Just bought a used 500gb notebook harddisk whats easiest way to check on it ? since it seemed to be faulty at some point .

Problem i faced : When gaming middle or when quit screen will hang/jump/go blank , and only one/two times auto shutdown , so i think is not overheating issue (altho this laptop can get quite hot) .

why i suspect is hard disk fault :

1) one month ago same laptop same condition no problem using , now only change a harddisk and problem appear .
2) Crystal Disk Info shows "CAUTION [C5] Current Pending Sector Count : 8"
3) Run Furmark 7min no problem reached 91C , but when gaming sometimes 2-10min (uncertain) will got problem ady .

so i would like to ask any easiest way to check whether the harddisk have bad sector maybe . any help will be much appreciated , thanks in advance !!

appreciate the respond , I confirm the harddisk is faulty now (have bad sector and cant fix with WD diagnostic extended test tool, maybe is hard bad sector .)

coz i run Furmark so far no problem 5-10 minutes , my guess would be furmark tested the gpu extremely but didnt do alot data loading (read/write) like a game does , so if its harddisk fault "only" pretty much solve my problem dy xD

just wanna know can a harddisk problem cause a system when gaming to hang/freeze/screen display like tore apart and freeze ?? if yes then i think most likely is harddisk fault not overheating altho it is very hot blush.gif

But so far never auto shutdown or freeze during normal usage just gaming will , problem then i run furmark no issue hmm.gif but the bad sector problem is very minor tho , Crystal Disk Info shows 8 bad sector .
