Need some opinion... I am planning to buy either the Instax Neo or the SP-1 printer for my girlfriend as her birthday present.

Now she already has the bulky instax mini 7s for a few years now. Since the release of Instax Neo Classic, she has been wanting it badly. Of course for a girl, the size and the "look" of the camera matters (and it matches my x100s style). Other extra features are a plus, but I guess I am the one end up using them the most- auto mode, manual control, timer, tripod mount, double exposure etc. She used the original mini, mainly for traveling...other than that, to be honest it is hardly used...even when travel, we always end up leaving this camera in hotel room, because we have our "real" cameras to bring along...sadly it is a bit neglected.

My first thought of her present is the Instax Neo. But now I am wondering if this "upgrade" is necessary... as I am not sure if she will appreciate the extra features as I do. she definitely will appreciate the Look+less weight+smaller size. Not sure if it can take better photos... it does have more "auto" mode than the original 7s.

What I am trying to say is, it may not be as FUN present. My second thought, instead of giving her another Instax, getting her the SP-1 Printer can give her a more "new fun". She isn't aware of this product. What I am imagine is that, she can print out any photos she likes (after editing in her phone), and have all the photos stick on our wall. We already have a full magnetic wall for that purpose. The ability to see what she is about print out, is definitely a plus point. We have been really holding back to experiment on the mini instax because of how expensive the film is... so her photos are usually very "safe" portrait... hardly any artistic approach. I always get nagged for wasting her films, if I try to shoot something different, but then screwed up.

Do you think Instax Neo or the SP1 printer makes a better present? I am trying to justify a present that has more value, fun and appreciation.

My opinion, go for the printwr
Be it a fuji sp-1 or canon selphy( i prefer selphy,better quality but bulky than sp-1)

Film price canon chaper too..

By the way i am selling off my Like New condition neo 90. Pm if u would like to purchase used item as a birthday present haha:))
