Re-activate my hotlink number, Expired number

hi hotlink, i'm a student and am currently studying oversea. I was caught up with my school work and only found out that my number has expired just 10 days ago. i'm not sure if the grace period still exist, but i cant access my number anymore. this is a number which i have been using for 15 years and it is very meaningful for me, i will really appreciate if you can help me out with this. Many thanks in advanced.

Essentially, maxis wants me to sign up for a 188*24 months postpaid plan in order to get back the number. which honestly is not suitable for me, as i will still be in oversea for the coming two years. FYI, my number has expired for 10 days when i first contacted maxis for the reactivation. after multiple conversations with the agents, i guess that's the best that they can do for me because they cant overwrite the policy and the system. well, sad case for me.
