hi dear lowyat forumer, im a multimedia student and i need a laptop within 3k to 4.3k budget.
i did research alot and interest in either of this :

MSI PE60 (i heard the screen is good for design)

ASUS G551JW (from what i seen, it not a dual fan? )

MSI GE62 2QL (lower gpu, gtx 950m gpu but dual fan)

DELL INSPIRON 7447 (the spec is lower than the notebook above but the after sales is better)

so can you please give me an advice, which one should i really go for? im going to buy it tommorow, thank you smile.gif

Your using it for design i presume?

All the above is good in terms of specs. Just take the one your prefer. I'll go for the MSI PE60 because of the screen and good spec.

Or top up a bit and check out Illegear.

Video rendering is more CPU intense.. Personally tried that. If you're rendering a very big video, quad core sometimes can speed up your process by hours.
I think those 2 got lot of different is because like Arthun said, GPU you speed up or enhance the process, in this case the CPU is same so it is up to the GPU to decide which is faster.

P.S: So I'm finally back to lowyat.. been on hiatus for months sweat.gif

Using asus g551jm for engineering autocad or things like solidwork.
lagged a bit , but i am sure thats because of the 4gb RAM , will add 4gb somemore
Other than that awesome .
dont know abt others though

if i were to choose among them i'd choose G551JW
because 960m 4GB, others either 950m, 850m, or just 2GB VRAM
so the order is : G551JW > GE62 2QL > PE60 > Inspiron 7447
assuming you upgrade to 16GB RAM

if you focus on CPU, then :
GE62 2QL > G551JW > PE60 > Inspiron 7447
but GE62 is only good at CPU part.

make sure your purchase is IPS 1920x1080 full HD, some machine has only HD variables, or 8GB RAM, or slower CPU.

For GPU,
both G551 & PE60 using same GTX960M
** G551 had 2gb & 4gb version, while PE60 only 2gb (But both give similar performance)
So the order should be
( PE60 = G551 ) > GE62@950M > 7447@850M

For CPU,
GE62 new batch will be broadwell, same as PE60, while G551 & 7447 still using Haswell
So sequence
(PE60 = GE62@new batch) > G551 >= 7447

Budget too wide

Warranty > Dell, no question.

Spec > PE60

GE62 is same as PE60

Kindly refer below quote
