Welcome. You're gonna meet a lot of snobs in this thread who think Razer sucks, but I personally think the BW TE is a good product.

That's not to say there aren't better choices available out there though.

Thank you. Honestly, I don't know much about mechanical keyboards. That's why I went with the Blackwidow Tournament Edition as it is small (lack of space on my table cause I play FPS games and I take it seriously so I need a bigger space for my mouse compared to keyboard) and I have friends who used this for a year and had no problems with it.

Looking forward to be active in this thread and learn more about mechanical keyboards. biggrin.gif

Hello. I'd like to ask, anyone knows if it is possible to attach a wrist rest on a keyboard that doesn't come with one?

I'm using the Razer Blackwidow Tournament Edition (tenkeyless)

Problem is the Razer Blackwidow comes with a slight curved edge, not like a flat surface. That's why. I'm wondering if there's any 3rd party wrist rest. Maybe one that you can just put closely with the laptop. Since it's a mechanical keyboard, doubt it would move much. Pretty heavy anyways. hmm.gif

Any of you know whether Cherry MX switches and Razer's Kailh switches have identical keycaps? If so, can they be interchanged?

Also, if they are, anyone knows where I can get some unique keycaps for my Razer Blackwidow?

is there any good budget mech keyboard available out there?

Depends on what your budget is.

Also, if you look thoroughly, sometimes you find people selling mechanical keyboards RM60 up to RM100 cheaper than others.

IIRC taobao has the cheapest mkb's by the brand sonsunny or something, look in the previous few pages to find the link
(rm60 for 65% keyboard and 130 for full size)

RM130 for full size? blink.gif

What switches are they using?

Hi, does anyone know where I can get a wrist rest without shipping it from overseas?

I see most recommendations in here are from China websites. icon_question.gif

been using blues ever since tried it the first time... tried browns before, but it just felt.... "something-is-amiss" or "unfulfilling"  laugh.gif

I think the nicest to type on would be either red/blue. Browns give a too weird membrane-ish feel to it. Slightly more not-so mechanical feel than reds.

For me, reds & blues are the best feeling switches.

I think our preferences are similar,
I also think reds are nice to type also,
blacks are too heavy,
green i tried yesterday, it was very tactile and clicky, but also heavier than blues, not quite suitable for long typing session use, but i think will be good for gaming  biggrin.gif
browns to me felt like... "scratchy", i know it is supposed to be "tactile" but to me it just felt like that... hahah  laugh.gif

Yeah. Reds are nice, but I've always preferred the clicky sounds. I tried a few keyboards out, but I got the Razer Blackwidow with the green clicky switches. Honestly, I feel like they're a great feel for typing & gaming. They give you the satisfying clicky noise that blue switches does and it gives you responsive clicks like reds do.

Don't get confused with the actual Cherry MX Green switch, as they are in no way fun for gaming and is probably the heaviest switch out there. But it like them the most, and I use it for both gaming and typing.

The Green on the Blackwidow is a variant of the Cherry MX Blue, they should feel almost the same.
*
Yeah. I wasn't comparing the MX Greens and Razer's Green switches. I was merely saying that the Razer's Green switches are like a hybrid of the Cherry MX Blue clickyness and Cherry MX Red responsiveness. biggrin.gif

Do you think this keycap set would be able to fit every key on the Razer Blackwidow? (kailh switches version)

Probably not on some, like the bottom row? I use the Blackwidow quite frequently but I can't really remember.

That was my main concern as well. A lot of people said buttons like the CTRL, Windows, ALT, Spacebar and stuff are not matching for the Blackwidow and other Cherry MX compatible switches. cry.gif
