopping complex to find food. Was desperately hungry liao. Unfortunately, the food court already close. Haiz. So in vain, we went to a Chinese restaurant nearby! Tastes not bad la. don't ask the price thanks. After dinner...its continued shopping again in the mall.. @@ During cold seasons like this, heaters are basically placed in all the shops. So its very warm & comfy inside. A bit shocking to our body though. Cold then warm then cold. @@ |

QUOTE(nyemah_mulya @ Nov 26 2010, 09:28 PM) Are you REALLY sure it is not possible? Don't just go around saying it is trespassing or what not without sources backing you up. Plus it is not exactly 'entering' DMZ, just the area some hundred meters before the DMZ. No one can actually enter DMZ even before the conflicts. The furthest civilians can go is only up to JSA. The areas described in my link are civilians area, train stations included. erm. he lives in korea. is that source good enough? |

Seoul Trip 2010-Day 4, Souvenir shopping at Insadong
After a good night sleep at the 4 star hotel, its off to Insadong! The so called cultural street of Seoul. Having decided enough is enough, we took the taxi instead. =P Whole journey about rm20 divided by 4 people. Look at the price per night!! That's about RM540! @@ And my tour package is already RM1299! One of my regrets at Seoul. Didn't manage to try their famous sauna. =/ Some street shots: This is nice! Something similiar to our 油炸鬼。 What to see at Insadong? Souvenirs shops of course! =D Ding dong bells~ This post has been edited by zstan: Nov 28 2010, 12:51 AM |

After tired of shopping, we then randomly entered this shop. The shop serves almost the same thing as the dumpling shop i posted earlier here at Myeongdong.
Seafood 'pizza' Green bean(绿豆) pizza. Well, technically its bean sprout pizza. But bean sprouts came from green beans right? If you get lost, don't worry...come to this Help Point..=D |

QUOTE(Semper Fi @ Nov 28 2010, 10:14 AM) Hi All, if you eat this for one whole week, then yes, rm2000 = approximately 600 000 won should be enough.Greetings! Just checking, is it safe to travel to Korea now? I might be flying there in mid Jan. Do i have to check with the embassy? Where do i check? I'll be staying at friend's place, Hannam-dong, Yongsang-gu. Is it easy to get around from my friend's place? Was wondering roughly how much would be sufficient enough to secure me there? I'm thinking of RM2K. My stay is more than a week. Btw, anyone here staying in Korea right now? Feedbacks are much appreciated! Many thanks! 2200 won times 3 times 7 equals 46200 won. since accomodation is free u still have about 500k plus won to spend. This post has been edited by zstan: Nov 28 2010, 03:37 PM |

QUOTE(Semper Fi @ Nov 28 2010, 08:22 PM) Hi SSjBen & Zstan, you can actually save on breakfast..because koreans don't really eat breakfast anyway..a normal shop would cost about 7000 won per meal..so its about 14000 won..about rm45 per day? Thanks for your response! Normally i won't have 3meals a day.Lolx...So wat if i only have 1or2 meals a day + eating cheap? I probably will be spending more on transportation since my fren is working, so most of the time i will be on my own. N i'm someone who is terrible in direction, so hopefully i will do fine. >.< Does da local speaks Eng? If yes,dat wil be beneficial to me as i cud ask for direction. Any flea market, bazaar dat worth for shopping? As i don't intend to spend much on shopping. I have put da following onto my itinerary as of now, wondering how long journey from Yongsan-gu? -Lotte World/Everland -Namiseom island -Namsan Tower -Loveland no they don't really speak in english..but based on your budget..you can opt for taxi..Yongsan-gu is at Itaewon region..near to dongdaemun/nandaemun/myeongdong by subway... flea market? can have a look at nandaemun market i am only familiar with namsan tower la..its just opposite myeongdong subway..the rest maybe others can help.. |

Seoul Trip 2010-Day 4, More shopping at Nandaemun
After spending heavily at Insadong, i now arrive at Nandaemun, which is another shopping haven! @@ All clothes here selling at factory prices, damn cheap! And this is where i dropped my camera on the floor and broke my lens hood. So not much mood walk around liao. Will remember this place for a long time. T_T Some street shots: There are many gates, so be sure to check which gate you came from. The aftermath After that it was back to the hotel again, before departing for the airport. |

(ok this is a bit of an exaggeration) sharing something light here. if you happen to have the chance to watch the news at korea, don't be surprised that the female newscasters are pretty and wearing very low cut shirts & short skirts on air. I'm thinking of whether to have dinner first or just wait till we board the plane. minimum two hours before the flight lo. but the queue will be long, so make it 3 hours. what time is your flight? if after 10pm like that no proper meal one. only those maggi and stuff. and all restaurants at the airport closes at 9.30pm. |

Seoul Trip 2010-Day 4, Incheon International Airport & the journey back home
After all the shopping & lenglui watching in Seoul, it has come to an end and its time to go home! At first we planned to depart our hotel at 5.30pm, no thanks to 2 tourist from our Singaporean neighbours who somehow forgotten the lessons of time keeping, we departed at 6.30pm. Passing by Incheon toll...about 1 hours time.. And so we arrived at the World's number 1 airport, Incheon International Airport. Seriously, i really doubt how they got the award. okla quite big..but almost same like KLIA or maybe bigger.. See all the lines here? when it was almost check in time, those attendants all kelam-kabut keep change the line here and there. End up some who queued up first because last or their line became no more. Fortunately for my group we still retained first. Some of them quite angry and shouted at the workers. Kesian. Check in time was soooooooooo slow. Apparently they can't count properly. We have a few people checking in, so our total baggage allowance was, let's say 100kg. But nooo, they say each person is 15kg, cannot add, bla bla bla. Or it might be Air Asia's fault that they did not notify them of these features. Drag drag drag about 40 minutes only got to check in. Line up at 6.45pm, finish check in 8.30pm. One more thing, all the shops here closes at 9.30pm sharp! Oh man, when we went to look for food around 8.45pm already cannot find shops. Having no choice, we went to food court to makan KFC. Even then, many things in the menu also sold out. What is this man, international airport but no food to eat?! I can walk in LCCT anytime now and still find food and the whole place doesn't look as dead. == So they expect people to puasa after 9.30pm? Food aside, 90% of those duty free shops also close by 9.30pm. 9.15pm those staffs already standing by waiting to run. The whole airport is technically a dead place by 9.30pm. How did it get world number one my brain cannot compute. Or maybe its just world number 1 during the day? 3 piece KFC for Rm24. And apparently korean people don't eat chilli sauce. Hmm. Had to pay RM1 for this. Haha. RM1 sauce. Feels good man. Workers rushing home. == Flight back home. _________ Ok that's about all from me. Feel free to browse through my blog for more pictures. Enjoy your trip to korea and i also wish to go back once again. |
