This zerolution appears to look very tempting. I'm currently on Celcom 5gb + 5gb(weekend) data @RM80/month. So monthly I get 10GB @RM80. Same with Maxis ONE plan 128 = 10gb/month.
But lets take a look at this. Lets say I would like to get myself a brand new Samseng S7. Lowest plan for this device is MOP128.
Normally with Celcom I never exceed data usage and the bills are constantly at RM80+gst.
This is my calculation base on Samseng Galaxy S7 device. I did comparison with celcom plan since that is the plan that i'm currently using now.
GST not taken into account. Exact figure can be higher.
Please correct me if i'm wrong.
Option 1
Stay with Celcom and buy a phone.
Celcom plan - RM80 x 12 = RM960
Brand new phone from GEMfive with discount code = RM2111.12
Total for 1 year = RM3071.12
- The phone will be yours. You can sell it anytime if you think you need a new phone.
- Absolutely no contract. ABSOLUTELY. Can terminate anytime without any penalty.
Option 2
With Maxis 12 month new phone program.
Phone RM96 x 12 = RM1152
Maxis ONE plan 128 - RM128 x 12 = RM1536 (Lowest plan for Galaxy S7 is MOP128)
Upgrade program & device protection - RM53 x 12 = RM636
Total for 1 year = RM3324 (not include GST)
- You pay RM3324 but after 1 year when you decided to change new phone, you have to surrender the old one (must be in good condition or you have to pay RM300), and start paying rental again for the new phone. The cycle will continue until you die. Poor soul.
Option 3
With maxis 24 months zerolution
Just buy the phone 0% interest for 24 months
Phone RM96 x 24 = RM2304
Maxis ONE plan 128 - RM128 x 24 = RM3072
Total for 2 years = RM5376
- The phone will be yours.
- 2 years contract. One day within 2 years you realise that Maxis is still Maxshit so you decided to downgrade plan/early termination. You have to pay RRP 2546.23/24 x remaining months. For example, if you decided to terminate after 15 months with 9 months remaining, you have to pay 2546.23/24 x 9 = RM954.8
Obviously Option 2 & 3 are traps for costumer. Please don't fall into this trap.
For me, Option 1 is the best. Peace of mind. So I cancelled my plan to jump ship to Maxis.
Remember, customer always the LOSER. ALWAYS!!!!!!!!!!!!
