Hi,
I have a problem with my timing in my guitar playing (both rhythm & lead). Any advise on improving my timing?
One suggests me getting a metronome & play slowly. Any particular metronome to look for? Pls suggest. And where can I get it + how much does it cost.

Basically Metronomeis the best tools to help you in timing....but i use my leg tapping as metronome.....since i have the G2.1U now..shouldn't be a problem now.....but sometimes i'll out of timing too..coz lack of pratice....

my feet tapping requires some timing corrections and accuracies too...
Does the drum machine in your G2.1u helps a lot in improving your timing?

Erm...it's not bad too...i'm using the metronome feature the most...gonna explore the whole thing kao kao after my exam....

Try to practise to backing tracks when you're learning the song, if possible, try recording it. Also, practise to a metronome.

You might wanna try learning some basic drums, it does help you keeping in time.

tap ur foot.. or listen to drums.

There are plenty of free metronome softwares available on download.com. Just use one of those.

if ur in a band then just follow the drum grooves

but if practising
u havta get a metronome or drummachine for ur timing
innerclock is buildup by persistent practises with the correct tools

for most musicians (the non-genius ones), following the groove is not an obvious gift ! it requires a lot of practising and discipline...

getting some backing tracks (the magasine "guitar techniques" for instance) will let you have fun while building your "inner clock". Metronomes are great tools, but they clearly kill the fun... and they don't help developping the musicality..

Don't bother with foot tapping when training timing. Because normally the feet tap to the groove or whatever you are playing. And if you're already inconsistent in your groove, then your foot tapping is already messy anyway. So you'll never improve that way.

If you wanna go with the foot-tapping method, try tapping to the beat, e.g. assuming you're pedalling the hi-hat. Otherwise, hum the beat, for example for 4/4 timing, 1-2-3-4...2-2-3-4...3-2-3-4 etc...
