Wow, I didn't know a mechanical keyboard club for LYN existed until today Hello sifus » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I've been searching around for keycaps of this colour scheme for my CM Storm Quickfire Rapid-i for awhile now. I managed to find a seller on aliexpress selling exactly what I want, but it costs well over RM200 (60USD). I've tried searching elsewhere such as ebay as well. I was hoping that I could find a cheaper price elsewhere, and I stumbled upon this thread Hopefully you guys know a thing or two about it and can help me out.. QUOTE(ntw @ Feb 20 2016, 02:46 AM) TS can help you source it from taobao. but for your information, the one you linked is made by Tai-Hao and its OEM profile, not Cherry profile. QUOTE(am3rr @ Feb 20 2016, 02:48 AM) yaya i think i fed him with from info. its oem My current keyboard's stock keycap height is OEM profile and I'm alright with it. Is there any supposed ergonomic benefits to cherry profile? Maybe I'm missing out on something

QUOTE(ntw @ Feb 20 2016, 03:34 AM) nope. no different. Cherry profile is just slightly lower than OEM profile. I see.. Then mind if I ask, why is cherry profile generally preferred?

QUOTE(Patent @ Feb 20 2016, 02:49 AM) Just get from taobao. There should be no problem buying from them IMO. You've bought things from taobao before? I found this guide here. I'll probably just get the item from taobao myself using this guide but I'm not sure if this guide is 100% legit Also, how's the process like? As in after the item reaches Malaysia, what happens next? In the guide it mentions 'parcel forwarding' or something

QUOTE(davey.havok @ Feb 20 2016, 05:26 PM) ntw's answer: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « dadude's answer: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « my answer: » Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « I personally think there are ergonomic benefits. Cherry profile is lowered, making it easier for you to "wrap" your fingers onto the keycaps and type quicker.
But lower doesn't always mean better. Laptop chiclet keys / scissor switches make for a jarring typing experience.
And I personally dislike the feel of SA profile; it might be high on a consistent basis but nevertheless it's still too high. I only buy SA keycaps for display cos they're really pretty. Thing about MKBs is that so many features are down to personal preference, ask 1 question get 3 different answers. That's why arguments happen all the time Thanks for all of your responses. It's true that everyone's preferences are different I'll probably put down my purchase for the keycaps on taobao tomorrow. First time buying from there so hopefully everything goes okay

Your typical hey-look-at-my-new-keycaps post CM Storm Quickfire Rapid-i, blue switches Taihao Miami PBT Doubleshot keycaps (OEM height) bought from taobao. Took exactly 5 days to arrive. Surprisingly quick Here's a link for anyone who's interested http://world.taobao.com/item/45134955830.h...0.BbcVOS#detail» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... « This post has been edited by YouDontKnowMyName: Feb 26 2016, 05:53 PM

QUOTE(rurushu @ Feb 26 2016, 11:48 PM) how's the taihao keycaps? Thickness? In terms of thickness, it feels slightly thicker and slightly more solid compared to the stock keycaps. The surface of the keycaps has a matte texture to it, which definitely aids in terms of grip when typing. The slight extra in thickness can be heard when you bottom out the keys. It doesn't sound as hollow as the stock keycaps However, these keycaps do not allow light to be passed through. I did buy with this in mind as half of the LEDs on my Rapid-i have already died and I keep the LEDs off nowadays anyway. The letterings on the keycaps are definitely very clear and visible compared to the stock keycaps, since the stock keycaps are the type that requires backlight to be seen easily.
