Hi posting here because I bought a H8 (1GB RAM) from Digital Mall - not from OP but thought I'd share my experience... and this "set-top" box is pretty cool, I haven't tried attaching a keyboard but it could be nice for "desktop" use when you're bored of Windows or mobile/tablet use!

Himedia H8 - Confirmed H.265 support at 1080p (I don't have 4K screen smile.gif)

NOTE TO MODS: THESE SEEM TO BE LEGAL OPEN-SOURCE OR TRAILER VIDEOS, SHOULD NOT BE ANY ISSUE WITH THIS. Cheers!

Try:

(The Independence Day 2 and Star Wars one is quite stunning even at "just" 1080p)

I've played them using HiMedia Player.

I've explored installing other apps like CM Launcher, quite cool. 1GB RAM definitely is an issue, get the 2GB RAM model.

Games? Currently I would say not for games with regards to the 1GB RAM model.

Using Google Play most apps work, including YouTube, but "video playback" and Iflix does not work.

One thing with H8, while the video output using HiMedia Player is indeed 1080p the Google Play apps appear to run at 720p. Any fix for this? Let me know if anyone has a fix for this or if it will come in a firmware(?) upgrade.

Have fun!

EDIT: Testing Kodi, very cool. If no sound, turn off TV and turn on TV or monitor when Kodi is running, sound comes back!

Thank you for your sharing bro. Himedia native player has been customized to the Chipset. The player in the google apps are generic player which is not optimized to the chipset, it is advisable to use native player to play media files.

Cheers for the reply. Agreed, definitely using HiMedia native player 1080p H.265 is very impressive (as mentioned above I only have a 1080p screen).

I'm not a big TV person so in the meantime just using Spotify, Soundcloud or YouTube is nice. These work fine at the 720p resolution. The H8 remote works with these apps (play/pause, volume up/down). Sound quality is actually quite impressive when connecting direct from H8 RCA out to speakers RCA in.

OK that's all for now. cool2.gif
