i see i see, can we install the metal backplate into filco keyboards? but when u do the cleaning job, u will have to remove all the switches to clean the metal plate? doesnt it seems more complicated?  blink.gif  blink.gif

Filco is plate mounted by default, in other words, there's already metal plate.

As for cleaning, removing the keycaps (all preferably, if you not confident with large modifier keys like Enter, spacebar and so on, leave them untouched). Turn the keyboard upside down on your lap then start shaking/slapping it. Then use tiny brush or air blower to blow off the remaining dusts/dandruff/pieces of food. That should be clean enough but if you are despo, get a cloth and alchohol then start wiping them before reinstall everything.

i see i see, means its just like the normal way of cleaning ? i think removing the backplate is such a complicated way to do it xD
*
Yeah, dont need remove backplate for no reason.

And FYI, backplate cant be removed without desolder every single switches of the keyboard first, it is only mean to be removed when you are doing a total overhaul.

Need some comments from sifu-sifu with first-hand experience.

After using the Blackwidow for a while, I cannot bear the mushy laptop keyboard anymore. I need MKB at work!

I'm looking for TKL sizes, which I can lug around with my laptop bag as I travel alot in my line of work. I noticed that Blackwidow keys are abit different from standard ones like FILCO, but I can live with getting myself used to Blackwidow keys.

Is BW tournament recommendable for my case? I've read so many great reviews on the MINILA (looks great too), so looking for advice from sifu sifu sekalian if I'm better off sticking to BW keyboards or consider other brands/makes.
*
Not sure if BW TE have detachable cable, but I will definitely prefer a keyboard to have it if I am to use it on mobile.

And yeah, if you can get a wireless/Bluetooth KB then it will be even better.

Just Razer orange keys or Razer BW in general? ph34r.gif
*
Razer using custom Kailh switches,
http://www.razerzone.com/ap-en/razer-mechanical-switches

Either green or orange this way, green akind to MX Blue, orange akind to MX Brown.

Also, Razer do sell non-mechanical kb too, so they don't use any switches just FYI.

blue switch is doing a great job for me. But I'm not sure what's the differences between MJ 2 and the other keyboard. I tried brown and i think i will skip it. Mainly for programming.

What's the different between lighter and heavier keycaps?
*
Keycaps's weight matter little, except you compare between metal to plastic.

It's more on the texture when you touch and the bottom-up/rebounce noise, whichever you like more suit you better. PBT is the sweet spot for most ppl.

she's typing using my POKER now, she got taste.

RK61, poker form factor at pretty much a dirtcheap price (sadly our MYR is at all time weak, exchange rate less than 1.5), but it don't have Cursor keys though.

hi guys. are there any other quick fire rapid-i users here? i've been using it for about 9-10 months. no doubt, it's a good keyboard, but 3 weeks after using it, some of the leds on the keys died but the keys work just fine. i dont really mind cuz i turn the leds off most of the time. but now what annoys me is that the backspace key, delete key, and the right arrow key have all stopped working. however the leds are still alive  rclxub.gif
» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

what is happening right here? i tried "turning it off and on again" by plugging and unplugging to another different usb port but it doesn't fix the problem

so now i suspect is mechanical keyboard failure...  i bought this through a seller in lelong so i guess i'll just claim warranty :/

just sharing my thoughts to those who plan to purchase this model of keyboard. extremely faulty, having a lot of issues on LEDs (gosh i didn't know this until i googled AFTER the leds on my keyboard died so fast)
*
The LED and key switches generally work independent to each other, so one faulty should not affect another, except if there's some electrical failure or overloading occur due to that.

As for dead of multiple switches spontaneously, generally it isn't a good sign, may be involving electrical failure of components or controller. But if you are adventurous and like to DIY, can always try to open up the case then take a look at the PCB, sometimes it do tell something. Occasionally there might be switched which badly/forgotten to solder, which may explain the premature dead of certain switches.
